The above picture was taken by a hospital wall, when Joshy Firecracker was taken in after saving fellow musician Regan Robbins aka. Raven Comatose from almost certain death via a Molotov cocktail at The Dirty Bastard Hotel And Casino. He got a faceful of fire himself, the only thing saving his skin being that he'd had a lot of cosmetic surgery on top of it. (Only Joshy Firecracker.) Just one of the many hair-raising events in the life of Firecracker 47, a band formed in early February 2009, from the ashes of felinemo band The Nightside Bikithan Cat Collective.
Today I, Bikki (and no I'm not a fucking zombie - there's no fucking in it), am here with the full band - Joshy (vocals), his twin sister Roxy (guitar; also of The Mind Bandits), James D. Kairiri (bass guitar & backing vocals) and his wife Katie (manager, always considered part of the band). Yup, that's every current member. Hang on. Joshy, Roxy, James, Katie .... what about Mikki!? Misty 'Mikki' Moo, F47 drummer and backing vocalist, has officially left the building.
"She'll be back," says Joshy. Aww, he's so cute! "She just wants a bit of space, and then she'll be back."
James shakes his head. "She's gone, Josh. If she comes back, then sure, she can come back and ...."
"NO!" shouts Roxy. "Mikki's not being let anywhere near us, that bitch."
Guess who had 'musical differences'? Yup, that's right. James and Mikki, the co-founders of F47, have always been at loggerheads, but they just dealt with it. Mikki even considered her and James fighting to be a 'band quirk'. However .... enter a rock chick who's younger, blonder, edgier and with a lot more eyeliner. Roxana Katraba 'Roxy' Firecracker, guitarist of Firecracker 47, advertises 'Toxic Angel' eye make-up"Mimi [TNBCC guitarist] and myself were never problems for Mikki, as Mikki was 'further forward' in the line-up," says Katie Kairiri, who was set up to manage TNBCC in 2006, by Lewis Mason, formerly of My Freaky Valentine, and myself. "Mikki was a consistent frontwoman for the Nightside Bikithans, and just bled egotism, which worked. She got on well with Lewis' choices of band members." Sitting right here, thanks. "However, being 'demoted' from singer to drummer hit her hard. Much as I loved Mikki in front, she was nothing compared to hilarious, charismatic Joshy. And his sister - well, she wasn't the best guitarist, but she was a guitarist."
"She was much like the elephant in the corner to start with - yup, that fat!" jokes Joshy. "But really, Mikki just kind of took Roxy under her wing, tried to take power," said busty brother continues, "and it worked too well - Roxy was out there kickin' some arse! She got a boyfriend, she did some modelling things, she even got a second band. And that was where it all went wrong for Mikki. She's the same age as James which is really old, like, grandma age ...."
"Cheers bro," says James, age 31. "You get the idea. But it ain't just Mikki, the band's on a break. Don't forget about the rest of us having lives, Father Ted Crilly!"
Joshy giggles. "That would be an ecumenical matter. The church is running itself, but Melbourne needs a bishop once in a while. Roxy, of course, has her bunch of misfits."
"Justine, Donna, Rosie and I aren't misfits. We're Mind Bandits." Roxy crosses her arms. "It's more than Mikki's got, which is nothing. Are we keeping up with the Kairiris?"
"Two months to go!" James rubs his wife's baby belly. "I'll be by Katie's side, family comes first. Not that you two aren't like annoying little sisters to me."
Joshy throws a bright pink stiletto shoe at his bandmate (Joshy may work for the church, but old habits die hard), and bursts into hysterical laughter. "He's everyone's annoying little sister," says Katie, 'glowing'. "Anyway, we'll be back, for sure. If this is an easy baby and I learn how to play the drums, we'll be back!"
"Didn't stop Mikki," Roxy grumbles. OK, that's enough. Misty 'Mikki' Moo - where is she going from here!?((OOC : I don't know if anyone remembers my bands, but I felt like writing this. Hope you enjoyed it, and more 'explanations' coming soon. Maybe.)) |
