Scott smiles and rubs her back a little. "I hope so babe. Are you bringing Sophie Soph too?"

He looks confused

"Who's Ashley Gi?"

Scott thinks for a minute. "Seriously, I think I have dementia or some shit. I have no memory of meeting anyone called Ashley...or any babysitter. At all. Ever."

He screws up his eyes. "Are you sure I was there? I really honestly don't remember. I think I'd have remembered such a weird name too."

When Scott wakes up, Gia is still asleep, still annoyed that he "forgot" her birthday. Scott smiles a little mischievously and gets out of bed slowly. He kisses Gia on the forehead, taking care not to wake her up. He then quietly leaves the room and heads downstairs to the kitchen.

A while later, Scott comes back up to the bedroom carrying a tray. On the tray are some homemade pancakes, some french toast and a glass of orange juice. Scott sits gently on the side of the bed beside Gia and smiles. He gently places a hand.on her shoulder and whispers. "Gia....Gi....wake up babe."

Scott smiled when Gia awoke at last. He looked at her and gently rubbed her arm as she rubbed her eyes. "Its for you babe. You didn't really think I'd forget your birthday did you?"

Scott laughs and shakes his head. "Well no. I remembered babe. Soph and I have been planning your gifts for weeks." He stands up after handing her the food. "Also...I know you're not huge on flowers. But I saw this pink and purple bouquet and knew you'd love it." He hands her the flowers and gives her a long kiss with his hands on her cheeks. "Happy birthday babe."

Scott chuckles. "You did? Then you sure were good at acting mad last night!" He sticks his tongue out at her. "I'm sorry for kidding about that babe. I shouldn't have made you think that at all." He smiles as she starts to eat her breakfast. "Oh...actually...wait a second." He leaves the room.

A few minutes later, Scott comes back into the room with Sophie in his arms. She is cranky and rubbing her eyes a little, but she is wearing a tshirt with the words "Happy birthday to my mummy!" written across it, and she looks up when she sees Gia sitting in bed. "Mum!" Sophie says. Scott laughs and puts Sophie on the end of the bed. "Go say happy birthday to mummy Soph," he says, and she crawls up the bed towards Gia.

Scott smiles. "I had to wake her up so she could show you her t-shirt. It would have been rubbish if she didn't let you see it." He chuckles as Sophie curls up on Gia's stomach. "I think she's gonna go back to sleep there anyway." Scott smiles. "You want some gifts do you?" He goes to the wardrobe and brings out an envelope. "Card first," he smiles, handing her the envelope. The card has a drawing of a family of cartoon bears on the front and says: "Happy birthday to the world's greatest wife and mommy."

Inside the card there are two messages. The first from Scott reads: "My beautiful wife, hope you have a wonderful day and a perfect birthday. Here's to the first of many many birthdays we spend together as a couple and a family. I love you more and more every day, and I always will. You are the greatest. Happy birthday, Love S xxxxxxxxx." On the other side is a message from Sophie which has clearly been written with Scott's right hand to make it look like a child wrote it. It says: "To my mummy. You are the bestest mummy and bestest friend ever. You always look after me and you are the bestest person in the whole wide world. Love from Sophie XoXoXoXoXoXo." Scott has also written the S in Sophie backwards to make it look more childish.

Scott laughs. "Yeah...I let her write my side as well to practice her handwriting. She's nearly as good as me!" He chuckles. "Awww we love you too. That's why we got you looooaaaadsa stuff." He walks back to the wardrobe and brings out a bag full of gifts. The first few gifts are standard things like expensive perfume and a box of chocolates, but then he brings out a small rectangular box. He kisses Gia and hands her the box. "Happy birthday babe." Inside is a white gold necklace. Hanging from it is a small heart pendant frame with a hollow centre. Suspended between the edges of the heart are four gold letters in a row. "S.G.S.B" Scott smiles.
