The Dressing room of the Nerve center is, as always, small and cramped. Usually, interviewing an expermental band can be tricky as most of them are 5-6 peices but thankfully not today. Seated on the worn out sofa are 3 teenage boys around 16-17 years old, all smiling and hyper with nerves from the fact they will soon be on stage in front of the sold out Nerve Center audicence for tonights Reverb Pulse event featuring 5 bands from the city. The Haunted Radio Dreams are the co-headliners on this bill and they are thankful for this. The 3 are discussing their setlist on the sofa when I burst through the door.
Nerve: SUPRISE!!
The band members jump in schok then stare at Me questionly.
Nerve: The Haunted Radio Dreams have been voted the Nerve Unsigned Band of the Month!
The band cheer and whoop, one grabs me and hugs me screaming "Thank you!"
Soon they are calmed down and seated again, then the interview begins.
N So for all our reader out here, who is who in the band.
The boy seated in the middle raises his hand, his blonde hair is spiked up and his jade eyes are twinkling with laughter
"I'm Gokaro Typoon, Bassit."
The boy on the left of him pats down his fringe which is white blonde, contrasting to the dark black of the rest of his hair.
"My Names Tré Kennedy, i'm the Drummer!"
The last boy smiles at us, his black-brown hair is spiked at the back but a smooth fringe covers his left eyebrow.
"Well, i'mm Tyler Angel, The lead singer and Guitarest."
N: So how does it feel to be Unsigned Band of the Month?
Tyler: Great, its not something that happens everyday!
Gokaro: I like the fact we won, even though were not the headliners per say.
Tré: And we've only got one EP out!
N: Oh yes your Ep, Static Barrage. How did that record come about?
G: Lots of money, hard work, and Tré bashing.
Tré: I'd hate you if that were not true.
Tyler: Laughter Well, it just was like a bunch of events y'know? It just got to the point were we went, "Hey, lets record some stuff and see what it sounds like!"
N : Were did the name of the Ep, and subsiqently, the Band come about?
Tré : Drugs.
The other two members fall about laughing
Tyler : I dunno, i just though of the name Haunted Radio Dreams and loved it. Static barrage is basically fitting in with the Radio thing.
N : So how did you's all get together?
Tyler They moved into my house.
Gokaro Thats the truth, my ma's married to Tré's da, so they ended up buying Tylers old house
Tyler and my new house is like 2 doors up
Tre Worse move ever!
Laughter
N And that was that?
Tyler Well yeah, really.
Gokaro We have crap stories really.
A stage hand enters the room and asks if the Dreams would please get ready to go on stage. They nod and get up to go. Tyler leans across and shakes my hand "Thanks for the award, please thank your readers for us too." Then the 3 boys are out the door. I follow them to the stage side to watch their preformence. Half an hour of catchy rock tunes, speed punk songs and slow cure-like ballads ring out across the venue then its done. They walk off to screams and roars, the Haunted Radio Dreams captaviavted the audience. I stop Tyler on his way to the dressing room "Excuse me" He looks back, sweat from his on stage antics (full body spasm-like shaking to mention but one) giving his skin a strange shine in the light. "Oh hey, didn't know you were still here, whats up?" He smiles and i ask him "Any spare Ep's?" He laughs loudly and nods to a boy standing nearby with a shaved head and a green miltary jacket "Ask him, he's the merc guy" He laughs then pats me on the back and walks on.
THe Haunted Radio Dreams, Unsigned band of the Month? Make that of the year i think. Buti doubt they'll stay unsigned for long with ther electic mix of Catchy rhytms, thoughful lyrics and greta on-stage presence. They only have one flaw, Their wayy too vain.
