Review:
The opener "We The Vigils" comes bursting out of the box like a rabid dog with it's wild, nasty garage band sound giving the clear impression that this album will even further stray away from the typical Gothic Rock sound. And it certainly does with tracks like "Seven Women For Satan" that sounds like a Middle Eastern lounge act, the Industrial carnival romp of "Knock 'Em Dead", the guttural blues of "Ridin' The 666 Train To Louisiana"/Ghoul Daddy Groove, and the dark cabaret of "The Brain Eaters". Even "This Is Your God On Drugs", the most Post-Punk style track, incorporates a blusey harmonica that transforms the song. There's also a great, stripped-down cover of The Dream Academey's "Life In A Northern Town". The haunting organ and tribal druming gives the mid-80s hit an eerie makeover. The first single, "The Casket Clan" is like some kind of demented Country song with it's Banjo and distorted vocals making you feel like your at the county fair in Hell. Combine all that with the impending doom of "(Not Your) Boogeyman" and a second part to "Voodoo Devil Drums" from thier first album (this one being a campier, Halloween-style track) and you have another amazing effort from The Vigils.
