CHIMERA HAVE ANSWERED THE CALLS OF THE FANS AFTER THURSDAYS RUMOR ABOUT A NEW DRUMMER The band confirm new lineup to be true Chimera have spoken with us about the internet rumor that caught the attention of fans and press. The rumor was put up on an unknown Tumblr account last sunday after the band confirmed they would be returning, and by wednesday was posted on numerous social networking sites, it caught the attention of the music press last thursday and the rumor stated that the new Chimera drummer was supposedly former drummer for 'The 69 Sinz' (who parted back in July) James Hollway, however chimera were not available to question about the matter, and would not answer any emails today, Dan Severge [vocals] confirmed through the bands myspace and official site (and all their pages such as twitter, facebook) aswell as his personal tumblr account that the rumor was indeed true. 'We got a glimps of this rumor when it was first released, the person who posted it followed me on tumblr and the name was cool so I checked them out, them I saw it, but we wanted to see how people would react to such a know person from such a known band, and we were going to stop it before it got the attention of the press, but clearley, people have been doing their research on google to who the new drummer as, and of course, this came up as a search result, the rumor got worlwide and out of hand before we could control it.
In the month where we went silent, James gave us a visit after the last 69 Sinz tour was over, he said that he'd probably be starting a new band, and he's one of the most talented drummers we knew, and he told us he was also taking a few months off before trying anything new. so we took a few weeks thinking hard about him being the one to fill Lukes postion, it seemed to make the most sense instead of looking for any old person that could do what we wanted, and Luke was great friends with James, so in August we asked him if he wanted to try out, and it was only this week we confirmed him, so yes, the band will be returning, with James Hollway behind the kit, but the fact still stand we're not going to be doing anything major such as gigs until December at the very, very earliest.
To whoever started the rumor, it must of been someone from the studio who practices there, we've met a few fans there in the past, so it must of been someone how knew who we were as we've latley been practicing late in the night to avoid any attention, unfortunatley that's the time where the evening slots end, so we try to get out of the way, otherwise we practice in the middle of the day where people are in work/school/college etc, but it's good to finally say that we are returning, as Chimera, with this new drummer, a great friend of ours who I'm sure, Luke would of been happy to see take his place.
Obviously Luke is a person who can never truley be replaced, but in time we've got to somewhat let go, and this is part of the process, thanks to all the fans who've stuck by us in this time, I gaurentee you will not be dissapointed with the new material we have so far, our new album will be coming in 2011, plans are still far from confirmed but we hope to hit the studio at the start of next year or maybe the end of this one, the album is only half done after all, and we don't want to repeat a comeback like picking up old pieces.
You'll also see how our sound is maturing, it's not so predictable anymore, you'll be surprised, if you enjoyed This Concept, you'll probably die of happiness with the new songs we have, more information soon.
Apart from that, it's good to be back, we'll keep you all updated now everythings out, and we'll see you very soon.' left to right; Dan Severge, Oli Williams, James Hollway, Jake Syspace, Ben UmerEdited by user 27 September 2010 04:23:22(UTC)
