About the song

Who We Are is the second single off of AJ's upcoming untitled album the song was originally only supposed to have AJ on it but after re-listening to it he thought it needed something else he showed the song to friend and fellow musician Sonyae in hopes that she could help him figure out what it was missing Sonyae liked the song and began coming upwith lines for the song AJ loved what she had and asked her to feature on the track which she happily agreed to do the song is about partying and just having fun but AJ didn't want the song sounding like just another fun dance song he wanted it to sound a bit different so he contacted another friend Riley Bennett to help produce the track the song has a fun feel to it but doesn't sound like another dance song instead it sounds kind of motivational in a way the song isn't too quick but also not too slow and the production isn't too over the top the song opens up with the instrumental for a little bit then we hear AJ come in rapping this time instead of singing which we're not very use to in AJ's whole career this is probably the first time we've heard him rap and he's not bad at it either he's got a sort of confidence in his voice as he raps however after a little the rap ends and we hear AJ come in again this time singing the chorus of the song he doesn't add much energy or emotion to it which is understandable he sings smoothly fitting the sound of the song perfectly he didn't over do it but didn't exactly under do it with the singing either after the chorus ends we hear him come in for the next verse which is him rapping again kinda like before with that confidence in his voice as he continues going he then begins singing the chorus again after the second verse ends the chorus is sung and sounds the same as the first time we then hear Sonyae come in rapping now as the beat changes a little it sounds like it's building up in a way which it is and after her part we hear the song and AJ's vocals pick up just a little as he sings the chorus once more before the song comes to an end

"So here it is the second single from the album I'm really excited to release this one it's a really cool track that I really enjoyed working on just everything about it I loved recording it writing it the whole experience was great and working with Sonyae was a blast she's great some people make her out to be this horrible person but she's great tbh and I enjoyed getting to work on it with my buddy Riley he and I haven't seen each other in awhile so getting to hang out with that guy again was pretty cool anyway I started writing this song a little while ago I wrote a few other songs the day I wrote this one so I guess you could say I kinda got bit by the writing bug or whatever anyway this song is basically about partying, drinking, hooking up and smoking out and I know there are a bunch of songs out there similar but I just wanted to write about what I do what I think is fun and well it involves all of those and I love being young I think some people are just trying to grow up and be all professional already and if that's for you then cool cool but it ain't for me not yet anyway this song is just a fun song about the things I like and that's about it so yeah enjoy I guess"
