THE SATURN REVIEW Jack Frost Struggles To Remain Relevant 25 year old musician, Jack Frost, has been through one hell of a musical ride. In the last five years he has released 6 albums and 10 singles. In a creative surge driven by drug addiction Frost released two double albums in his earlier years. A feat only a mad man could do. But in recent days, the once folk artist, dubbed the Folk King by the critics, has suffered a major set back in his seemingly rushed career.
The release of his 5th album, All My Engines, seems to be the first headstone of his seemingly dying career. The album released a couple of months ago has only reached 1,380k+ in album sales despite it reaching #8 in the USA. But the reason that WE here at Saturn Review believe the cause of his fall from grace is because of his tremendous and outrages situation with drugs and alcohol. At first it seemed that his sitatuation was just one of those minor drug problems but it soon turned into a deadly fight for his life when he O.D at the Rockstar Hotel & Casino. This pretty much dug him in an early grave.
Listen, I mean Frost makes good music. His newest release, 6th studio album entitled Trouble In The Heartland, is a good album. You just have to find the good songs! It opens with two powerful songs, Diamonds & Dust and Brother War. Two songs that are ALL Jack Frost in his hayday. But the album just gets old with some country tunes like Farmer Dirt Vs The Town and Ghost Wind. Frost declared that this album was a personal album that he wanted to get off his chest. Frost stated, "This album is a folk/country vibe that has more layers then I have done before. I mean at first you can hear Farmer Dirt and think it's about some poor old dirt farmer but it's really about me during my addiction, and how I had to deal with the news and critics."
Hot of the break up with Cristina Lake & the sad departure of good friend Max Armstrong, Frost has decided to set his focus on touring. Hopefully rebuilding his fan base one gig at a time. But this might not be enough for this once folk. musical prodigy |
