About:
Name: Some Kind of Planet
Genre: Seattle, Washington
Years Active:2014-present
Influences: Cap'n Jazz, Saetia, The Menzingers,
Label: Unsigned

Biography:

Some Kind of Planet is a space punk five piece from Seattle Washington. The band's roots start with Noel Houston making synthpop with a friend of his and putting on shows for campus parties in college. The two eventually realized the project's potential and added Elias Rose, Levi Garza, and Jerry Pratt. The band started playing gigs at bars and music clubs. Noel's friend left the band to transfer to a college in Oregon and he Elias Rose switched to bass, Noel started playing guitar, and the band recruited Aaron Jacobs to play guitar as well. The band started recording their demo and sent it to several record labels until they were signed to Saturn Records. The band stayed in Seattle and occasionally playing shows in other cities in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. The band recorded their first EP called "Mission Control" and Saturn Records released it, making Some Kind of Planet a much bigger band. The band went on a small hiatus while Noel Houston finished college and returned in 2013 when they recorded an album called "The Destruction of Planet X" which they toured the northwest with.

The band then opened for fellow Saturn Records ΔQUA MANHΔTṪAN on a long U.S tour. Upon returning, the band finished recording their third EP "Return to Venus." Some Kind of Planet plans on touring the EP around the Western United States.

Some Kind of Planet announces 2015 tour!

UserPostedImage

In the years Some Kind of Planet has been touring, an average tour has consisted of almost every venue exploding with energy. Every show ends with someone in the band crowd surfing, breaking an instrument, or dog piling each other. Needless to say, the band enjoys doing what they do and always will so even if their music isn't your thing, at least come for they energy. Usually, the band has localities open for them instead of bringing a band with them since they're all huge advocates of local music scenes and want to get smaller bands exposure. Although they still having localities open for them on tour, they have brought two bands with them. A new side project of Noel's called Disco Squad 666 and punk band the Harlots will be hitting the road with them.

The band will be kicking off the tour with a New Years Celebration at Nuemos, going north to Canada, dropping down into Montana and North Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois, then going back up into Canada and hitting New England, then going south and hitting the Bible Belt and then going up into Utah and back into Washington to play a show in Spokane. The band will then take a break and head for Japan where they will play a show in Shibuya, Nagoya, and Matsue thus concluding the tour until further notice. It is rumored the band is booking shows in Europe but nothing is set in stone.
