The song was written by Lexi Marie Taylor, and produced by Grant Matthews and Noah Ramsey. The track sees the production team blurring the line between pop and electronic music quite smartly, featuring light polished vocals and a very on-trend, vocal-chopped chorus accompanied by a tight, effervescent rhythm post-drop. “You got me, yeah yeah / I don't hear a word they say / You have nothing left to prove / Boy you got me, ooh / I love it that you're mine / I finally got it right this time.” It’s incredibly smooth and intricate, a promising taste of what’s to come from the talented artist. Songwriter's Comments Out of all the songs on my debut EP, this one is my favorite one. The reason why is because it's exactly how I'm feeling at the moment. It was added on last minute since I was still in the process of finalizing the song. I thought that this one would make a perfect fit to the concept of the album. I wanted to have a balance of love songs and break up songs. Although it didn't really turn out that way. At most, there's more love songs than break up songs but I don't think that's a bad thing. This particular one happens to be a love song. I just recently got into a new relationship and we've been dating for two months now. Usually when I'm in love I'm inspired to write and that happens to be the case. I'm very happy with how things are going with us. This song is very personal for me, and very honest. I just wanted it to be said that no matter what everyone thinks of him that I'm his and I'll always be there for them. I believe that I can see the best in people when others can't. This is one of those times, and if my fans are going through the same, they'll be able to relate. The remixed version is exclusively for the EP only and is available by purchasing the entire extended play through Apple Music and Google Play. It was written by Lexi Marie Taylor, and remixed by Kristopher Webb. The track sticks with Taylor's signature pop sound but with a more stripped and slowed down sound to it. However, similar to the original version, the concept stays the same as Taylor sings on the track about a love interest who you can't help but to fall for his irresistible charm. The track opens with Taylor speaking on how she and her love interest need to slow down but they find it impossible. She takes us through the song describing how her love interest makes her feel, and why she becomes lost in him. Songwriter's Comments I think that one of my favorite things when I find a song that I absolutely love is to hear a remix version of it. I love when various types of producers take the song that you made and remix it for you with their signature style. It's always uniquely produced for that specific producer so you're always going to get something different. I always wanted someone to remix one of my songs and it happened with my debut song. I was super excited when I heard it and so I reached out to Kristopher Webb. I told him what I thought about it and if I could put it on my debut extended play. He agreed and so that's what I did. Now I get to share it with my fans and I couldn't be happier. Unlike the original version which saw the production team blurring the line between pop and electronic music quite smartly, featuring light polished vocals and a very on-trend, vocal-chopped chorus accompanied by a tight, effervescent rhythm post-drop, the acoustic version is shorter and focuses more on the vocal talents from Taylor. “You got me, yeah yeah / I don't hear a word they say / You have nothing left to prove / Boy you got me, ooh / I love it that you're mine / I finally got it right this time.” Songwriter's Comments I really wanted to include a song that focused predominantly on my vocals without the production drowning it out. Having an acoustic song manages to have those aspects and so I included one on the EP. I already love the original version for "You Got Me,' and the acoustic version is great as well. This version is much shorter of course as a lot of the arrangement has changed for instance the chorus is repeated twice before the second verse. The song also ends differently than the original song as well. What's similar though is still the lyrics and the overall meaning behind the lyrics. I wanted the perfect song to end the EP and I feel that this song fits. It's nice and slow and just sets the vibe to bring things to an end.
