Reese Hollinsworth's rendition of "Run the World (Girls)," a song recorded by American recording artist Beyoncé Knowles, is a cover which was recorded for and featured in Hollinsworth's sophomore extended play, In Hiding... (2 of 2). The song serves as the lead single off the EP and is set to be released to multiple digital and physical retailers on June 23, 2014. It was written by Terius "The-Dream" Nash, Knowles, Nick "Afrojack" van de Wall, Wesley "Diplo" Pentz, David "Switch" Taylor, and Adidja Palmer. Production was handled by Shea Taylor, The-Dream, Knowles, David "Switch" Taylor. This is Hollinsworth's first venture into female empowerment, a theme which he promises to follow up in the foreseeable future.

"Run the World" heavily samples "Pon de Floor" by Major Lazer, following the same alternative hip hop-dancehall genres, mixed with Knowles' R&B and pop styles. The song's title and lyrics comprise an unapologetically aggressive message promoting female empowerment. On the single, "Run the World" is accompanied by "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and "***Flawless," both of which support "Run the World"'s theme of feminism and female empowerment. The track also stands out as the most direct approach towards female empowerment than its b-sides.

Hollinsworth is promoting and will promote the single in numerous live performances. On June 15, 2014, he performed "Run the World" to a select group on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which was first screened five days later, on June 20, 2014. He is set to perform the song on the June 22 installment of Good Morning America along with two other songs which are yet to be announced.

Lyrics:

Girls, we run this motha (yeah!) [x4]
GIRLS!

Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who run this motha? Girls! [x4]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]

Some of them men think they freak this like we do
But no they don't
Make your check come at they neck,
Disrespect us no they won't

Boy don't even try to touch this
Boy this beat is crazy
This is how they made me
Houston Texas baby
This goes out to all my girls
That's in the club rocking the latest
Who will buy it for themselves and get more money later
I think I need a barber
None of these niggas can fade me
I'm so good with this,
I remind you I'm so hood with this
Boy I'm just playing
Come here baby
Hope you still like me
F- you pay me

My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power, with our love we can devour
You'll do anything for me

Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who run this motha? Girls! [x4]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]

It's hot up in here
DJ don't be scared to run this, run this back
I'm reppin' for the girls who taking over the world
Help me raise a glass for the college grads

41 rollin' to let you know what time it is, check
You can't hold me (you can't hold me)
I work my 9 to 5, better cut my check
This goes out to all the women getting it in,
You're on your grind
To other men that respect what I do
Please accept my shine
Boy I know you love it
How we're smart enough to make these millions
Strong enough to bear the children
Then get back to business
See, you better not play me
Oh, come here baby
Hope you still like me
F- you hate me

My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power
With our love we can devour
You'll do anything for me

Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who run this motha? Girls! [x4]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]

Who are we? What we run? The world (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What we run? The world (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What do we run? We run the world! (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What we run? We run the world
Who run the world? Girls
