Thanks largely to the band's failed relationship with Infinite's famed Eric Quillington, Pisces has assumed an interesting position in the music industry. Most people know them because of their connection to Infinite, but very few are interested in the band's actual music. With the upcoming release of their debut EP, and their increasingly popular performances around the club circuit, all of that seems to be on the verge of changing.

The beginnings of Pisces came about when the thrash band Alpharian (originally comprised of Alex Flux singing, Eric Quillington on guitar, Greg Oldson on bass, and Rick Vandervoot on drums), broke up due to Quillington's increasing want to play different music. With Quillington and Oldson off to form Octopus Arson Club (the beginnings of Infinite), Rick Vandervoot and Alex Flux were determined not to be left in the dust. Deciding to radically change their style to a style of indie rock, and realizing Flux's aggressive singing wouldn't fit the new direction, the band was completely changed. Flux turned to playing guitar, Rick became lead singer, and the two enlisted the help of friends Russel Tong and Stephanie Botch for the new band.

The newly changed band (still called Alpharian), initially had many problems. Flux was initially highly resistant to the change in music, while shy and withdrawn Vandervoot was unwilling to become the frontman of the band. These problems were answered in an unusual way; graduation. As high school ended, and college approached, Stephanie quit the band to begin to persue career ambitions. Her replacement, Kenny Namowitz, quickly became the 'leader' of the band they'd been missing for so long. At his suggestion, the band completely severed the link to their past, and renamed themselves Pisces. Driven by new found determination following Namowitz's arrival, the band spent the next several years slowly gaining an audience through their live shows. The band's efforts are now being realized, and Pisces has never seemed closer to success.

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

Thank you! Each member of the band has a very different mentality and thinking process, which I think contributes to our unique sound. If every member was the same, I think Pisces would incredibly boring. I'm the same as you; I like different and unique things!
