The man keeps smiling.
"Go on."
She sighs a little.
"I just, I wish we were fine you know? I mean we've had like the rockiest relationship I've ever seen but I've gotten to the point where I don't wanna argue with him anymore. I just wanna be his wife and be happy with him, but every conversation turns into a fight."
He nods.
"I see. Well I'm sure he loves you. Maybe if you didn't walk out and talked."
Gia laughs a little.
"I get annoyed easily." She sighs again. "Marriage is harder then being in a relationship." |

After a while of silence, the old man turns and looks at Scott.
"You love her son?"
"More than anything. I just don't know what's happening to us."
The old man sighs and takes a bottle of whiskey from his bag, offering Scott a drink.
"It's just stress son. Don't worry. You just got married. Of course there will be stress."
Scott takes a drink from the bottle.
"And does it ever stop? He asks
The old man nods.
"It sure will. You just gotta try." |

A few minutes later Gia is still talking to the guy.
"I know it's weird but that's how we met. I fell in love with him right after he took me out on our first date, Awards show. First time he stood me up, that jerk. I didn't even know he was engaged! But I forgave him and I love him. He does stupid things and irritates me sometimes but I love him. We've been through a lot."
"So...why aren't you with him?"
"Because...I had to get away before I got upset. It's always Code Red when I go silent or don't talk to him. See he's kinda clingy and shows his feelings and I'm just now starting to do that so it's taking me a while to get comfortable."
"Ahh, well have you told him that?"
She finishes her smoothie.

The old man tries to break another moment of silence.
"So...where is the lady wife now?"
Scott shrugs and stares at the water.
"Oh. Well don't you wanna find her?"
Scott sits in silence and stares at the water.
The old man sighs,
"You can't keep it all bottled up you know. Talk to her."
"I just. I want her to know that I love her."
"Have you told her that?" the old man asks.
"Yeah. But I'm a horrible husband to her." |

He grins and gets up.
"Well thanks Mr."
She shakes his hand and he walks off.
"Well...at least someone listened."
She gets up and walks around some more. |

The old man sits for a while longer, talking to Scott before he reels his rod in.
"There's nothing biting today I'm afraid son."
"How do you know?"
"I've been coming here long enough to know these waters my friend. We won't catch any fish today."
He reels in the other rod.
"I'll see ya around son. Do yourself a favour and go talk to the wife."
Scott watches as the old man leaves, and then he lies down and looks at the clouds again. |
