We had a great time recording the album. It's been a long year and a half since we got together for the Blood stuff. I was away doing solo work, and as far as I'm aware the other guys were busy with smoking pot and lying around in a daze most of the day.
One thing is for sure, it was nice to get away for a while from the whole "Alex P-gate" and back into the comfort of the studio.

Track 1 - Donna and Blitzen
The opening track was about a rocky relationship I had in the Blood break. Obviously the title is a play on the German for thunder and lightning. Donna was a 35 year old married girl I had met on tour in Sacramento in the USA. She was a fiery girl, and she always wanted a fight, and a bit of drama. I likened her to thunder on account of her massive thighs (sorry Donna).
The track is kinda dark for a Blood song, and a bit slow, especially for an album opener, but I think it leads well into the others. The fast paced, frantic end kinda echos my feelings when her husband burst in one night.

2 - Wandering Fear
This was written by SPG, our new drummer. What can I say? Dude likes a hell of a lot of double kick. I love this track, it's like a full on speed metal tune. God help the poor fucker when we play it live night on night though, he will be one tired motherfucker.

3 - Creator's Wrath
Working with Sara on this track was EPIC! The girl sort of drifted into the studio that day, and I sat open mouthed in the corner. She is one sexy beeeotch. We had the track laid down before she got there, so unfortunately she didnt stay too long.
I do enjoy the epic chorus on this song though, and Sara's haunting, dulcet tones, kinda p;lay well with my rasping throaty shit.

4 - Blackwater
Of all the tracks we put out on this record, I think that this one is the most Blood like. From start to finish it's just technical guitar shredding shit, non stop. I dont even think the song has a discernible chorus, it just kinda all mixes into a continuos son, almost like a train of thought of a madman. Fun to play though.

5 - Coincide
I think this is the song we had most fun on. Prior to writing this, the guys were talking about Zakk Wylde, so we decided to see how many pinched harmonics we could thow into one track.
47, is th official count by the way. Maybe it does sound ridiculous, but I love it.

6 - Miasma
Our producer actually hated this song. I wrote it, and when we had laid down just the guitar track as a rough guide, he said to me "No, fuck off!" and tried to refuse to record it. I took a piss in a wine bottle, and then I threatened to pour that shit on him. Lets just say it ended up on there. Why did he hate it? Apparently I wanted too many volume and tempo changes and it would take him days (which it did). But in the end, even he agreed that it sounded brutal as hell.

7 - Satan's Spawn
Al the dudes are huge fans of "Reaper" so we decided to write this song as a tribute. In amongst all the vile hatred I crammed into my lyrics, if you listen carefully you will hear me scream at the end of each chorus "Sam Oliver, Satans's Spawn". which we kinda disguised to see if any Reaper fans would pick it up, but hey I've told you now.

8 - Breakdown
I almost don't want to say it, but this song was written about our estranged ex guitarist Alex P. this is, I promise, final closure for us. AP is still part of the heart and sould of what Blood is about, even if I do hate his scrawny ass. Anyway, as you will hear, this track is full of anger, hence the pulsating riffs, and the sound of SPG trying to burst every part of his kit with his sticks.

9 - Freedomartyr
This is a political song, something that you wont hear from Wecz very often. I wrote it about Scotland (my country) and it's fight for freedom. It kinda parodys Braveheart, and mocks Alex Salmond, Scottish leader, for his foolhardy attempts at independance.

10 - I Kissed A Girl
It had been TOO long since Blood put out a cover song on an album. We love Katy Perry, and so this was a natural choice (sarcasm). The group vocals on the chorus are funny, I think, and it seems a nice light way to finish the album.
