 Brief interview with Lauren England and Alex Leuiso of pop-punk band Big Light ShowQ: How would you describe what your debut album is going to sound like?
Alex Leuiso : I’d have to say that it’s going to be pop-punk crossed with alternative rock with some general pop influences. We’re aiming for songs that will get people up and moving, alongside songs with lyrics that make you really think about situations that are occurring nowadays.
Q: Your first single I Found Out (Finding Out Is The Best Part) charted at 11th after it’s first week, did you expect this to happen?
Alex Leuiso: not in the slightest. We didn’t expect for it to even get into the charts, but it’s given us as a band more confidence with our future releases and has pushed us to write more material that seems to be wanted.
Lauren England: It made me feel like we’ve got a chance of getting somewhere already. I feel so confident and ready for anything. It’s great!
Q: Who would each of you say are your biggest influences in the music business?
Alex Leuiso: My personal influences are Ryan Ross Hernandez (former PANIC! vocalist and solo artist), Eric Quillington (lead vocalist of Infinite) and Matt Urie (vocalist and lead guitarist of Suburban Sunrise), they’ve all got such brilliant talent and I hope to have abilities that are equal to theirs in the future.
Lauren England: I’d say that mine has to be Ashley Perry (PANIC! vocalist) ever since I started listening to PANIC! and wanting to be a singer I’d have to say that I’ve looked up to her.
Q: How does it feel to be supporting Suburban Sunrise on their mini-US tour?
Alex Leuiso: It feels great. Considering as they are a huge influence on our music it was just a shock to all of us. We’re looking forward to the tour so much. We’ll also be playing with them on the Idols & Anchors tour with The Verdict Is Vengeance.
Q: Are the rumours of you too dating true?
Lauren England: Not at all! Lots of people have made that assumption, but it’s far from true. I’m already taken by someone else in the music industry, but I don’t think I’ll be telling who it’s about it just yet.
Alex Leuiso: I’m confused as to why people think we are dating, we’re more like a brother and sister than anything, she’s one of my best friends and that’s the way it’ll always be.
Q: Any conformed release dates for any new material?
Lauren England: We don’t have any set dates yet, but we’re hoping to have released the lead single from our album at some point in April, and then are hoping to have the album out for the summer.
