Thanks for the Memories - Greatest Hits

UserPostedImage

Thanks for the Memories - Greatest Hits is the first greatest hits compilation album from American rock band PANIC!. The album was released on December 22, 2009 and contains most of the songs they have released as singles throughout their career thus far, as well as several bonus tracks. The first single "The Captain Goes Down With The Ship", which was first released as a 30-second leaked demo on online in early 2009, under the name as "What a Catch, Miss Perry", will be released as a single on December 28, 2009.

A DVD of most of the band's music videos was also released with the album. The DVD also features commentary from the members of the band on each video. The only official videos by Fall Out Boy not included in this DVD are the music videos of "Turn It Off (When Praying Doesn't Always Help)" and "The Captain Goes Down With The Ship".

A music video for "The Captain Goes Down With The Ship" will be released on the 31st of December.

Message From The Band

Quote:
It was the BEST of times. It was the worst of times. Hard to believe its been seven years, six members, five Birdies, four albums, three world tours, two relationships, one dog, hundreds of shows, thousands of miles, millions of record sales, billions of illegal downloads. Damn.

This album feels like our high school graduation yearbook. Kinda makes us wanna write something cliche like, "don't ever change" or "have a great summer" here.

For those of you there from the beginning at the Knitting Factory to those of you who just saw us for the first time on the Casting Thin Shadows tour - the best is yet to come.

Long live the Scars & Stories,
2005-Undefined

Ashley, Ryan, Gabriel, Josh, Nick and Joey

"Thanks! We really appreciate it. It's kinda hard for us to release this, since it is the last material we will be releasing before our break/hiatus for hopefully, just all 2010."

(OOC: Lol, hey I can't always be so creative. Plus I needed something to end off this run for PANIC! until I decide whenever to bring them back.

Music video

The band shot the video for the song on December 3, 2009 with Alan Ferguson. On December 4, guitarist Ryan Ross Hernandez stated via Twitter that they had finished shooting the video, editing will take place in the next couple days, and the video will be released on MTV on December 31st.

The video also includes Ryan Ross Hernandez' touring drummer Spencer Walker, and Breaking Dawn at Sunset's bassist Patrick Lewis.

Ashley Perry said in a press statement: - "It is my time to say that we haven't done a video like this before, a video dedicated to our fans. The whole band isn't performing, just one member is (and no it's neither Ryan or me). It's like half performing, half party, half acting, it's gonna be a huge cliffhanger for our fans. We shoot in the only place in the country where is isn't cold, Miami, Florida."

A fifteen-second teaser was posted on December 22, on the band's website, featuring the band (except for Hernandez) sitting around on a table talking, sharing stories and laughing amongst themselves. As the camera pans out it shows the band is on a boat, revealing Ryan Ross Hernandez leaning on the rail of the boat tossing pictures into the sea.

Message From The Band:

Quote:
Honestly, we don't think we could have asked for a better Christmas gift than what you diehards gave us. We have had number records before but this one has a special feeling for us since it's the last official release from us before our break and leaving at the top is a great feeling. It shows us that whenever we decide to come back, you guys will still support us. This adds some pressure for us when we do make a new record but for now we are riding high on this. We'll never get tired of saying that we have the best fans in the world

see you all soon
