“Oh Captain|My Captain” are an English indie-rock trio from Brighton, England. The childhood friends formed a band during their highschool years after bonding over similar musical tastes. Having only finished highschool education in the summer of 2014, the trio have worked a number of jobs while trying to make their breakthrough into the music industry, splitting the time between regular jobs and performing local gigs. In early 2015 the threesome had managed to create a small buzz around the British alt-rock scene with the release of their debut single “Kids” which was featured as a free single via the popular British publication, NME. Although the track failed to chart it helped the young band gain a small amount of recognition and also managed to catch the attention of the New York based record label ‘Songs to Love and Die By’.
Following the release of that single the band were signed to the well-regarded record label in April 2015 the trio have spent their time recording more songs over the summer months of 2015 and are currently hard at work on their major label release as well as taking on touring opportunities whenever possible.
With a brand new single expected to be released in the coming weeks and their first extended release to come before the end of the year, it would be wise to keep your ears alert for these 17 year old kids, their future could be bright.
