Illuminate is the fourth single from Swedish Metal band
The Enlightened, it's taken from the band's first album,
The Arcanum Cirlce, which was released the last May. This is the first release of the band with their new label, Kaleidoscope Reocrds and is availalbe in three formats: CD, Digital Download and Limited-Edition 7" Picture Vynil. The phyisical versions include an edit version of "Illuminate" and a demo version of the band's first single, "Shadows".
The song was written by Tom Orgsen and was recorded at the Rever Studios (London) in January 2014. It was produced by the british producer, musician and artists,
Bill Owens.
This track is an experimental song, highly-influenced by neo-classical and orchestral elements. It goes from slow-tempo to mid-tempo and blast-beat-drums with a main work of the lead guitar, in a very classic-heavy-metal style. The song has a lot of unexpected tempo-changes, a strong use of keyboards and orchestral instruments, and some elements of industrial metal. The band picks up the illuminate theme for its lyrics.
"After signing with Kaleidoscope, we decided that we had to release a new single, as a welcome to the label. We've been thinking about what song we must choose for the last days and the chosen is Illuminate, one of the shortest songs of the album and one of my favourites. This release is a gift for the fans, it's like a teaser of the Arcanum World Tour, we are all very excited to get on the road!".
"Illuminate is a emonic song. I will say that it's a weird song, with a lot of sudden changes that are realy unexpected, in a very progressive style. It's one of the most orchestral-driven songs on the album and we used a lot of different instruments and samplers to achieve this sound. I think it's unique, a very rare song...Going from symphonic and neo-classical melodies to Blackened Death metal bridges with a deep-vocal-work."
