Hey guys, I know this most likely will go down in flames, but worth a shot, eh? I was thinking of making an awards show that cmbined the traditional award show theme with a Battle Of The Bands, so bands nominated would rp for whatever award they where up for, if rp-ing is necessary (for example, it would be pretty damn hard to do it for Best Drummer). Any band would be allowed to enter, but NO SOLO ARTISTS (Sorry Steph :(), and then anyone could cast voted for the first round, but only selected, who are kept secret vote on the winner of the award. Advice on any improvements would be great, I can take constructive criticism.

Best Band (One of Three other Best Band Winners)
Best Newcomer
Best Rock Band
Best Punk Band
Best Metal Band
Icon Award
Best Single (One of 3 Best Single Category Winners)
Best Album (One of 3 Best Album Category Winners)
Best Punk Single
Best Punk Album
Best Rock Single
Best Rock Album
Best Metal Single
Best Metal Album
Best Live Band
Best Tour/Fest.

Sing-up for as many as you want, PM me if you want to judge in the second round, and I'll let everyone know when public voting opens.

Not keen on the "No Solo Artists" rule, and not entirely sure how you're going to integrate awards & battle .... but I like the basic idea.

Well for us that can play we could record ourselves and post that, or we could just go into great detail on what the play, how they play it, and their style...I dun know...

Example Why I think is a bad idea:

Stephanie for Best Drummer
Why?
Man she puts that stick to work, just look at her face. She hits it faster than no other would and in top of that she has really good rhythm, with no mistakes made whatsoever.

To me the category is not deep enough to be a category for roleplay purposes. Unless you record yourself drumming. It will eventually become blah!


But the other categories are great, no hate whatsoever for this award show.

I kind of like the "Best [insert name of instrument here]" idea - it gives room for specific band members to be recognised. (That used to be in the early IMAs, but was scrapped, probably due to similar reasons as listed here.) Most bands here are made up of vocals/guitar/bass/drums or similar, so it makes sense.

Yes, that was what I was thinking too. Also, I was thinking that for albums, songs and Best Live Band, you would rp it, and the judges would vote on their favorite rp, so its less of a straight up popularity contest. And I'll compile a list of nominees for each category and then let the public vote all at once. Raphy, I was wondering if you wanted to also receive the votes over pm, so I can enter my bands without there being suspicion. Lastly, I would say you can enter other bands with their consent.
