“Yeah, the two of us live here,” David says.
Rose nods, slightly amused. Adam kind of reminds her of a typical dad being mindful of his kid, and it’s oddly endearing.
David starts to get up, leaving his empty glass on the table.
“Well, I guess we should head out too. Tomorrow we’ve got that meeting with Fabriano and Ruby. Zafari’s coming back from the U.S… just for us. Wow.”
Rose shoots David a look—part sweet, part warning. Maybe there’s something she’d rather he didn’t say out loud.
“My fiancé and my son are waiting for me at home… I left them playing with Play-Doh. Looks like I’ve got a cleaning night ahead of me,” she adds with a cute shrug and a smile.

David responds by shaking Adam’s hand. He holds his gaze for a good ten seconds, eyes locked, and doesn’t let go right away. For a moment, it feels like their hands are glued together—as if he’s letting Adam feel just how soft his palm is. Then, suddenly, he lets go, flashing the warmest smile he’s shown all evening. A smile that, until now, had only really graced the face of his sweet friend Rose.
One of those smiles where even the eyes are smiling. Genuine.
“It was nice for me too.”
Their hands part. Rose gently rubs the shoulders of both Elyar and Adam with her hand.
“See you soon, guys. Have a lovely evening.”
Then she looks at Adam with a sweet, motherly smile.
Take care of Elyar.
