On the heels of her latest album release, the start of a world tour, and controversy over comments made regarding Stephanie Fierce's death, Madison O'Leary agreed to sit down with Spice Magazine for an interview.
Hey Madison, how is life at the moment?
Life is... great, to say the least. I still wake up everyday feeling like “Wow.. how did I get here?” It’s been a long journey, but it’s been a very fun one. Since we just finished the album, I go to rehearsals just about everyday. And I love all of it.
You must be on top of the world right now, two singles from your new album Ecstasy went to #1 and you're classed as one of the biggest pop acts in the world right now, how does that feel?
It feels amazing. My last two albums went #1, and I’ve had five #1 singles. Although I still don’t feel like “the biggest pop act”, I’m grateful to my fans who’ve been there every step of the way. I don’t always shoot for #1, but when it happens, it feels so good.
You also have a new album out, tell us more about that.
Yes I do. Ecstasy is available now worldwide, and it’s one of my favourite album to date. It’s much, much more sexual than any other album of mine. I feel that women should celebrate their bodies and desires, and that’s what this album embodies. It’s my sex drive packaged into a pretty little disc. At first I had some resistance from my label, but after I explained to them the meaning of the album, they let me have my way. The covers to the singles are racy, but I shouldn’t have to censor myself. I really hope it does well, I’ve spent so much time on it.
How is life on tour with Sexy Star?
It’s so great! Sexy is hilarious, and definitely is a true friend. I love doing every show, and I’m glad I contacted him about touring together.
What is your goal in your career?
You know, I really don’t have a goal. I want to please my fans, and to be happy. I love what I do, and I don’t see an end in sight.
What's on your rider? Are you a bit of a diva or do you just ask for the basics?
I’m kind of a diva. I ask for my dressing room to be all white. White couches, white paint, white carpet, white lights. And I always ask for lavender lilies. That’s about it.
Who is a music inspiration to you?
I don’t really have an inspiration. I’m inspired by myself and things around me.
Do you hate anyone in the industry?
Can you tell us about what happened recently over comments you made regarding Stephanie Fierce’s death?
No comment. All I can say is that things were blown out of proportion.
What’s next for Madison O’Leary?
I haven’t figured that out yet. Obviously another album is coming, but I can’t say when. I’ve been writing a lot though. I have some ideas that aren’t albums, however. The tour ends May 20th, so we’ll see what I’m up to then.
Do you have any romantic interests?
Not at the moment. I’ve honestly got more important things to worry about than who I’m sleeping with.
