The first track on Buzz & Hype's latest venture is also to be released as a single on the same day as the EP release. This being Sunday 30th of June 2013.

1. Screams in the Dark [4:34]

Caps = Screamed
Regular = Sung

Lyrics:

Holding on to the darkness within,
Bleeding hearts, filled with sin,
Over flowing with death and destruction,
Like this world that's full of corruption,
Drinking from the veins of evil,
Letting the liquid cover your face,
Listening for the screams in the darkness,
Feeding off the pain of the disgraced

LISTEN TO THE SCREAMS IN THE DARK,
LET THE HORROR FILL UP YOUR HEART,
LISTEN TO THE SCREAMS IN THE DARK,
LISTEN FOR THE SCREAMS IN YOUR HEART

On the run from a killer,
Trying to escape,
Your life has become a thriller
A twisted turn of fate,
I’m closing the gap, sealing the deal,
All of your nightmares, will soon become real
Blood on my hands, smiling with glee,
My eyes twinkle slightly, as you scream like a banshee!

LISTEN TO THE SCREAMS IN THE DARK,
LET THE HORROR FILL UP YOUR HEART,
LISTEN TO THE SCREAMS IN THE DARK,
LISTEN FOR THE SCREAMS IN YOUR HEART

THE WORLD IS A TWISTED PLACE,
FULL OF HATRED, AND BURNING DISGRACE,
WHEN YOU SCREAM IN THE DARK,
NO-ONE SEES YOUR FACE,
IT’S GAME OVER NOW,
So embrace your fate.

Description:

A gentle guitar riff introduces the song and as the bass line stays fairly low at this point the drum beat kicks in fairly swiftly. Scott RH’s vocals quickly come into action on top of the fast, hard drum beat as a very rough growl. His gruff vocals immediately make the song differ from anything Buzz & Hype have ever made before, helping to create more of a sense of intrigue as the first song on the EP starts to get into full swing towards the end of the verse.

Scott’s vocals are getting gradually harsher and harsher as the verse progresses, almost in sync with the every fastening guitar speed. The guitars increase in speed and give off much more of a metal vibe to the song than has ever been given off in any Buzz & Hype song. The bass line starts to pick up slightly more towards the conclusion of the verse too.

The chorus kicks in and Scott’s growls become insane screams, just at the same time as the base drops into a mad frenzy of noise. The clash of Dubstep and Scream helps to create a new vibe to Buzz & Hype, which could not only open them up to a whole new audience, but could potentially allow this EP to alienate the duo from a lot of their previous audience. The guitar thrashes wildly as the drum beat also reaches ridiculously hard tempos.

As the chorus comes to an end, the squealing base line softens a bit, but is still much louder and noticeable than in the first verse. The metallic guitar still continues as before, but Scott’s ever harsh vocals soften slightly as he growls the second verse. The pace of the song generally is faster at this point, and the verse finishes slightly faster than the previous and drops straight into the same sort of manic chorus as the first one.

The chorus finishes and a third verse begins. Scott’s screams echo as he starts to scream a third verse, the drop continues into the final verse, getting faster and becoming the leading part of the music with the guitar riff fading into the background with the drum beat more. Scott’s screeches and howls blending with the squealing of the baseline as the verse progresses more and concludes with the final note of the penultimate line being held as Scott simple says the final line under his echoing screech.

2. Knife in the Back [2:01]

[Instrumental Track]

Description:

The song starts with a heavy drum beat and base line, kicking off with more of a drum & bass vibe than the previous song. It quickly speeds up as a very harsh distorted guitar riff bellows through as well.

The song continues in much the same manner for around 45 seconds, and then all of a sudden the base drops. The song goes all out dubstep, with noises thrown it at all ends of the pitch spectrum and of all sorts too. About 20 seconds into the drop, Scott Rose-Hilton’s bellowing screams can be heard to reverberate around the recording studio.

He holds his scream for around 15 seconds and then the base drops again. The song finishes with just the sound of a liquid dripping onto the ground.

Honor: Buzz and Hype, this is turning out to be something here. I'm not really into instrumentals on an album BUT I have to make a few exceptions and 'Knife in the Back' is one of them. It reminds me of simpler times...and walking through a horror house of some kind.

3. Playing with Bones [3:09]

Caps = Screamed
Regular = Sung

Lyrics:

Stumble in the dark,
Wonder what you see,
A child with his back turned,
He’s playing gleefully.

Wonder over closer, go on and take a look,
The hairs on your neck are all standing up,
HE'S PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES

THE CHILD IS THE SPAWN OF THE DEVIL
MAY HIS POOR MOTHER BE BURNED LIKE WITCH
HE CAUSES THE SCREAMS IN THE DARK
AND LAUGHS AT HIS VICTIMS LAST TWITCH

HE'S PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES
HE'S PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES
PLAYING WITH BONES

Description:

A gentle growling noise can be heard over the soft piano play. A gentle ‘wobbing’ can be heard in the background too as the intricate piano play leads slowly into the verse. The base line slowly rises as the song closes in on the verse. Scott’s grumbled vocals collide with the drum beat as he begins to sing the lyrics to the song. It doesn’t take long for the pace of the base line to increase once his vocals have begun. It gets faster and faster until it reached the end of the verse, at which point the drum beat slows, whereas the base continues at its current pace.

The song goes into the pre-chorus and the piano starts making lots of seemingly random high pitched noises to help create and eerie tension. The pre-chorus finishes and all goes quiet for half a second. Suddenly a wave of electronic noise crashes through the speakers, and the blood curdling screeches of Scott Rose-Hilton hit just at the same time. Scott’s screams are matched perfectly in tone with the thundering base-line that is powering out beneath them, and they help propel the song further forward into the second drop.

The chorus finishes and then the base drops again, this being the second drop. Scott screeches his way through the second verse over the guitar which is being shredded into the almost over-powering base line. At this point, the piano that was being played at the start has almost been lost in the noise, but it continues to play ever-so subtly in the background. Scott’s contribution to the song and the EP as a whole puts an entirely different spin on anything the production duo have done before, and anything they will probably ever do again.

The final chorus comes into play and secondary screeches can be heard in the background, merging with the squealing base line as Scott blasts his way through the vocals again. The guitar part in this chorus is faster and harder, and much more like a generic post-hardcore metallic track; the base line however, pulls the track back over to the Dubstep genre in which Buzz & Hype have made their names.

The song finishes, and a long final screech echoes into the distance over the top of the piano loop that has played throughout the track as it also fades away.

4. Avoiding Defeat [5:23]

Caps = Screamed
Regular = Sung

Lyrics:

Hold on to the knife by your side,
You never know when you will need it,
Hold on for the rest of your life,
See how easy avoiding defeat is,
Play your games dirty,
HOLD ON TIGHTER NOW!
Don’t lose the fight,
FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE!

THE BEST WAYS OF AVOIDING DEFEAT ARE,
NEVER TELL THEM WHO YOU ARE!
ALWAYS KEEP YOURSELF SHROUDED IN SHADOWS,
HIDING IN THE DARK OF THE NIGHT!
AVOIDING DEFEAT.

Crumbling brickwork,
ROTTING FOUNDATIONS,
Loosen the screws,
WATCH IT FALL DOWN,
Hidden by darkness,
BLINDED BY LIGHT,
Work hard for survival,
AND WIN YOUR FIGHT!

THE BEST WAYS OF AVOIDING DEFEAT ARE,
NEVER TELL THEM WHO YOU ARE!
ALWAYS KEEP YOURSELF SHROUDED IN SHADOWS,
HIDING IN THE DARK OF THE NIGHT!
AVOIDING DEFEAT.

HOLD ON TIGHTER TO THAT FEELING OF DOOM,
DEATH AND DESTRUCTION WILL ALL ARRIVE SOON,
AVOIDING DEFEAT IS AN EASY ACHIEVEMENT,
BUT WINNING THE FIGHT IS THE REAL FEAT.

Description:

A heavy thrashing of the guitar drops the song straight in at the heavy end, with fast riffs and explosive drum beats urging the song forwards. Before long, Scott’s vocals come in. They’re not as harsh as they have been in the previous tracks, and have a lot more bounce in them as the verse starts.

As the verse progresses, a hard buzzing sound begins to grow as the bass line increases. When Scott’s first screamed vocals hit, the bass increases in pace, creating the traditional Dubstep “wobbing” sound that we are all so accustomed too in modern music. This crashes with Scott’s thundering screams and helps to increase the menace and metallic sound of the song.

Scott makes a growling inhalation just before the chorus truly kicks in. Then all hell breaks loose. The guitars are playing an intricate strumming pattern and picking patterns respectively, as well as the drum beat crashing with all sorts of symbols included. Scott’s low pitched exhaled screams can’t help but overpower the chorus, and give it a feeling of supremacy. As his final scream echoes out at the end of the verse, the first instrumental break/real drop occurs.

This incorporates all sorts of squealing and screeching noises that create a more intense drop of the bass than previously happened in the chorus. The guitar part is minimalized here, as the electronic elements of the song appear to take a firmer grasp. This doesn’t last for long though before Scott’s vocals begin again for a second verse.

Scott’s vocals vary a lot more in this second verse as the guitar part speeds back up to take control of the song again. His soft growl is replaced every other line by a hard screech that takes the track securely back towards the market that Scott Rose-Hilton is known for. The verse is short and ends abruptly.

This then leads into the second chorus, which is much like the first, except louder and more aggressive. The final screech of the verse is held for a lot longer as the base drops again for the second time, and is held for a long period of time over the top of it. This then leads into the final verse.

This verse has a much more Dubstep feel to the actual music, but is the only verse of the song which is entirely screamed; thus helping to make the transition from start to end of the track feel complete. The final line is screeched over nothing but a gently buzzing sound with the occasional light wob to slow the song right down. Then Scott’s vocals stop and the song finishes.

5. When Life Gives You Lemons, Eat the Fucking Lemons [0:41]

Caps = Screamed
Regular = Spoken

Lyrics:

[Spoken]
When Life Gives You Lemons

[Screamed]
EAT THE FUCKING LEMONS

Description:

A soft humming sound starts the song off, with a gentle piano loop merging into a soft plucking pattern on a guitar. The humming turns into a buzzing song within a few seconds and then someone makes a gently noise as if to clear their throat.

The first words are spoken, and as the last word of the line is said Scott’s barbaric roar drowns out any music that might have been playing as he screeches his line. Then the bass drops. The song goes out of control, with a variety of noises and screeches crashing into one another, the sound of symbols smashing and drums thudding creates a raw feel for the electronic artists.

The song then drops into the soft humming again and another throat sounds like it is being cleared. Then Scott roars one last time. The song finishes here.
