Critical reception to “Sweet Seventeen” has been overwhelmingly positive with many critics praising the young star for his vocal delivery as well as taking note of the indie vibe with the funk undertones. Eric Clapman wrote in his review. “This young man has been making waves on social media platforms by turning well known hits into funky indie anthems and as his first offering that is 100% him, gotta say I am liking this, it’s catchy, funky and I know see why he won the critics choice for “one to watch” because I certainly will be watching out for him more.” Emma Crane wrote in her review. “Okay this is a cute little song about that first time you make love, for a guy his age he has also done it very tastefully which is rare in this day and age, it’s got a funky, indie rock edge and I love that, for his first single I would say he chose perfectly.” Esmae Adams wrote in her review. “An indie-rocker with a funky twist was how he was described and now I can see why, not only is this song catchy and so relatable his also a cutie on the eyes, solid start from this young man.” Dennis Carter wrote in his review. “Relatable check, funky, check just the right amount of rockiness check, plus I can see it now girls of all ages are gonna be swooning over this guy, this is a fantastic debut offering, I am looking forward to seeing what else this young man is capable of.” Alice Martin wrote in her review. “Having been a fan of his covers on sites like TikTok over this past year and how he changed up well-known hits into funky was excited when he said he was releasing his own music, I was not disappointed, this was the perfect debut, it’s fresh and youthful with a topic lyrically that is super relatable to boys and girls that are around his age, I am so excited to hear more from him.”

Cem wrote:
”Merhaba, Selam, hello Cem here and today is not only my 18th birthday but also the release of my first single, I never expected to gain such fanfare when I started posting indie-pop/rock covers on TikTok earlier this year…and now here we are releasing my first single that is 100% mine, written by me about something that literally happened back in July, when me and my girlfriend at the time went there I was a virgin had no clue what I was doing, she had before so of course I was nervous as hell, so I wrote this song about the experience and though me and her aren’t together anymore she is just a responsible for this song coming to life just as much as me, I hope you guys like it this is my debut single “Sweet Seventeen” zevk almak, enjoy!

SWEET SEVENTEEN

It was the end of July
She was ready to ride
I was so afraid
I could not sleep that night
We snuck in and she locked the door
She knew just what I was there for
And she said "Come here, do you love me?"
And I said "Yes I do and you know I always will"

I was seventeen
So green
I lost it to my first girlfriend
I remember where it all began
It was the best night I ever had

Her name was Juliet
We met in history class
It was all over from there
She was so beautiful
I couldn't believe
That a girl like that would be with me
And she said "Come here, do you love me?"
And I said "Yes I do and you know I always will"

I was seventeen
So green
I lost it to my first girlfriend
I remember where it all began
It was the best night I ever had

I told her that I never had
She said "Don't worry you'll be just fine"
I held her so close
I just can't believe it
I know she was an angel
That God sent to me
It was the best night I ever had

I was seventeen
So green
I lost it to my first girlfriend
I remember where it all began
It was the best night I ever had

She said "Do you love me?"
I said "Yes I do and you know I always will"
I said "Do you love me?"
She said "Yes I do and you know I always will"
