Afsa Rhia Yasmin Talah, known professionally as (A)Rhia [Pronounced: Ay-Ree-A] is a British-Pakistani rapper, song-writer, singer and producer. She was born on 7th March 1987 (age 24) to Dr. Hussain Talah and Janet Gordon. (A)Rhia has described her music as left field pop with abstract rap.

Growing up in Britain with a wealthy family, (A)Rhia had a very good upbringing. She attended private school and received almost anything she wanted, apart from happiness that was. On her childhood she has this to say;

"People used to say that I was ungrateful because I received almost anything I asked for and I still wasn't happy but the truth of the matter was that I didn't have the most important thing in life, a caring family. I'm not saying my parents don't love me because they do but growing up, dad was always concentrating on work whilst mum stressed about bills and argued with him. It seemed like all the gifts they bought me were just to keep me quiet and out of the way. I still remember the day I was sitting in my room surrounded by all of my toys, I was 8 at the time I think, and I remember thinking to myself 'I can't be bothered with these toys I've played with them to death!, what I really want is to see my dad' so I went into his study and he was at his desk, I went over and gave him a hug and I remember the EXACT words he said; 'Afsa, why don't you leave alone I have more important things to do than mess about with you'. It kind of has its positives though because it inspires the music I'm writing at the moment."

(A)Rhia is an Atheist despite her mother being a Catholic and her father being Muslim. She believes that 'the only God's are ourselves'. She attended a non-denominational primary and secondary school in Manchester.

On June 23rd 2010, at the age of 23, (A)Rhia gave birth to a baby girl, Samah. The father of the baby was a pupil who attended the same school as (A)Rhia, however the pair broke up before the baby was born but still remained in contact. On November 19th 2010, Samah passed away due to Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

(A)Rhia has written over 70 songs in the last year and has also produced several songs for underground artists. She also worked with Stefani Vola on her debut single; "You Sent Me Flying".

She is currently unsigned and is working on her debut EP. (A)Rhia says if no label shows interest, she'll be more than happy to do it all independently.

Track
"Bang" is the first track on (A)Rhia's debut EP 'Government Warning'. The song opens with a hevy beating of drums alongside a disfunctional sounding synth that immediately gets the adrenaline pumping. This whole sound continues throughout the song until (A)Rhia gets to the spoken ward part of the song; here the music sounds muffled as if heard through a wall before slowly rising in volume again. However, when the backing track gets back into full swing, the drums become more aggressive as if someone is pouding them. When (A)Rhia stops singing the track continues for another 20 seconds with just the synth playing. The song fades out with the sound effect of a heart monitor flatlining.


Meaning
The song is basically about the evil in the world and no matter how much you try to make a perfect world by locking up criminals, killing dictators and ending wars there will still always be one person out there to do harm.

(A)Rhia said; "Looking on comments on music videos I see a lot of artists get hate just because they release a so called 'rubbish song'. They get death threats and everyone turns on them. People seem to care more about the amount of dislikes a video has on YouTube than important things going on in the world. So writing this song was inspired by those horrible comments, they said to me 'do something wrong or something I dislike I will kill you and single you out'. If that happened for real and everyone was killed for doing something 'wrong' then nobody would be left in the world. That'ss what this song represents, aiming for perfection by killing all the bad things but in doing so by killing you then become 'bad' and it's just a viscious cycle."
