Thick Chewy Crust frontman Bobby Cairo announced that the band is working on an "anti-Gaddafi single" in a blog posted earlier today on the band's website.Bobby Cairo: "To put it bluntly, I don't like the motherfucker. If I could get my hands on him I would rip his intestines from his body. His human rights abuses are too numerous to list in this blog. His advocacy of mass murder to silence peaceful protesters is absolutely unconscionable. Sue and I have decided to release an anti-Gaddafi single for two main purposes: We want to do everything in our power to raise public awareness to the extent of this lunatic's crimes, but more pertinently we want to raise funding for the victims of Gaddafi's continued reign of terror. Sue seeks to raise humanitarian aid, while I seek to raise funds in support of anti-Gaddafi militants who aim to drive Gaddafi from power and overthrow his entire regime, including his weasely, bald-headed freak of a son.
"Unfortunately the anti-Gaddafi forces are facing an uphill battle, due in no small part to the laws that bar Libyan civilians from arming themselves. At the present time Libyan protesters are using little more than makeshift weapons to defend themselves against Gaddafi's militant thugs. That's not right and I aim to change it. We take the Second Amendment for granted here in the US, but if the time ever comes for us to overthrow the government we will be adequately armed. I want to make sure that the Libyans who wish to take up arms against their government are able to do so. The money that we raise with this single will be used to purchase weaponry for the Libyan people, in addition to items of basic necessity such as food and medical provisions.
"Due to the urgency of the Libyan crisis, Sue and I have made this single our top priority. We indefinitely postponed rehearsals for our upcoming tour in order to complete this single and release it to the public as soon as possible. Thankfully the writing and recording process has gone very smoothly (and quickly) and we are now in the final mixing stage. The single will be called "Burn Gaddafi At The Stake" and I think that title speaks for itself. I would describe the titular track/A-side of the single as slow, menacing, stripped-down lo-fi rock. There's no fanfare or excess; we're making a point-blank statement that everybody can understand and appreciate.
"The single will also feature two B-sides. The first is a track called "Dictator's Day To Die" which has a 70's hard rock sound and puts Sue's powerful vocals on full display. The second B-side is a cover version of Celtic Frost's legendary track "Dethroned Emperor" performed in a slowed-down, doom metal vein. I like to think that the cowbell at the beginning of "Dethroned Emperor" marks the demise of Gaddafi!
"We will be announcing the full details for the release of the single very shortly, my Crustaceans. Please check back often and continue spreading word of the R
evolution!"
