The forums were buzzing last night as news of unreleased Mind tracks, possibly for their next album due to be released towards the beginning of 2011, were leaked last night. Very few people knew about this demo, apart from staff who assisted in the making of it. Rumours that it is the first in a series of demos were later scrapped that night by the leader of the group, Jason Smith.

Jason Smith wrote:
Last night, myself and the rest of the band heard that someone had leaked a demo we recorded. Since everything's already come out, I might as well release some background information. We started recording a couple of weeks after we finished Shattered Fairytale, since we still had loads more ideas for another album. The next album, we can confirm, will be a conceptual sequel to Shattered Fairytale, that's certain. The songs were recorded at my house, and were usually written on the spot. I just toyed about with them for a bit. The sound on it is very raw, none of it's been produced properly, so the quality's rubbish, I'm afraid. We never planned to release the demo, or at least, not until the next album was done. A couple of the songs, such as The Nights Shore and Amphigory Abyss were written quite a while ago and we've been working on them for a long time. We cannot confirm that any of the songs will be on the album YET, but they may be. A couple of them probably will, but there are some on there we're gonna drop, definitely.

We don't really care that it's been leaked. It's not like we're gonna lose anything. It just shows that our fans are interested in us and I hope that you enjoy the leak, my friends. There have also been rumours that we're planning to release a series of demos, but that's a load of pish. We're gonna wrap up touring and other projects, then we're gonna start work on our next album. In fact, we encourage you to have a listen to it, see what you think. We'll be postng the link on our Facebook and Twitter.

Love from Jason, Aaron, Harry and Rob.

All we are aloud to show you for now is the track listing and length of the songs, since, as Jason said in the statement, the songs aren't complete and the recording isn't done properly.

Demo track listing.

1. Amphigory Abyss (4:29)
2. The Nights Shore (3:59)
3. Atlantis (5:37)
4. Engulfing Grace in Blood and Fire (3:01)
5. Nuclear Mother (5:22)
6. Where the Sun Sets (5:01)

Comments on Minds unofficial fan site have been numerous this morning. Here is some of them.

mindhead666 - HELL TO THE FUCKING YES!!1! THIS IS PURE MIND, SOME OF THEIR BEST STUFFFF! METAAAAAL

Jasonisasexybeast - Yeah, a real mixture here. You have the sorta roots in Amphigory Abyss, and some of Shattered Fairytale in songs like The Nights Shore and Engulfing Grace... I've never seen Mind do a proper ballad, so Where the Sun Sets makes a pretty cool change.

kissmyxanthia - whats ths shit??? seriously mind have gone soft. where the sun sets? hate it. sure, amphigory abyss and atlantis are pretty hevy but it doesnt make up for the soft ones.

EddieHitler - What the hell is kissmyxanthia on? This is pure genius. It mixes brilliant heaviness with great musicianship. Where the Sun Sets is my new fave song by Mind.

FreeYourMind42 - Is this actually Mind? Sorry, it just doesn't sound right... i wish they could sound like The Juggernaut again. That was pretty awesome. This isn't what i've grown to know and love about them.

MetalGrrrrl - Why's everyone just commenting on one song? Everyone seems to have forgotten The Nights Shore. Easily one of the best Mind songs ever. If they don't release that as a single, they are missing out on something... I mean, it's dark, brooding, yet strangely fist-pumping and headbangable.

Brotherofmetal - It's definitely unusual... but that's why I love Mind. This looks to be a new era of metal.

So, this demo has set the metal community alight, but can it point as to which direction their next album will sound like? Only time will tell.
Awards (stroking myself and thinking I'm superior):
@Chaos awards:
Best Band - Mind
Best Album - Shattered Fairytale by Mind
Technical Ecstasy - Jason Smith (x3)

Best Producer - Jason Smith

A leaked Mind demo! Yay, my mood just shot up about a billion happy points because of this. You guys have been on incredible evolutionary path with your music, and this only strengthens it! If these songs are any indication, the conceptual sequal to Shattered Fairytale is really going to be something special. I can't wait for more!

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

What comes to mind when you hear of Mind? A totally mind blowing rock band and this just proves it!
