After a long hiatus of only releasing a few tracks, Medina has come to deliver her new single, Tasteless Drug. The Danish pop artist wasn't seen much in the last two years, and her music showed for it. The reasoning behind her long hiatus was her situating herself in her new label, and constantly working on new music. Till recently we spotted Medina at the FCA's, where she announced to a few reporters that she was indeed planning for a huge comeback this summer. Well, the summer came, and now we have her Pulse World Tour announced and a brand new single! Medina's new single Tasteless Drug comes straight out of her second album Impulse. She mentioned that Impulse was most likely a better version of her first album. Impulse is a much better album than Paper Light. It's more balanced throughout and is structured much better, said Medina to a Swedish magazine. Impulse is expected to drop June 23rd.
Tasteless Drug tells of a girl that is drinking herself to forget about a crazy ex. Initially, the song is giving some references to the crazy exes behavior and how she is drinking to be left without a clue. We all have been through shitty relationships, so drinking to forget is indeed something we all do. The next verse mentions about how she had no clue on the situation of her relationship until she had a drink. The pre-chorus then comes and mentions on how much she would have to drink to continue to cope with the relationship. She refers the relationship like playing dice, unexpected with a few outcomes. Before the chorus comes in, we do see some self-realization. She mentions that her drinking/fighting wouldn't solve much. The chorus is repetitive with a catchy tune and repeats the same three words. The next verse then mentions what she will do to forget, which is drinking. She then goes on and says that her drinking makes her feel less attached to the past the relationship, riding herself off of scars that were on her skin. The last lines mention the type of liquor she drinks, which is gin.
