So far Human and The Stranger have stuck out to me really good, this album looks like it's going to be great, can't wait wait to listen to it. I'm the only one in my band who's into your music and I think you are great!

11. The Starlit Battlefield (Her Silent Curse Part II) (4:03) (Heavy Metal/ Death Metal) (Smith/ Del Petro)

The song starts with the furious blastbeat intro, and then it slows itself down a tad, into a ferociously heavy riff. It settles itself onto this riff, pounding itself into oblivion whilst the bass is reminiscent of the classical heavy metal bands, during the first years of its existence. This bass riff is at the same volume as the lead guitar, so it’s more audible. The rhythm guitar volume is turned down a tad, to make sure the monumental lead riff is firmly planted inside your brain. The rhythm guitar riff is slightly more technical, and is almost a reprise of Bludgeoned into Submission. The segment towards the end is slightly more melodic, with clean group vocals, rather than the harsh screaming in the other parts of the song. It is also more versatile, the lead guitar sometimes becoming familiar with that of Coheed and Cambria, and the bass still playing at lightning speed. This little guitar piece is both extremely melodic, yet heavy and has a lot of similarities with old Mind. This is the song most like what you would get on the other albums, especially The Juggernaut, since it has the same feel around it. It then fades out into the sound of screaming and suffering, supposed to be familiar to what it’s like inside of hell. Or some shit like that. This song has potential to be a single, since it’s one of the more basic and traditional of the songs on the whole album, especially as it’s only 4 minutes long. The production is clear, but with less special effects than the rest of the album.

Jason: “This is a follow up to Bludgeoned [into Submission], basically. They were written in the same mindset and are very similar lyrically. The last one, however, was written in the mindset of an ancient battlefield, this one’s more futuristic and shit. It was originally called Buried Beneath, but we thought The Starlit Battlefield would have more relevance to the themes of the lyrics. Although it isn’t the most diverse and remarkable musically, the concept to it’s much more interesting.”

Lyrics:
Fluorescent tubes of dark matter,
The curse of gravity halts the air,
Riding high, yet captain’s lost systems control,
We all fall down again,

Deadly pale angel wings,
Cannot save me now,
Channelling the spirits of breathing creatures,
We all fall down again!

Tonight we raise hell, my brothers,
Descend into the eternal darkness,
Battling flames of the evil ones,
And hordes of the demonic force

Falling down,
Falling down,
Falling down,
And deeper again

Falling down,
Falling down,
Falling down,
And deeper again,
Ride my warriors!

12. Paladin of the Shattered Fairytale (8:19) (Progressive Metal/ Experimental Metal) (Smith/ Del Petro)

An electronic, creepy sequence begins the song, just that on its own. The sequence sounds like a warped version of the Unown Pokémon Theme. This sequence plays for about 30 seconds, before drums start to tap in. After a couple of seconds, the bass and guitar join in as well, all playing this one creepy sequence. The electronic pattern that started it off is still in the background, but barely audible over the other instruments now. Then it all goes silent, apart from that creepy bassline, which carries on, except slightly slower. Then a marching drum beat and a slow, heavy and extremely morbid guitar riff come back in. The lyrics to the first part are also in this segment of the song. They are strained and operatic to begin with, but become slightly heavier and deeper as the verse carries on. As the verse ends, the electronic sequence and backing come into full play again. The second verse is a child’s choir singing to the tune of the sequence, which fits in surprisingly well. A glockenspiel can also be heard now working with the drums. Beneath the choir layer, you can hear what sounds like very deep sighing. This electronic sequence continues for a minute or so, until a huge, catastrophic amount of layered guitar pieces blind their way into the song, along with a furious blastbeat of drums and a blinding array of bass lines. The last verse is screamed in traditional Mind fashion, and the lines “This is the damnation!” and “Damnation!” have two vocal layers, like Alice of Antioch; one in a high pitched scream, and the other in a traditional death grunt. After the lyrics have been completed, huge arpeggios and solos blister the song into oblivion, and it eventually finishes with all the instruments fading out, except a glockenspiel, which plays the original sequence from the beginning.

Jason: “This song is the sign of the album truly coming to its end. It is big, it is epic at times, but it is also mournful in its melodies. It’s got certain doom aspects in it. Of course, it isn’t the end of the album, but it is the penultimate track, getting you ready for things to come. This song could have been used of any of the conceptual albums we’ve done, but the tone fits more in here. The song is about how we victimize people very easily. The paladin in question is supposed to be the villain of the album, all the dark and morbid lyrics are based on this paladin. This album isn’t conceptual, but I think a little paladin exists inside all of us. You see the dude on the front cover? The paladin. The soldier in all the war themed songs? The paladin. Everything is from the perspective of the paladin. He isn’t actually evil, but as I said, he’s been victimized by his enemies and accepts his death. We chose this as the title track because we thought the song explained the album perfectly, in the lyrics and musically. It was originally called Escape from this Hell.”

Lyrics:
Heavenly blood seeps throughout your veins,
A pleasure, distrust, a sign, surely?
Sign of the wrath of the wishing well?
A day in the life of an innocent villain,
Whose story is written out by man,
Love letters marked with a cross at the end,
We chose our god, and now he ceases to exist.

Everything crashes into place,
The paladin accepts his fate,
The top of the tower seems so far away,
Yet his movement’s fuelled by hate.

The last of his kind,
The victor to mind,
Raining upon creation,
A summer’s death near,
Cowards shall fear,
This is the damnation!

Damnation!

13. Styx Overture/ Symphony of the Underworld (21:08) (Experimental Metal/ Symphonic Metal) (Smith/ Del Petro/ Demmel/ Edwards/ Thornton)

Styx Overture begins with an orchestral build up of wind and brass instruments slowly. It gradually gets quieter as it progresses, although it is still fairly large. After the build up, a lone violin comes in playing a reprise of The Stranger. The percussion, wind and brass section join in at this. There is a drum roll for about 10 seconds and then it disperses into silence. This is the end of the Styx Overture. Out of that nothingness, comes a quiet acoustic guitar. It is playing a traditional English folk riff and it continues to do this for a while. After about 2 minutes, a Theremin joins in with them, playing eerie, spacey music over the top. Sitars are also present again now, playing the same riff as the acoustic. The only vocals in the whole of the piece are quietly sung cleanly here, with Jason almost breathing the lyrics out slowly. Gradually, the riff gets slightly more upbeat, and all the other instruments disappear. The acoustic riff gets faster and faster, until it reaches a breaking point. Then, suddenly, a huge flurry of drumming and a solitary power chord from Jason’s guitar comes flying in. Then Aaron, who was on the acoustic, plays the riff, except on his electric. This carries on, with dual guitar solos erupting in random places everywhere, and occasionally drumming ones. After a few minutes, all the instruments drop out, apart from the bass, which plays a technical solo for half a minute. Once again, all the instruments drop back in, except this time; they’re joined once again by the orchestral instruments playing a grand backdrop to this piece. It then goes more solemn and downbeat again as it all goes quiet and Aaron returns to his acoustic. Instead of the normal riff, he plays a completely different riff, fast paced, but mournful and melancholy. Then slowly, a little drum build up erupts into a doomy, loud, gargantuan riff with the two electrics back to dual guitar solos and a riff like thunder playing heavily. The violins are also still playing at this point. It then sinks back into the mournful riff on the electrics, with the drums sounding like they’re being played on a sheet of metal. Then, the riff picks up and Aaron goes into a huge guitar solo for around about a minute. The whole piece then unexpectedly all fades out, leaving a slow, emotional piano piece rounding it all up. The glockenspiel from The Stranger then makes another appearance, except the section’s played backwards this time, leaving a spooky aftertaste. The sound of church bells chiming ends the song. Slowly, in the background, you can hear the quiet voices of children playing and laughing, for a short period of about 10 seconds. This is taken from a childhood video of Jason, which has been re-mastered. Then, silence. Nothing but silence.

Jason: “This song is naturally about death, as you can see. Loving the ones you hate, hating the ones you love. Love isn’t always such a joyous thing. In this song, the said paladin is in the underworld, back with his friends, loves and enemies who have died. This is our biggest piece yet, musically. It’s fucking huge. It’s like a proper orchestra we hired, except we played our pathetic instruments over this grandiose, magnificent thing. Probably the highlight of our career, this song. Fuck it, we’ll never get any better than this, so there’s no point in trying! It’ll give our critics a rest. The intro to it, Styx Overture, was written after the actual song. We thought it was so big, it needed a sort of intro, ya know?”

Lyrics:
You, you were,
The thorn in the side of my ego,
The crown of thorns on my head,
Yet I love you,
Love you for reasons I don’t quite know,
Reasons that don’t exist,
This symphony,
Is dead.

OOC: I've been around the forum for almost two years now, got here around September '08, few months before the server went down. As far as I can remember, this has been the best album description, I've ever read/seen. All I can say is that, you've influenced a lot for my next track by track description, although it probably won't be nearly as well arranged as this one. I think ever roleplayer on this forum both good and bad, have to appreciate roleplays like this. You did a fantastic job, and I don't see anyone doing something like this and as good, anytime soon.

OOC: You've basically gotten praise from every single person on this website, and you deserve it. This album was amazingly described, and I can't imagine anybody being able to top this. Fantastic work, man!
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

OOC: I hope it does inspire people, ya know? I think doing it track-by-track gets you a lot more comments, because you stretch it for longer. I did have lot of influence from Panic! definitely. A lot of RPers influenced me. I think abother major one is Synxhard, his song descriptions are awesome. Also, Gorloche is amazing, although I haven't seen an RP from him in ages. A lot of RPs go unnoticed which is sad, so I'm just happy that people are actually taking time to read this and comment.

Most definitely, that's one thing I took notice that you and Synxhard have a lot of similarities and it's good to see he inspired you. Also I don't know if he is inspired by him or not but Troy and AJ have a lot of similarities as well.

But anyways, like one person said, sometimes the best RP's go unnoticed or without replies (Like Panic's RP's). Which I think is unfair since his RP's are amazing!
To me I don't care no more, I'll keep doing my best and if people want to act like they are the shit freak them. This is just a game and I play it to pass my time. If i see that it gets boring I stop playing it, it's that simple. But I sure know i improved a lot from where i started and i worked my way up, so I think anyone who is fairly new should have that attitude as well.

Couldnt agree more. A lot of stuff on here gets ignored when its actually really solidly done. My favourite RPers at the moment are Laurelles, Synx, Girlspice and steph. I think that c4ajoh and infinite are also doing really well at the moment though and could be up there soon.

ooc: I have to say you've made me want to seriously get back into doing RP's after that. I was thinking today whilst pushing my lawnmower all over the city about where to start and all that (didnt have a great deal of luck), that I should get back into it, revive a band or two or characters etc as it really is a good deal of fun for me even if I have been rather inactive. It's all about the enjoyment factor...once again dude, nice work...gotta ask you, where did you get those awesome fonts for your song titles?
