[This thread is an article in the magazine Alternative Press featuring new metal acts that are rapidly gaining in popularity; the first will be of my band, "Destruction, O' Yeah!". Feel free to make a post for your metal band.]Destruction, O' Yeah! This band is a debut feature in Alternative Press. They recently released their first EP under a local independent label but have been catching the curious eyes of several recording mavens in the expanding metal industry. From the sound of the EP, which is titled 'Enslaved By Choice', Destruction, O' Yeah! proves that they are not only experienced and ready to take the scene by storm but also very young, full of energy, potential, and most important, musical variety. They have, strangely but effectively incorporated the brutality and proficiency of technical death metal acts with the chaotic time-signatures and insanity of mathcore and include a very jazzy, funk, dance groove in almost all of their songs. The old-school hardcore scream-a-longs never hurt either! If you like any of these things, you should certainly check out Destruction, O' Yeah!.
'Enslaved By Choice EP' - produced under a local New Orleans independent label, TooScroozLoose Records
"Ballroom of Entombment" - 5:06
"Electromagnetic Hemorrhaging" - 4:11
"Whiskey Makes Things Go Boom" - 1:39
"Married and Buried" - 4:57
"Enslaved By Choice" - 9:12Kyle Rivers, 22, out of New Orleans is the lead vocalist. He is the former bassist of post-hardcore act The Daniella Conspiracy and vocalist of deathcore act Massaquerade.
Kenneth Cambridge, 21, out of Metarie, LA plays rythym guitar and adds high shrieking growl and high-end clean vocals to the arsenal of D,O'Y!
Tim West, 24, from Gulfport, MS slams the bass guitar and adds deeper, clean vocals. He has played in several jazz bands as well as experimenting with funk and blues artists.
Jonathan Slaughter, 23, from Memphis, TN shreds brilliantly down the entire fretboard with chaos, intensity, speed, power, yet precision and technicality as if he's been doing it for decades.
Dusty Cross, 22, fills the rhythm section with furiosity and an unconventional groove for any death metal drummer that we can think of!
They have been touring extensively throughout the southern region from Tennessee and Georgia to western Texas. However, with their growing popularity via the internet and social networking, not to mention the growing light in the eyes of popular independent labels, it shouldn't be long before Destruction, O' Yeah! is seen all over the nation. We sure hope so; Good luck Guys!

AP: "We have Kyle, Kenneth, and Dusty of the emerging metal act Destruction, O' Yeah! here with us today. I must say, it's a pleasure. Welcome to Alternative Press guys."Kenneth: "Thanks!"AP: "So the fans must know, where does the crazy band name come from?"Kyle: "...I guess it was my idea. First of all, I've really always thought punctuation in a band name was just awesome. Destruction is kind of how I personally sum up our sound but "'O' Yeah!"' just makes it fun."AP: "Interesting.. how about your first gig?"Kenneth: "Oh God, not this question.."
Dusty: "Our first gig didn't go so good. We had only been together for a week and we got paid to play at a birthday party. It was the typical 'Oh, you have a band? You should come play!' After we started into our first song, an entire family of wide-eyes ran inside of the house. We turned it into a jam session anyways and just kept playing. Eventually the kids came back out and had a blast."
Kyle: -laughing- "Oh yeah, I think the screaming didn't go over well with the old, strict, Protestant choir crowd but after the kid's eardrums stopped bleeding so profusely, they enjoyed it."AP: "Sounds like a pretty great experience. So what are your guys aspiratioons?"Kyle: "To make music until the day I die."
Dusty: "As long as our music can budge it's way into people's ears, I wanna play."
Kenneth: "Pretty much the same, or at least until the zombie apocalypse.."
Kyle: -laughing- "That pretty much sums it up."AP: "Great, I'm pretty sure I speak for the rest of the world when I say we can't wait to hear what you're capable of. Any new bands out there that you guys are listening to?"Kyle: "I think we are pretty much all really diggin' Titan. Those are some sick musicians. And of course Fear. I want to play a show with them so badly."
Dusty: "I'd have to add Quarantine to the mix as well."
Kenneth: "Pieces of Pisces."AP: "Well, thanks for the quick interview guys, hope to see you out on a bigger tour soon and we can't wait to hear a full release from you guys!"Kenneth: "No, it was our pleasure!"
Kyle: "Stay vicious in the pit, kids."Edited by user 06 September 2010 23:48:14(UTC)
