He quickly placed the microphone which he brought with him next to the one that is already on stage. He then sets the foot pedal up and stands up, rubs his long red hair with his left hand, and then drops his arm down to his side again; a wrist band becoming visible from under his sleeve as his arm drops. Sammy smiles, he is obviously incredibly nervous as this is his first ever televised performance, and then moves closer to the microphone. “Hey, everyone. I’m Sammy Griffin. And I am now going to perform to you the single taken from my recent EP. This song is called Please Don’t Go. Enjoy it.” The audience lets of a slight cheer as the still relatively unknown red headed man standing on the stage introduces himself and his song. He quickly checks his guitar before leaning towards the rusty microphone and humming into it. Sammy moves away from the microphone, and his foot comes off of the foot pedal for a second before going back down. The humming sound is repeated – it has been looped by the pedal; Sammy then plays a couple of quick chords which he then allows to loop again. He smiles to the audience as an atmosphere starts to build around him and his music. Sammy moves back towards the rusty microphone and grabs a hold of it with his right hand, another wristband becoming visible to the audience. He moves his mouth to within a centimetre of the microphone and starts to beat box. This again helps to build the atmosphere even more. Now that Sammy has built an atmosphere up he starts playing a steady tune on the guitar and starts to sing. “I wish that you would stop, with all these games, I just don’t know if I, can cope or play, ‘Cause I’ve seen it all before, And yes, I am sure, That it won’t end nicely, for anyone. I think that we need some time, So that I can see clearly, Because this could be the end of you and me.” As the verse finishes, Sammy quickly turns off the atmosphere that he has created, and plays a simple guitar riff as he sings the chorus. This leads Sammy into a rapped verse; which manages to catch a lot of the audience of guard who still did not know who this young singer-songwriter is. His confidence is obvious – it would be hard to believe that he had never performed on the TV before; he raps with such ease as he eventually leads into a second chorus. The verse was played over the self-created music which he built up in front of the live audience as they watched him. This is again switched off as he reaches the second chorus of the song. “I’ve had enough of all these games, no I don’t know! I don’t want you to stay, but please don’t go! I’ve had enough of all these games, no I don’t know! I don’t want you to stay, but please don’t go!” Now Sammy stops all music, but keeps tapping his foot on the floor, he grabs hold of the rusty microphone and holds an ‘OOO’ noise, before doing the same again a few seconds later with an ‘AHH’ noise; making a live harmony with himself! This is the loop pedal at work again, and he takes a quick strum on his guitar to add to his harmonies as well as he leads into the break down of the song. The music all stops again after the break down finishes and then Sammy grabs the other microphone and sings with such power that he makes a couple of unexpecting people in the audience jump a little. “Oh no, Please don’t go!” Then Sammy sings a final chorus to the audience; in the background, his harmonies sound as he plays his guitar again as well. He sings the last line of the chorus and then drops his head and the audience cheer him. Sammy waves to the audience as he quickly gathers his things and walks off the stage. How can you love when you’re already dead?
