My opinions on drugs are clear. Legalise them, tax them as heavily as tobacco and alcohol are taxed, crack down hard on illegal dealers, have state run/licensed shops as the only place that they are allowed to be bought. Make it illegal to use them outside of private residences.

Marijuana is proven to be less of a health hazard than alcohol, so why not legalize marijuana? I mean, people already use it to a large extent. My brother for example. Also, if the government doesn't want people taking drugs, then introduce an equally enjoyable sustitute that is healthier, like sex. lol I mean you want to smoke a joint, so tell your girlfriend/boyfriend, and they'll prefer oral for you instead.

Pretty much what Forkboy said really, I mean I used to smoke weed a lot and done some shit called Buzzers, which I reckon was just Poppers but my mate called em Buzzers to make them sound less gay. But oh well, Buzzers/Poppers were shit they just gave me a headache and felt light headed. Weed's awesome, and I think it should be legalized. Here's what I think about the main drugs:

Alcohol - Legal to over 20's
Ciggerrettes - Legal to over 20's
Weed - Legal to over 20's
Ecstasy - Legal to over 20's
Cocaine - Illegal
Heroin - Illegal

But like Forkboy said, you must have a controlled environment like a Pharmacy to sell them and also possibly have card's to show you have no history of mental illness etc.

Unless it comes from a plant, I won't touch it. Weed, shrooms, both prime examples and fine by me.

My boyfriend tried Methadrone recently, which is some legal (as of the moment...) drug, and not to be confused with Methadone (the substitute used to wean addicts off heroin). I looked it up a few days later and the side effects are more plentiful than the actual buzz effects. That, and it sends you through the roof. I have bitemarks to prove it >.<

Because one shot of heroin can kill you, but you have to be pretty out of it or unlucky to kill yourself on booze. I mean both wreck families for sure, but of course kids are going to get hold of it and what would you prefer, your kids jacking up or getting a little pissed?

Kid's as in 15/16 year old's. Saying they don't like needles doesn't help, you don't have to inject heroin for a start but also even one person dying is too many so don't tell me every single person under 18 will be put off by the needles. Alcohol should also only be sold in a Pharmacy, behind the counter in a controlled environment. The problem with drugs come when a mum's a heroin addict and then if you legalise she keeps it in the house in an open space because she has no worries about being raided, and then the kid gets a hold of needles that have already been used - or even emotional damage. I mean I stupidly get upset when I see my mum smoking, because I know what it does to her and I know she carries on even though she knows it's bad. And to have a mum who uses heroin would be horrible - the constant fear your mum could overdose is just one major problem.

The problem is you two are looking at it from the point of view where everyone's got individual rights and it's your choice what you do with stuff - well it has an effects on the kids too and you can't force it upon people. If you are going to legalise heroin and cocaine, at least have sessions or parties that are organised and safe environments to use them. The worst thing is with drugs is that they just make people hopeless. They become dependant on it and don't care about the rest of life. Which is horrible, because everyone should strive to be the best human being they can be in my opinion in whatever small way they can do it.

Also if a kid's parent is an addict and they get scared and depressed and emotionally damage they need to talk to a school counselor or something, if they're 15-18 they've probably got friends to move in with, and because heroin is so unattractive most people wouldn't want to do it anyway.

Durgs (yes I spell it like that sometimes because it sounds funny to say it that way) are cool because they're illegal, because they're restricted. Same reason kids want to get pissed and smoke and have sex long before it's legal.

You can't keep playing the "What if" card because that's only so likely.What if you decided to cliff dive, what if you decided to drive drunk, what if you decided to snort a line, what if I decided to chug a bottle of jack and got sick.What if, what if, what if, the key point is the IF you can't spend time thinking about what will happen until something does happen that jeopardizes the situation IN WHICH CASE you make a decision.Heroin was made illegal because of dependence not because someone ODed the first time. And you're saying X should be legal, people die of dehydration, stroke, heart attacks, and other cardiac and brain problems from first time use, same with inhalants.

Methadrone is one of the few drugs I've ever taken, alongside alcohol. Didn't get any buzz from it, nor any after affects (admittedly only had the one line) but it did help me stay awake from 4am on Thursday until I got onto my train home from Brum at 5:30pm on Friday.
