Matt: So long ago I can Just remember sitting in my room after school playing my guitar and thinking how awsome it would be to make it big one day. I know my band isnt huge and not many people know of us or even listen to our music but just the fact that I'm on tour and that we are signed to a record label makes the world so much brighter! I first started playing guitar when I was 14 which is a little late for someone to begin playing. Before guitar I was really big on sports and stuff like that. When I was a sophmore in high school I quit all sports to kinda persue music and when I did that my dad just about disowned me he was so mad. In my junior year the band started to become fairly well known localy and my dad just had it one day and yelled at me so I went and moved in with my mom who has always been very supportive of my music and once that happened I was really able to focus on the band and stuff like that. Toward the end of my sienor year the band was playing a show and some big name record producer was at the show and said he was very very impressed. After speaking with him he was able to help us produce our first EP and set us up with a tour which really started us. After the release of that EP we played I think like 2 more tours and then we started working on our first LP Doesn't Mean Its Legal, which did not do to well with sales. After the release of the album we imediently started a "headlining" tour entitled "The Doesn't Mean It's Leagal Circus Tour" with Thunder Road, The Walls, and Infinite which was cool for us because we thought we were the best thing that had ever happend to music. During the tour we seriously beleived that we had sold out every show on the tour but after when we were looking at how much money we made.. We didnt even come close. We sold out some small venues that only held like 1,000 people but none of the major venues. After that tour we decided to take it a step back and look back at our roots and why we started playing music in the first place. During that little time period we all decided as a band not to headline a tour for awhile and when people acctually want to open for us not just "Hey, will you open for us on this tour cuz you suck compaired to us." If we can get people to start asking to open for us then we will know that we've made it. The recording process was a little different on this album then on the last one. During this recording process we isolated our selves so that nothing personal would get in the way of recording. We put a little different taste on the album then what most people would expect. Before on DMIL we were more Pop then Rock so on this record we really wanted to get out of the mainstream sound that alot of people have today. The sucess of Vulture was a total shock to me. I woke up and went on the computer to see how we had charted. We are usually either charted very low or we arent charted at all. When I was looking at the botom of the list I saw we weren't on there I was like shit I guess people dont like how we sound. I thought that because "Torn Filthy Love" and "The Leaving Scene" didnt chart to well. Once I saw that we were not in the "Didnt make it" section I was like wow. I looked up and there it was number three. I was so suprised and imediantly thought, "We could be on the right track to making it."

Yeah, I remember the 'Doesn't Mean It's Legal' tour pretty well. It was the first really popular concert that I'd ever been on, so the entire thing was a bit of a mindbender. I, like the rest of Saburben Sunrise, thought we were having the best concert of all time. Looking back; not many people even payed attention to it, but it was enough. We might not have done as amazingly as thought... but we were all relatively new bands, so all of us did an incredible job of introducing ourselves to the industry. I'm so glad to have been a part of it.

OOC: You did a great job, mate, I'm looking forward to reading Nicole and Nick's part! It's very detailed, it helps make things pretty realistic.
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

Nicole: What? The band? Long story behind all of it really. I lived in Florida for pretty much the whole kid years up until my sophomore year in high school. My freshman year of high school was really ruff for me. Alot of girls called me ugly and I didn't really have any friends. I was pretty much the loser girl that you would see in the choir and in theater club and stuff like that. I remember one day when I was at school this cheerleader came up to me and told me I should just go and kill myself because no one would miss me or even care. And shortly after that I was getting hate notes in my locker. To me I didn't think I really did anything bad. I've never gotten along with girls that much so like the whole five friends I had were the theater geeks. My dad was a news anchor at this local Florida TV station that went down because of low ratings and the shit economy. So in the middle of my freshman year the station went out and my dad lost his job. In the very beginning of that summer my dad was offered a job out in southern California as a news caster. He asked me what he thought we should do and I told him straight up to please get us out of here. We moved out to California and I switched to a new school obviously. My sophomore year I thought was going to be alot better you know new girl not really having to deal with people hating on me and stuff like that. Well no one likes to talk to the new kid in high school so I was friendless and alone. In about the third week of school I was sitting by myself during lunch and this Junior(Matt) walks up to me and sits down. I was like what the hell why is this guy sitting with me? We started talking and he thought that I was a junior at first and when he finally asked and I told him I was a sophomore he had a very surprised look on his face. During that year we would always hang out during lunch and Free Period. He invited me to hang out with him and his friends during lunch and I was very skeptical of if I was going to fit in and stuff like that. So when I went over to the table they were all sitting at and it was all these skater guys(Including Nick). I went to a few of Matt and Nick's shows and I was really surprised with how talented they were for such a young band. Next is my Junior year.. This year was a little dramatic. Matt had actually asked me out in the middle of the year and I said yes so we were dating for awhile but broke up after three months because I felt like it was really damaging our relationship as friends. When I broke it off it was really hard for me because no lie that was really my first real relationship. To be honest I haven't had a boy friend since.. I know said. But any way he stopped talking to me during school and the only person from that group of guys I still talked to was Nick. Someone started a rumor that Nick and I started going out but we didn't and that pissed off Matt alot because Nick was his best friend so that caused some drama between those two and Matt actually left the band that they were in for about a month until things got settled out. It wasn't until the end of my Junior year and Matt's senior year(Nick graduated the year before) that Matt actually started talking to me again and we became close. My senior year was me alone again. Let me just sum it up that way. But in the middle of senior year my dad was killed in a drunk car accident. After that happened my mom and I were devastated. It really sucked because I did consider myself a daddy's girl because we were really close so that really destroyed me. I was asked to join the band in the beginning of August when Matt called and told me that Alex, Joe, and Joel were leaving the band and that he wanted to focus more on his guitar then singing. What was I going to say... No to my best friend? So I joined which was cool for me because that means I don't have to deal with a total dick of a boss at work! I started writing the songs for the new album almost as soon as they asked me to join. I write alot of my songs about my high school experience and the lose of my dad so if you guys noticed that in any of the songs you now know why! The success of Vulture was just unbelievable to me because we all wrote that song together as a band and it was actually the first song we recorded for the new album but we weren't sure if we wanted to put it on the album or not. And that this was only the third song people have heard my vocals on apart from the release of the album is just awesome! It shows that people are liking who we are as a band! I can seriously see us doing this until we age very old...

Nick: This band.. Well I don't know were to really start. Matt and I have been really close friends for along ass time. We grew up two houses away from each other and we went to junior high together as well. I started playing bass when I was like thirteen in a hardcore metal band under the name "Happy Death Face." Ya I know the name is weird but we were 13 and 14 at the time so it seemed cool. That was the band with our old guitarist Charlie and vocalist Dave who no one knows of because he left when Matt joined. Matt didn't join until our 8Th grade year right after we lost Dave. Matt really brought more of the Alternative/Punk side to our music instead of the Metal core sound we had. After that we got Jenny to come and join the band so once that happened we started to cover more Alternative stuff then hardcore. We played alot of shows during that time period and we didn't really take the time to go and try to record some tracks and make an EP. We were lucky enough to have a record producer come to one of our shows and give us a shot. Once we started working with the producer we began working on our first ever recording the "Lost In Your Arms EP" which we thought was the coolest thing ever. In the middle of a tour we were doing where we were the opening band Jenny and Charlie left the band to start their own project. We seriously haven't heard from them or any news on a new band since they left. Charlie claimed that we "kicked him out" but we actually asked him not to leave and Jenny just wasn't really feeling a connection with the band. I still talk to Jenny and she hasn't started on a new project yet but she told me she is trying to get a band together without Charlie because he has been a dick to her. Charlie really was the cancer in the band looking back on it. He was always telling us to go and get him shit and he really wanted to change our sound completely different from what we as a whole decided on. After they left we changed the spelling of the band from Saburben Sunrise to Suburban Sunrise. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal and we did that to show we are maturing a little bit as a band, but turns out that our fans didn't like that we changed it but were sorry its staying how it is now. When we added Joel we knew he wasn't going to be around forever but we were really grateful to have him go on tour with us and he is still even till this day a really close friend of ours. And then there is Joe and Alex. Joe was also a cancer in the band. He was trying to hard with the music and he wouldn't let it flow. He actually tried to convince me, Joel, Alex and Dylan to kick Matt out of the band and just let him sing. That's when things really got out of hand. Alex and Matt have always been like brothers so Alex got up in his face I honestly thought they were going to fight. Alex was the youngest in the band at the time. He was 17 and still in high school which made it hard on us to tour and record with his school work and stuff like that. He chose to left we didnt want him to leave because he is just a really great guy in general and so when he left and it was just Matt, Dylan, and Myself we really were not sure if we should continue our music. We just lost three of our good friends and it was just three of us. We called our old record company and told them we're done announce it next month. Throughout that little time period Matt and I had a conversation and we both noticed that this is a once in a lifetime chance. People don't just go around handing out record contracts. So what we did is we called up Dylan and he wanted to put it back on then we called Nicole and asked if she would be interested. When those to came on we called back up the company and said we changed our minds we don't want to throw it away. And I know I shouldn't be saying this but to our awesome fans we have a big announcement soon of a possible new member. We are not sure yet if he will be joining the band but we have been talking and he might come and join us. When we began work on TFL we really wanted it to be something special. We wanted people to enjoy listening to it, relate to the songs, and above all we wanted people to have a theatrical experience unlike anything they have ever heard before. When we went into the studio we told the producer what we wanted to do and we began working on it. We added in the theriactric style in the opening track Medicated Dreams which is were you hear the organ, piano, and violins playing. We didnt do anything like this on DMIL which is why we were so hyped up for our fans to hear this album and see what we did with it. The success of Vulture really was a surprise to all of us. We never expected one of our songs to hit number three on the top 20 charts. We have always been really under the radar when it came to big hits so this really showed us that people were beginning to take a look at our music which is the most amazing feeling ever. I hope that people continue to support and listen to our music....

Here is what people have to say about Suburban Sunrise

Quote:
"Suburban Sunrise and Infinite are at the polar opposite ends of the musical spectrum, but I still respect them immensely. While my band is stuck writing depressing tunes, Sunrise's songs cover a wider variety of emotion. Vulture is an angry song about drugs, Torn Filthy Love is a sad love song, and The Leaving Scene is about as classic-rock as it gets. Saburben Sunrise is one of the only true 'punk' bands on the scene nowadays. Plus, the band has some of the nicest people I've ever met. They asked Infinite to tour with them back when we were still an unknown act, and they helped organize the charitable cancer fest. I'm honestly not a huge fan of their music, since my musical taste is completely different, but it's still impossible for me not to have any more respect for them. The amount of work they put into their songs is blatantly obvious."

-Eric Quillington

Melissa(Giftstar):
When I first heard about Suburban Sunrise, GiftStar was still doing sets at local clubs in Ithaca for little to no money(not to say we aren't now) but as we've grown they have too, in a much more alarming rate. It's nice to see the Suburban Sunrise of the past compared to the new Suburban Sunrise with "Vulture" and all. I think it's a sign that you're a good band when you can grow, musically, lyrically and mentally all at the same pace.

Quote:
When I first heard these kids play I automatically knew they had something no other band did. I knew they were good but I wasn't sure how to get people to listen to their music. When you have a male front man and singer you almost get looked over because that's something that has already been done before. With Nicole she has some of the best vocal range and one of the best voices I have heard in a long time. Matt has it all. He can sing, rip on guitar, and is one of the most marketable people I have met. Nick is one of the best bassist I have ever heard. Five string bass incredible bass lines. The only thing left is to get people to notice them
