THIS WEEKS STAR OF THE WEEK GOES TO....

...............................

...............................

.................................

"BOOK OF LOVE"

UserPostedImage

Obviously, these two hopefuls hailing from Ithaca, New York came with a direct statement after singing their rendition of Teenage Riot by Sonic Youth. Although "Queen" Alexis wasn't moved by the band, head honcho Malory Evans found their performance to stand out the most among the others. They receive star of the week as well as a solid spot in the next "All Around The World Challenge"

Malory: All the performers were absolutely amazing tonight but in the end, Book of Love, stood out this week the most because of their originality even when singing their own rendition of a popular song! I was quite surprised to see Laura Paige work the drums and the vocals. This band came with something to offer and they definitely take this weeks Star Of The Week.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOOK OF LOVE!

"Will this band continue to keep winning Star Of The Week?"

" Will they reign supreme once more, or never again?"

[+4 in creativity]

[OOC: Congratulations "DistortedAudio" you worked your group to Star Of The week which is an award thats given after each deadline and result post to the person who gave the best scenario work or RP. You really gave me what I asked for and more and really gripped me with your work here, you did a great job of following what I wanted for this]

DistortedAudio's RP/Scenario Work

DistortedAudio wrote:
Outside of the large convention center thousands have gathered and a camera focuses on one man looking out onto the streets of downtown Boston.

"Boston is kinda different from Ithaca, y'know." The man says as a small title card bearing the ALL AROUND THE WORLD logo appears. His name "Peter Hampshire" appears beside the small logo. The camera switches over to a woman standing beside him as the name on the card changes to that of "Lea Martinez".

"You're excited to be here right?" Lea cheerfully asks the man.

"Oh definitely but it's all a little overwhelming. The lights, the people and all the talking. This is more Laura's scene."
speaks the quiet man. He nods as the scene quickly shifts into that of the interior of a building. Inside performers raise up peace signs and cheer as Lea stands near another woman with a titlecard forming once again. "Laura Paige" reads the woman's name.

"You're a couple of seconds away from going up, any idea what you're gonna do." Lea asks Laura who replies with a smirk.

"Play our music and have fun doing it. That's been the plan for the whole event." Laura replies.

The scene cuts once again to the performance room where three judges sit in front of a small stage. One large titlecard forms revealing all their names. "Sean Hope" under a grinning Caucasian man, an African American woman who clearly looks uninterested at the event has the name "Alexis Smith" form near her and finally to the right of her is a man who looks pretty darn interested for today's performances, "John Thomas".

Peter sets plugs his guitar in his amp and begins to tune it as Laura sits down and picks up her sticks before adjusting her microphone.

"You guys are?" Alexis asks with noticeable venom in her voice.

"We're Book of Love." Peter says briefly speaking in the microphone before finishing his tuning. "and we're also ready to start."

"What song will you be playing?" John queries the duo.

"Alright, this is Teenage Riot by Sonic Youth." Peter says before he begins the opening notes of the song. He then begins to sing in almost a whisper.

You're it
No, you're it
Hey, you're really it
You're it
No I mean it, you're it

Say it
Don't spray it
Spirit desire
Spirit desire
Spirit desire
We will fall

Miss me
Don't dismiss me

Spirit desire

Spirit desire Spirit desire Spirit desire
We will fall
Spirit desire
We will fall
Spirit desire Spirit desire Spirit desire
We will fall
Spirit desire
We will fall

The tempo of the music changes as Peter backs away from his mic. The tempo shifts into a faster one as Laura leans closer to her Mic.

Everybody's talking 'bout the stormy weather
And what's a man do to but work out whether it's true?
Looking for a man with a focus and a temper
Who can open up a map and see between one and two

Time to get it
Before you let it
Get to you

Here he comes now
Stick to your guns
And let him through

Everybody's coming from the winter vacation
Taking in the sun in a exaltation to you
You come running in on platform shoes
With Marshall stacks
To at least just give us a clue
Ah, here it comes
I know it's someone I knew

Teenage riot in a public station
Gonna fight and tear it up in a hypernation for you

Now I see it
I think I'll leave it out of the way
Now I come near you
And it's not clear why you fade away

Looking for a ride to your secret location
Where the kids are setting up a free-speed nation, for you
Got a foghorn and a drum and a hammer that's rockin'
And a cord and a pedal and a lock, that'll do me for now

It better work out
I hope it works out my way
'Cause it's getting kind of quiet in my city's head
Takes a teen age riot to get me out of bed right now

You better look it
We're gonna shake it
Up to him

He acts the hero
We paint a zero
On his hand

We know it's down
We know it's bound too loose
Everybody's sound is round it
Everybody wants to be proud to choose
So who's to take the blame for the stormy weather
You're never gonna stop all the teenage leather and booze

It's time to go round
A one man showdown
Teach us how to fail

We're off the streets now
And back on the road
On the riot trail

The song ends as everyone except for Alexis claps.

"What inspired the choice?" Sean asks the two.

"We've always been big fans of Sonic Youth and we thought, what better song to play than "Teenage Riot"." Laura answers quickly.

"I'm gonna be blunt here..." Alexis begins, "Laura's singing and drumming were on point but I didn't think Pete did a good job when it came to the intro. Not to mention he missed a few notes. I'm really unsure about what to say here other than lose the zero and become the hero here Laura."

Peter frowns and shakes his head at the statements made while Laura also drops her. "Lose as a team." She whispers to herself.

"I thought it was quite good actually, sure it needed work but what amateur doesn't?" John chimes in.

"I'm actually broken when it comes to you, there are parts I liked and parts I didn't. Laura obviously isn't Thurston Moore and Peter isn't Kim Gordon. Maybe this was the wrong song...I'm gonna leave this for the callbacks. We'll think about it." Peter drops his guitar and walks off the stage as Laura gets up and leaves as well.

(end)

NEXT PERSON ONTO THE NEXT ROUND WILL BE POSTED AT ANY TIME OF THIS DAY ! STAY TUNED!

SARA DANIELS!

"This pop-rock hopeful impressed Malory as well as John Thomas, and Sean Hope (not so much Queen Alexis Smith) with her rendition of Kerli's alternative-rock anthem, Love is Dead."

Malory: I was sure that Sara was going to move onto the next round. She may not be 100% but she came close behind Book of Love. She has alot of potential to be dangerous in this competition, she seems versatile explaining to us that she can sing and rock out.

The Golden Strikes

"This Golden Strikes - an acoustic rock band from Trenton, New Jersey certainly weren't the best band of the night but on the plus side weren't the worst, they however did try hard delivering their cover of Runaway by Linkin Park "

Malory: I do like The Golden Strikes but they did choose the wrong song to perform an acoustic version of. Runaway by Linkin park sounds much better with the sound behind it. I was impressed that they were an acoustic band so they would be able to offer something to the music industry if they were to win the competition.

Miles In Minutes

Miles In Minutes may not have even performed to their full potential, maybe they were nervous? But the judges as well as Malory saw hunger in their eyes and figured, this show is all about progress and growth, Miles In Minutes may need sometime to grow, hopefully it will be in a quick time, or they may have to accept elimination"

Malory: I was very skeptical about this band, while I like the structure of the band and they are fairly young and fresh, they just seemed a bit bland and their performance wasn't what I was expected. I could however see hunger in their eyes and figured they could turn that hunger into something special, so I figured they deserve to stay here another round and the judges do agree. Hopefully they can shape up and bring something stronger to the table.

DANIEL JAMES LAW!

"This aspiring singer JUST made it onto the next round of All Around The World after Malory and the other judges deliberatred for hours on who should stay, and who should go. If It wasn't for Sean Hope's great point being made about growth and Daniel's stage presence, his chances of staying would be even slimmer. We can look on the bright side though, Daniel is still in the running!"

Malory: When I first saw Daniel he caught my attention, he is a very clean cut and handsome young man that would fit the profile of a pop star. I was however disappointed in his song choice, he clearly was not ready to sing a Michael Jackson song, even though he tried to make a statement choosing such a hard song to sing [Earth Song- Michael Jackson]. I cannot lie, he did do a good job with his delivery but it was not there. When you choose a song like that sung by a music icon, the stakes are high, and he did not live up to them. I figured it was a first mistake and we all make them and I believe in Daniel's potential. Hopefully he can scratch this messing up, up and start over new for the next round. Our eyes are on him now, lets see if he can clear himself.

[-1 Look]

CONGRATS DANIEL!!!

--------------------------------------------

ELIMINATED

"I want to say thank you to Haylea Carpenter and Sonic Candy for making their way to the stage. This does not mean they should stop their careers, they should continue to strive for what they love, weather it be in music or not.

UserPostedImage
Malory: Haylea wasn't ready for this competition, she was clearly nervous and her pitch was completely off. She struggled completely through the song she chose, and we couldn't keep her around.

UserPostedImage
Malory: Sonic Candy was a very good band to be, but they under performed as opposed to the others who made it. They need to work on their stage presence. They were very bland and didn't look like they were on stage together before.
