Scott had been lying on the floor drifting in and out of consciousness when he heard Gia let out a bloodcurdling scream. He opened his eyes like something had just given him a defibrilator style shock to the brain. Looking up, he saw Alex whisper something into Gia's ear and then throw her backwards. Scott watched his wife fall to the ground, his hazy mind still confused by goings on as he looked across to where Alex now stood, laughing at the both with the evil hearty laugh that chilled his spine. Scott saw a glint in the after noon sun as the light struck the piece of metal in Alex's hand, and at once he realised what it was.
When his eyes fixated on the knife, his gaze traveled down it slowly, seeing the trail of blood that painted the once shiny blade a morbid and deep red. Fear struck him, and all at once he managed to scramble to his knees, adrenaline the only driver he now had.
Looking down at Gia, Scott saw her lying with her eyes closed, and a white hot fear spread from his very core to the ends of his figertips. Where her stomach was covered by her hand, Scott lifted her limb carefully, scared of what he would see. His worse fear was realised when he saw the blood on Gia's palm and fingers, and he turned his eyes back to her stomach, the knife wound on her abdomen from the injury inflicted by Alex clear to see. The tears flowed, burning his cheeks as they made their way along his bruised and cut skin.
Falling forward slightly, Scott rested his head on her shoulder.
"Gia...wake up. Wake up babe. Please," he pleaded with her.
