Album:Kidd At the Adult Table
Artist: Kidd Amaze
Genre: Hip-Hop, Rap
Label: Permanent Reminder
Format: CD, Mp3 download
Produced:TJ Cousins, MattY
Release; March 2014

Well with so much hype from the mixtape “Listen and Be Amazed,” It’s no wonder fans waited for the Kidd’s album to see if he was as good as advertised or will he fade out as quickly as he busted in. This is the first studio project by the rapper and talks about how his life has changed and how fame around him has changed.

Quote:
In a lot of families including mine, there is a table or area for adults only and then there is a table for the kids. You see this a lot around the holidays and when you get to be a certain age there is a transition and this was nothing different but it was my way to kind of show the difference in where my mind is at now from where I was struggling to get here.

Kidd came to this album while finishing on "Listen and Be Amazed," and looked to get better on his lyric writing ability. At the end of last year many new artist including Kidd Amaze broke out to what would be a good year for rapper that was on the declined. Although Kidd is talk about he hasn't hit the level of success that others had but he looks to be known for his lyrical content and not the marketability of sales. With that comes a loyal fan base and some who do even like rap in general finding his music enjoyable. He has one single from the album out already with a music video but it didn't grab people like he would have liked. "Hate That I Love You" is out now, and he expects to release another song called Iron Fist, a throwback to one of his favorite video games Tekken. Kidd has also gone comical as instead of a regular booklet has a stick figure contextual cartoon that goes along with the CD.

Track 1) Dream Life

The Story behind it
The Album itself comes with a story book and like a lot of children story books begin the same way. "Once Upon A Time," and this one is no different. The song Dream Life is the first song to the album and the book tells us about kid listening to music and how the guy on the song talks about how cool his life is how much money he has, etc. Images of being rich and successful fill his head and the kid decides to work to be just like the guy in the song.

The Song itself
The song written by Kidd Amaze is really how he would rate himself and what his rise was like for him. Almost like a laugh at himself as he plays the role of a typical rapper that is first starting his career and has got his first taste of money.

Quote:
The first thing African American's do when they are from a poor background and come into a large amount of money, weather it is Sports, music, or acting. The first thing is you want to take care of the people that is around you. Mom and grandma get's a new house. Dads get a truck and a lump sum. If you really hit it big the aunts and uncles that you have a close relationship with get something, and lastly your friends just come along for the ride. The problem with that is, money doesn't last forever, friendships aren't always looking out for you. If you want to be rich hit the lottery or play slots, if you want to leave something for your kids and grandkids then you will have to be smart with everything and that isn't something that black kids don't learn. Why it is important to invest, why you should keep putting money into saving, why you should budget and not go to be the first to have it. That I think is more important to know then what you need to do to get out, cause when you make it out, what do you do with that guy that has a hole in his pocket.

Lyrics

So I see you made it huh. You finally hit the big time, now what you going with it,

(2x)
You want to be rich and famous well here what it feels like
Close your eyes and you can picture is my dream life
Surrounded by bitches and you know you will feel spite
Call the plays and run the show like your name is mike

If I tell it like it is then I’m the youngest nigga doing this
Hasn’t been a year and already your favorite rapper’s lyricist
It’s crazy how I got this music thing off its feet
Now that I got signed they think I’m going on to easy street
Moving up this high is rare as Jefferson on your money bill
Fast lane in life I hope that don’t get too dope on the feel
I can handle anything I feed off of the adrenaline
Now I’m just wondering if everyone around me genuine
If you thought I wasn’t serious then seriously fuck you
I’m been overlooked my whole life this here in nothing new
Through I gotten this far, so why should I stop now
What the point of being pc when what I said is holy cow
I’m not from the 60s but I been called a boy wonder
Like whenever you would doubt me I just bring the thunder
Having people wonder just how is this really so
Not even legal age to drink but drinking like I’m on death row
And every meal I eat is to be my last one
getting backstab? I think it was mustard with a tommy gun
Don’t have the clues but I can see how the story closes
If I do go down I still going to be swinging bows
Ha, and I’m coming for every necktie
People need patience, nah fuck that Banzai
Bonsai you can see I have quite the green thumb
Counting this much green no wonder I got cut some

(2x)
You want to be rich and famous well here what it feels like
Close your eyes and you can picture is my dream life
Surrounded by bitches and you know you will feel spite
Call the plays and run the show like your name is mike

Maybe it’s my fault that my chick is way badder
Or the fact that my offspring with have more swagger
Than their old man, that is something to be proud of
They going to be more special MJ right handed glove
You can see that now I’m in a different stage of mind
That there is no way to graph it, I’m so undefined
Now I’m on top when I felt that there was nothing left
People said I wouldn’t make it, that I shouldn’t hold my breath
Well, how is laughing now, and I didn’t even asphyxiate
Haters’ getting salty but that is something that I appreciate
Cause you made push harder and I wanted you to get a mouth full
Now everyone is eating man I am so thoughtful
What else did you expect cause I’m trying not to lose myself
New people coming around but all they looking for is a full shelf
Shouldn’t feed into my ego because he is getting swollen
And if I don’t have the tittle best believe it’s getting stolen
I’m feeling like a young LeBron James, they think I chosen
With the city on my back and families wanting to rise
Getting out of the country just my close family ties
A lot people think I should get kill off like in family guy
That I’m hipster when the only opinion I have is my own
That for me to be a rapper is something that shouldn’t be condone
Well forgive me, how about I live the dream for you
Let me take your place with all the people that adore you
Go get lime and get dissed please I implore you
That’s why I’m going to live life like it my last days
Keep hanging on clearing checks like I chuck Hayes
Drinking to the point that my liver should be praise
The only successful frat boy that didn’t get hazed

(2x)
You want to be rich and famous well here what it feels like
Close your eyes and you can picture is my dream life
Surrounded by bitches and you know you will feel spite

Track 2) I'm not the Only One

The Story Behind it
The Story of this is kid is now older and has giving up on a lot of social time to work and practice on being a good musician. When he does take a break it isn't for very long and a lot of friends have went to hangout with other people and he has only one or two people to talk to that thinks it is cool for him to go after his dream while others pay no attention to him making him feel a little depressed.

The Song itself
I'm Not The Only One is closely tied to his real experience. The song is of a slower tempo then Dream Life, he comes out with a more honest opinion of the hard work that one person has to go through.

Quote:
A lot people I use to hang with kinda just blew me off. At the beginning of my mixtape where I talk about wanting to rap and you had not only kids but adult laughing in your face thinking that would be a silly idea that gets to you. Days when I wouldn't leave the house and wouldn't share what I write because they are going to shoot you down regardless of what you put down. So I'm thankful for the people that stuck with me and keep me believing in myself. You need people to be around you to tell you you can, because if your around that negativeness that going to lead to self doubt and make it that much harder.

Lyrics
They say that all of your old friends from back in day have move on
They say you changed and they don’t know what went wrong
Why, because I’m on the road and don’t have time to be around
I’m working hard to get this up and they want to bring me down
It’s true but it is business nothing personal
None of these people are real it’s all rehearsal so
You should know that people grow apart
You should be able to separate your heart, it’s all a game
Shame, I not able to, I would much rather end it all
They would want me to quit when you could get up after your fall
I’m not the only one doing music so they shouldn’t be surprised
I know the really reason but they much rather look at me and lie, So

[Chorus]
Tell me, who did I leave behind?
You think you got to me
I can just read your mind
You think I'm so
caught up
in what
I’m doing
Right now
Believe I’m not the only one

[Verse 2]
People see me on tour and wonder when am I going to change
Agents look at you and only know you as a brand name
Is that was it is Kidd Amaze is some merchandise
Sorry but my will is something that doesn’t have a price
I don’t assume that I will always stay the same
At 15 I would have done nearly everything to get a part of fame
And now look at me people I thought cool are now second guessing
Thinking if they were in your shoes they will be able to teach you a lesson
But no one can live my life, because this is the path I choose
Even with a tell it’s unlikely that I would decide to fold
And that is what eats them right down to their very core
The fact that I’m here now has left I lot of people butt sore
A lot of people see the talent as just a free ride
The cost is lifestyle is a lot of heartache and the price is high
So damn, you only see me as another means to an end
So now you want to hop of my back to ascend
And no longer look my when you have money to spend
It’s crazy how everyone acts and pretends
And are only nice to you when you show a positive trend

[Chorus]
Tell me, who did I leave behind?
You think you got to me
I can just read your mind
You think I'm so
caught up
in what
I’m doing
Right now
Believe I’m not the only one

[Verse 3]
I got a following now, I’m a role model
With the company I keep I’m a rapping apostle
A Modern day Aristotle, for those willing to listen
That want do better and have some kind of ambition
Know that they found someone that understood
And giving back, yea I’m socialist with my good
Whatever it takes to spread the good vibrations
We’re all the same even if you don’t like creation
So similar that I want all of us to be on the same page
I want you feel what I feel and like this is you on stage
I haven’t left just because I’m not what your focus on
Just cause I was promoted doesn’t mean wasn’t I pawn
When you feeling down I want to be the person you can lean on
So why, what do you think would happen if we lost touch
You been with me long enough to know I come through in the clutch
I may come a little late but I’m always there when you’re in need
Come in to pick you up when your feel fatigue, you know me
Man why can’t you see?

[Chorus]
Tell me, who did I leave behind?
You think you got to me
I can just read your mind
You think I'm so
caught up
in what
I’m doing
Right now
Believe I’m not the only one

Track 3) Love Lost
The Story Behind It
Kid has lost his friends, lost his support, and now he even lost his love for what he wanted to do. He has given up hope as no one around him believes that he has what it takes. All of the self doubt his stop him from doing his dream and now he has moved on, but he feels something missing. Something he had a long time ago, and he can't put his finger on it. As time goes by and the feeling grows he goes back to listen but the song doesn't sound the same. None of the music he liked now gets to him anymore. His desire to not just because rich but the desire of wanting to make better music is found. How could he have been so blind to give up so easy. With he spirit restored he goes back to making music and leaving his old life once and for all.

The Song Itself
The song was written by Kidd Amaze and Carmen Grant, with production by MattY and this would be the first time these two worked together. With Carmen being more of a indie singer people wondered what the sound would be like but Kidd didn't worry about it. He got a real instruments in the recording studio and did most of the work live in the studio instead of having a machine lay down the music for them and came to be a much better sound to it. Both of them talk about what it was like working together on something different.

Quote:
I Think that when you have someone who is talented like Carmen you try not to do the little shortcuts because you want people to get as much of the full experience as possible You want be to enjoy it and just be in the moment so it was a lot more work but I think that it was important and the end result turned out great ~Kidd Amaze

Quote:
Well! Carmen was just sitting there, minding her own business, when Mr. Kidd Amaze ring-a-ding-dings her and says, "Carmen! Let's make a song together!" And Carmen said, "Okie dokie!" and then they did! Mr. Kidd Amaze said, "I want to do a song about losing the love you had for somebody," and then Carmen said, "That sounds very depressing. Let's make it," and then we did. Carmen had never done a collaboration with anybody before, and especially not a collaboration with a rapper. It was a brand new experience, but very very fun. Carmen had a good time, yes, she did. Carmen wants to do more collaborations in the future. At first, Carmen wasn't sure if she should do a collaboration with somebody of a genre so different from her's. Carmen has always been about self-expression, and staying true to who you are, and she was afraid that combining her genre with Mr. Kidd Amaze's genre would make her give up some of her self-expression, but it sure didn't, no sir. Mr. Kidd Amaze was very good about keeping Carmen's Carmenism part of the production, and Carmen thinks that they made a great song. Wooosh! ~Carmen Grant

Lyrics

(Kidd Verse 1)
You ever been in dream and never wanted to awake from
But like everything even with dreams the end must come
Slowly waking up and finding what reality has set
Only for you to see that you got what you could get
You thought you were being bold but it seems like you settle
Thought it would move mountains couldn't even lift a pebble
What just happen you no longer feel a spark?
You were with superman how you ending up with Clark
Nice is fine but he leaves a lot to be desired
There are only embers of what was once a raging fire
Just being here is boring and thus is reality
No longer in your dreams your man that is a fantasy

(Bridge)
You are surrounding all of my surrounding
And I can’t do this anymore
because your such a bore
You are nauseating that I can’t even talk to you
And I just can’t do this
so we are though

(Hook)
Because I lost the love for you,
I lost the love I had for you

(Carmen Verse 2)
You say she's perfect, but it's always fake
"Baby, stay home with me, for old times' sake?"
Just stand by her side, flash her that smile, be polite
While everybody else is out tonight
So she called you up, three in the morning, from god knows where
Would you lie in bed if she were there?
Speak soft, just talk, she won't listen, hear her warnings
And know that she won't let you leave in the morning
She'll follow you down the streets of the state
You'll make up a reason not to come, "for old times' sake"
Nothing in this could ever change, and everything in this you could replace
Except, maybe, the new lines on your face

Is this here the end? (x8)
I won’t let it end,
It will never end.

Hell no, hell no, you know that won’t go
Tired of being single remember that from the get go
He is pretty nice so maybe the feeling will grow
Wait a minute who the friend that he know

Hell no, hell no, you know you won’t go
We will be together forever even when buried below
Tied with a red string and it locked in toe
Hey wait a minute who the fuck is that hoe

Hell no, hell no, you know that won’t go
Tired of being single remember that from the get go
He is pretty nice so maybe the feeling will grow
Wait a minute who the friend that he know

Hell no, hell no, you know you won’t go
We will be together forever even when buried below
Tied with a red string and it locked in toe
Hey wait a minute who the fuck is that hoe

I lost the love I had for you
I lost the love I had for you
I lost the love I had for you
It’s time that I find someone new (New!)

Track 4) What Stardom Means
The Story Behind It
In this part of the story kid is working hard but right now is seeing little to no result. The second trouble comes in, the ghost writing process. Sure it is good to have someone help you write songs to have another brain to help you, but ego does pay a part and can you be a great musician if you can't write your own music or songs or are you just an entertainer the face that gets the spotlight on someone else's work.

The Song Itself
This is one of the few songs that was taken off of the mixtape but the song Kidd works as a ghost writer. Not only does it talk about writing songs for others but it also talks about what he thinks about people who always feel like they can do music.
Quote:
I did this song before I did the mixtape and the reason why I keep it and put it on here was I sure that people would really kind of skip over it from the mixtape, here it really tied into what I was doing and talking about, young kids need to know that some people are going to try to use you and to not fall for the ride.

lyrics
~12 seconds of music~

I see a lot niggas trying to be the next big thing to rap
but they fall into the lifestyle of flipping in the trap
they see big names that came through from drugs
they made the connection simply because
well if they did it then i can do it too
dumbass that just not true
we were all created equal is a mother fucking lie
or every man would have big dick near his thigh
so you grew up in a bad hood try to get real
rarely do people in ghettos get that deal
and if somehow you magically get found then what
think one song would make you big king tut
shit nigga please, let’s put this in perspective
after you get sign what would be your objective
in nigga terms what you doing with your contract
after you go to the party shouting where the hoes at
you going to have plan your form of attack
Make more songs to be better than you’re first which gets old
always top yourself and push the company that hold
everything about you cause you’re a brand now
old friends talk about you change but man how
and the new girlfriend trying get your shit, man wow
Cut that off, you don't want to be drop from the label
move away from them until they distance memory fable
story tellers will tell about all of your past ways
but night life with have your mind in a daze
then find yourself waking up in a trash hotel room
mom calling about holidays and seeing you soon
slowing waking up and finding it near noon
fuck the shower wash up and get in tune
cause soon the album is going to drop
last thing you want is a fucking flop
so you hop to it and practically live in the studio
Practice and rehearsing like lead role in a movie Yo
booth is confessional always speak the truth
3 weeks later time for you to raise the roof
finally drop and you're pitching it like a Yankee
while you get perks of all girls trying to yank the
groupies all love and attention
plus they're some freaks but we don't have to mention
all they ways that girls do get some of your pension
sales come out and they were fairly good
they even got your shit bumping in your hood
success can be addicting when on the rise
now you treat people like some kind of prize
that you win at the fair but you just only begin
so your approach is time easier with the pen
cause why a pencil no need for you to erase
you know you have that fire to bring another ace
ah but the sophomore slump is more rough
and people start doubting if you're good enough
so now here you are ass back on the hot seat
new friends leaving high and dry at your feet
the ground is even pulling you down
and story tellers making it hard to get around
sound like it's all negative words and vibe
you try to do collabos to keep hope alive
record sales leak but they are nothing to talk about
now company heads saying you're on your way out
after all you done one hit wonder it can't be
so you look for a ghost writer namely me
get some track and make the best thing to hear
then come to me to spark you're dyeing career
come out hot with fire just blazing
critics talk about you being amazing
next then you know you're in the middle
answer you come up only leads to more riddles
like how on your career you impacted so little
yea you're on top but that is because of me
and every time the song plays I get royalties

Track 5) Hate That I love You

Story behind it
Being in love isn't always roses and fun time. Kid knew he was going to put the work in and take the time to make this work and he loved doing it; but there was a lot of pain that came with working really hard. You get mad when things don't work out the way you want them too. Set backs happens and problems could up that you have to work through. Love is long long LOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG process and it takes work everyday but the good thing about it is that it bring so much more positive than it does negative.

The Song Itself
This was the first song to come off of the album and went straight to a music video. The reviews were good but nothing great and the charts reflected that, good but not great peaking at 7 on the airwaves. Digitally he had better luck as he normally does but still only top 5 at it's peak. He was nervous but the more the song got played the more people seemed to enjoy which he didn't really like.

Quote:
"I didn't like the fact that people wanted the song to grow, but it seems to be like one of those songs where you hear it think nothing about it, hear it again it reminds you of something, and like the fourth time hearing it you start to like it. I was looking for more of a impact song, but I'm not a R&B singer, and this is one of the reason why huh, I was told that it would have been better if the video including a lap dances, I thought it was common knowledge that I'm dating? Anyway maybe next time if someone wants to give me a lap dance and that is was the people want?

Lyrics
Tell me whatcha say now?
Tell me whatcha say
Come again
You know we already been through this
Every day but you don’t get the jest
Just how much longer and
I’m going to witness
The way that you break down
[Bridge 1:]
Don't take it personal
But you’re the worst
You know what you've done to me
And although it hurts I know
I just can't keep runnin' away

[Hook]
I don’t love you (x4)
But I want you
I don’t need you (x4)
But I want you

[Verse 2:]
So what do we do now?
What do we do
You know we going to go through all of the drama once again
In public all you do is this act and pretend
Like nothing between us is ever wrong
You wanted this all along
Just drag me with you
You glad I’m still with you

[Bridge 2:]
Please don't take this personal
But you tied you me down
And hurt yourself so I can stay around
Got me looking like I’m the clown
And I been through worse than you
I just can't keep runnin away
[Hook]
You try to escape, really you like the attention
The fire that burns inside gets hotter with all the tension
You wanted to be here you couldn’t leave if you wanted to
Loving the fact of the dangers and all of the taboo
You knew that I was unstable; I can’t help but be fickle
Seeing the pressure get to you always gives me a little tickle
Then somehow you still are able to stay in control
You still believe that you can somehow make me whole
I don’t know if your naïve or your just really thick
Seeing you have all of this faith in me is kinda sick
I don’t want to feel what you feel I rather be free
But if you still think I can be tame then show me

[Bridge 3:]
So just what, what are we going to do now
Cause I can’t just stay right here
I’m have break myself away you
[Outro (x2):]
I don't need you (x4)
And I don’t want you
I don't hate you (x4)
Cause I, Cause I love you
I don't need you (x4)
But I love you
I don't mean to (x4)
But I love you

Track 6) Let Me Live

Story Behind It
A lot of times work and friends and family are going to see the negative no matter how much you like doing what your doing. Kid is going to fall down sometimes, go through depressing things, feel like he is trapped, lonely, but through it all he going to grow and get back to where he needs to be because he has a dream. A goal, and nothing is going to stop so just should just let him live and work through what he is going through and be there for support if need be, not to kick him while he's down and keep pointing at the stuff that is wrong with the situation.

The Song Itself
This was written while Kidd was on the road living from paycheck to paycheck and was left off the mixtape as he had enough songs bashing people for not believing in him but just another You can do it if you put your mind into it. The rhyming scheme is crazy as he sing the first part has a bridge and a hook then the last part is just one long rap straight to the end.

Lyrics

(Bridge)
And I always know, Yea I know that this wrong
All you ever wanted was for me to play along
But it you want it you are going to have to give
I’m my own person so you should let me live

(Hook)
Cause I’m going to have up
And I’m going to have down time
I’m going to have misery
Have time for me shine
Tell me what’s real love, if you can’t forgive
All of the growing pains how people live

Finding it harder to be myself with all the stares
Eyes still not use to all the flash and glare
Louie shades now tint what I can see
I don’t even know if this is what I want to be
Hard when you’re not around I feel it, homie
Not trusting scare to be caught with these phonies
But man you work so hard to get to where you are
Like you’re hit and don’t if you ever stop seeing stars

(Bridge)
And I always know, Yea I know that this wrong
All you ever wanted was for me to play along
But it you want it you are going to have to give
I’m my own person so you should let me live
(Hook)
Cause I’m going to have up
And I’m going to have down time
I’m going to have misery
Have time for me shine
Tell me what’s real love, if you can’t forgive
All of the growing pains how people live

Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine
Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine
going through this but I’ll be good I know I will
You just got to let me live
Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine
Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine
going through this but I’ll be good I know I will
You just got to let me live

run away man run away
every time i try i can't seem to break away
try hard as i can but the gravity won’t let me slip away
this rapping has a pull it always find a way
maybe it's because family want me to stay
or the fact that people want to hear what i say
or maybe i just that easy to let myself get sway
by no means am i the best this isn't even my fourte
maybe I’m a natural born with it pursay
my mind on another planet like kanye
alright alright i admit it i'm kinda sick with it
and if I'm the shit yall the stick in it
i'm the type of guy your girl get with it
and Couldn’t see me so 2-Pac hid in it
they say got me but they are out of place
and my heart going to race if i keep this pace
swing with a mace that's double damage
tennis will no love but i still have the advantage
and this is game set
time to place your bet
who will come out and be so close yet
be so far, chasing after stars
go through wars and have unseen scars
see where I came route not made for cars
cause of all the road blocks hard hat with construction
All they want to see the output of the function
Don’t matter what you started you with just the end
Crazy because my life is only starting to begin

Johnny: Nice to see some rap that's not all about guns, money, and exploiting women. A breath of fresh air. I like it.

Hennessy: Likewise.

OOC: I'm tempted to try and start a rapper of my own. But he'd be strictly nerdcore hip hop. Got no idea how that would take off around here. Though it's definitely stuff I can riff off of seeing as I'm a big nerd myself.

Track 7)Breakdown

The Story Behind It
Their is nothing better getting friction. Without it we couldn't walk or create heat and that is extremely important. Much like it is with anything you do. Progress is in human nature, and ambition is what drives us. Kid is been driving through and it looks like the road is smoothing out. Their were a lot of speed bumps, some potholes, and just bad luck. Now things are looking up and it couldn't come any sooner.

The Song itself
Breakdown is simple from Janet Jackson I get so lonely, and this song is meant to be where Kidd is at right here in his life, Through all the problems that he had to go through to get his foot in the door he was finally able to get through the doorway.
But he talks about what others would experience through coming the way he did.

Quote:
This song talks about last year, how the end of the year went for me, and how thankful I am but this song also ties into the next song knock me down. This is for the most part the good. Rubbing elbow with the right people, getting yourself out there and is telling you, "I know people that want to be rich and famous, if you want to do that then you have to work hard, think on your feet and keep moving forward. Money is going to come, men and women are going to come, problems are going to come. Just keep your eyes on the target.

Lyrics

Okay, Okay
Breakdown, Breakdown

(Verse 1)
Tell me what I haven’t done is such a young age
Cause by now I’m already thinking that I turned the page
What people thought was just a phase is now my career
I think mid-life crisis is closer to me any other fear
Traveling across the world, Look now I’m black culture
All I need now is a deerstalker to go along with my ulster
So what to do when you when everything you want you got
And soon you becoming Mister Johnny on the spot
It seems to be hard with so much success to be grounded
And it’s harder when you away home are your surrounded
By people who want to know every little detail,
And have hungry girls looking for their ducktails
No I’m not Scrooge, hell I’m not even making daffy money
But I laugh when see people from my past acting all chummy
People that they looked up too now are at my house
Please not let liquor be the excuse for you to run your mouth

(Bridge)
Like everything is in the past just turn the other cheek
Petty and envy is a human emotions created by the weak
Not going to lecher about how you should practice what preach
All I’m going to work hard and be out of everyone reach
So what we doing I haven’t begun so why do I feel like I’m head start
Everyone has their role to play why so many want lead with no heart
When they look they see my talent shine through when I’m just doing my part

That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
It goes (it goes) it goes (it goes)
That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
It goes (it goes) it goes (it goes)

(Hook)
I know you want it, know you want to be up here with the rich and famous
Tired of putting in so much work but to still wonder around aimless
Lucky I got the blueprint on what you’re trying to become
Follow this breakdown to become number one
Follow this breakdown to become number one
Number One
Number One
Number One

(Verse 2)
Got tons of followers that want to be in on the know
On how a guy like me made this rap shit grow
Humbling experience when you hear all that praise
That just lifts you up and makes you work for that raise
It isn’t all good but you can’t beat the perks
The love and support for everything even the quirks
There are some people who don’t want to see, eyes shut
Then you go harder and punch them right to the gut
Those niggas are stuck in the past how it always rapping around gangs
Violence, sex, and drugs, because that’s what they bang
I don’t lie I’m happy say that do Mary Jane
Got a good connect that does the best strain
But that other stuff you need to let go and get over it
That wasn’t helping anyone for the company benefit
I’m about expression I don’t need to lie
Man sometimes reasons for them to not try

(Bridge)
But everything past and all I did just turn the other cheek
Petty and envy is a human emotions created by the weak
Not going to lecher about how you should practice what preach
All I’m doing is working hard and be out of everyone reach
So what we doing because I seem to already have a leg up
Why every time I pass you holding out an empty cup
Everyone has their role to play why so many want lead with no heart
When they look they see my talent shine through when I’m just doing my part

That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
It goes (it goes) it goes (it goes)
That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
That’s the way it goes
It goes (it goes) it goes (it goes)

(Hook)
I know you want it, know you want to be up here with the rich and famous
Tired of putting in so much work but to still wonder around aimless
Lucky I got the blueprint on what you’re trying to become

Track 8) Success Skit/ Knock Me Down

This wouldn't be a Kidd album without a skit to entertain. Kidd seems to like these skits and it talks about what success it to him and what things are going with him as it is also a nice transition into the next song Knock Me Down. He takes the beginning of the first song and now the same guy that ask the rapper the question in the beginning of the album ask the same question to himself, You made it so what are you going to do now?

Skit
Voice: So you made it right, you finally got here huh. So what are you going to do about it?
Kid: Me, I’m going to do more? Why stop when you’re ahead? Take as much they will let you?
Voice:But you got it people know you? People see what you’re doing? It’s a good job?
Kid: Why stop at good? Why be mediocre? Why settle? The door is wide open, and the stage is set.
Voice:You need to take it easy, just relax. Your family already works anyway. Isn’t this enough?
Kid: No, it’s not enough. I still have things to say. I still have more to give and unless you can stop me,
Voice:Maybe I will, maybe it’s time to knock yourself down a peg or two because you’re getting full of yourself aren’t you?
Kid: Then go for it, but nothing is going to stop me. This isn’t over until I say it’s over

Knock Me Down

Story Behind It
Well kid has done it, he has work hard been through a lot and finally he has made it as a successful musician, people don't laugh when he say he is working on music. He hears his music played on radio nationwide. Having a good time and could finally do things his way. The problem is that it isn't enough, he doesn't want to be just A musician he wants to be THE musician. The have a global impact, and to be talked about for years to come. He wants to be in record books not just on records. He wants to be in the hall of fame not just a footnote.

The Song itself
This is a good track with the help of Virginia's own Timberland producing. The connection happen while Kidd was in New York and after a couple hours and being very picky Kidd heard this song and went to work writing and recording. Though it is a pretty simple beat with the piano playing the the same two keys it doesn't take away from the lyrics itself and really it lets the lyrics take the front seat as Kidd talks about the trouble that he has to deal with not being with his friend AR when he was killed. Now that Kidd is in the way up, and trending so quickly the only way he sees himself not beginning able to do what he is setting his mind onto, being the best rapper is someone "Knocking him Down,"

[u]lyrics[u]

Have you ever (x6)
(Hook)
Have you ever lived your dream?
Have everything you could want and need
Know that you reach your goal
But still always wanting more
If so you better stop me now
Please knock me down

(Verse 1)
Black boy, dark look, hard life, good cook
Wrong place, off time, Get caught, 99
Families miss him, while others happy to diss him
Some say it was the environment others blaming the system
Uh, so how do you get out but through the sports and music
Get the money and run out of their but the truth is
That not how it always works and you force into a box
Where you either adapt to hard lifestyle or see yourself rot
Many will look for it but not able to find salvation
To the point where everyone bleed heavy, no menstruation
Bad situation and you will not see another day
People are feeling it but never have the words to say
See it on their faces and know that help isn’t coming for
Makes the young ones hungry in something and want more
Looking in the sky and have the ability to soar
Well, I make it through with these eyes on having all
The only way for me to not reach my dream is for me to fall

(Hook)
Have you ever lived your dream?
Have everything you could want and need
Know that you reach your goal
But still always wanting more
If so you better stop me now
Please knock me down

Verse 2
That my friend that got shot for “snitching” on them
That school that had a wake in the “missing” for him
That the girl that no longer has a father to talk about
Those are the kids that witness murder and won’t open their mouth
It’s a sad time, it is a bad hand
People would try to reason but will never understand
By any means they take that shit literal
They do a lot of wrong I pray for their spiritual
And once you’re in you can never escape it
You try to atone but it is funny how twisted fate is

(Hook)
Have you ever lived your dream?
Have everything you could want and need
Know that you reach your goal
But still always wanting more
If so you better stop me now
Nothing can stop him, He moving up and shining a light, light, light
He trying to do good, and give people another option, that isn’t right, right, right
Knock me down

(Hook)
Have you ever lived your dream?
Have everything you could want and need
Know that you reach your goal
But still always wanting more
If so you better stop me now
Please knock me down
Knock me down
