The name of Moronic Changeling's thirteenth album has been announced as 'Fairweather! Forever!' "The name is a reference to how we change members so often," says bassist Somerset Bissell. "We've had God knows how many band members, but Kaethe, Nick, Jimmy and I always manage to stick together." "Thur's also Lukey yarr, 'im'll prolly be gone by the next album," drummer Nick Biggs points out. Guitarist and backing vocalist Lukey Comatose laughs. "Yup. I'll go start a solo career, fail miserably, and then die so that I get a memorial concert." "Naw, ye can leave like Kelley Amorrre, now tha' were originawl. 'er's gone to work with snow people. Kinda like Joshy did to F47, but cooler. Literally. Yarr." "He's a good man, is Mr. Comatose, ja?" says Kaethe Jenkins, lead vocals. "We try to keep him in!"

"I 'ate this fuckin' Crayola cover," Nick groans, "it were Kaethe's idea." "You hate ALL Kaethe's ideas, Nick," puts in Somerset. Nick nods her head. "Anyway. So, Jimmy [Bishop, manager and pianist] suggested that we do something 'brighter' with our music, going back to the 'Faith' [MC's 7th album] era. And then Kaethe said that it should be songs about trees and rainbows and stuff, because it makes people happy. And then she came up with this." "The only fing good 'bout it be the back coverrr," says Nick. (On some editions of the album, thanks to Nick and Kamikaze Kate conspiring, it says 'Kaethe Jenkins Sucks You Off For 50p In A Phone Box In Bedminster' in the corner. This has been removed on most but not all copies. If you find one with this, keep it clean, it'll probably be worth a bundle.)

Track-by-track info by Jimmy Bishop - Fairweather! Forever! (I Can Roll My Tongue) "Each band member has a 'showcase' song, where we focus on one band member's ability. Most of them are near the end, but we're starting with Kaethe's. And she can roll her tongue, as well as do many other amazing things with it .... singing, I mean. We start off a cappella, then it goes into a punchy dance track that makes it hard to keep still." Lattes & Limousines "This will probably be the second single. It's very classic Serenade Records era Moronic Changeling. This is about the rich bitches and fat cats in the music industry - of which I am one, ha ha. When you get to the top, is life all about lattes and limousines, or is there more to it than that - and how long can you stay at the top before you come crashing down?" It's Starting To Look Like A Triple Rainbow! "We were watching something on YouTube, and then we started jamming, that 'Double Rainbow' thing still fresh in our minds. Underproduced, full of laughter, but we love it." Passion Of The Christ, Part 1 : Molotov Cocktail "The 'Passion Of The Christ' series are some of the best things we've got. Folky stuff with a Firecracker 47 style edge. 'Molotov Cocktail' is the first, and it's about saving someone from suicide at the risk of your own life."
"This is the lead single, as said before, it'll be out on the 31st. It's a rock song, real rock. The kind that makes you think of dudes rockin' long hair - well, we have girls rockin' short hair. It's a driving song, Top Gear music. This is one of the two songs led by Lukey and one of the three with me singing, about a devilish treat of a woman." Sugar Rush [Raven Comatose & Stephanie Fierce cover] "We wanted to do something Ravenesque, in dedication to her, and this Comatose/Fierce delight fits right in. With Kaethe playing the role of Stephanie and Lukey playing the role of Raven, they sing about what a big rush getting on stage and singing gives you." Passion Of The Christ, Part 2 : Ménage À Trois "This is the second part of the Passion trilogy, and the second track with me singing. It's a complex and confusing piece, about a woman with two lovers, and three kids - it's weird. This has a mad amount of key changes, I think Nick was trying to be in the wrong key here, but somehow, it works." It Hurts "This was born from the instrumental outro from 'Ménage À Trois', which was WAY too long - until Kaethe and Lukey started singing some really daft ad lib vocals over the top. The lyrical content is creepy, but the mood is very upbeat, which makes it all the creepier." Coming Back To You "Remember I said about showcase songs mostly near the end? This is Summie's. It's the longest song on the album, but we're likely to make a cut-down one for the third single. There are some epic bass solos. It's a relaxing indie song about Summie leaving and coming back. She went into hiding because she thought she was going to die, but came back." Tree Porn "Typical Kettlechip doings. It's like K.I.C.K.A.R.S.E.'s 'Mashed Potato', but shorter and about trees." Passion Of The Christ, Part 3 : Conspiracy Theory "The third part of the trilogy, and the best. This one is about knowing the past, with recollections of the first and second parts, but not knowing the future - you can make up all the conspiracy theories you want, it'll always probably turn out to be something you never even dreamed of." Fairweather Friends [Nick cover, ft. Kamikaze Kate & Machete] "Anyone remember Nick's solo albums in 2006? Well, she released two, and this was her first solo single. Prepare for ear-bleeding metal, key changes you can't keep up with, and a couple of nomad Madbirds added to the group. This is Nick's showcase track, and it's really what she does best - METAWWWL in a pirate accent. Yarr!" Untouchable [ft. Kamikaze Kate] "This is my own showcase track, and to streamline it to the end, we kept KamiKate on. Plus, she's got that 'little rebel' voice that this track needs. This is about that serial killer stuff, 'The Purger' who thinks that he's so 'untouchable'. As it's my showcase, there's a lot of fingerplay from the pianist, haha, and it's not bad work, if I do say so myself." One Lost Cell "However, it's not as good as Lukey's showcase here. Saving the best for last, this is something Lukey wrote about older brother Jakey's disappearance. This is sombre, deadpan guitar folk, heavy in metaphors, very much like Jakey Comatose's own work. It's heartbreaking but heartwarming at the same time. A perfect finish."
Release date - "The album will be released on our joint birthday," says Kaethe. "I'm a year older than Summie, who is a year older than Nickola, ja? It's a milestone for Summie too. Do you know how old we will be on 2nd November 2010?" "Don't remind me," says Summie. "But anyway, 2nd November, 'Fairweather! Forever!' by Moronic Changeling, 13th album, make sure you buy it!" "And be surrre to be at The Dirty Barsteward tha' night!" adds Nick. "We'awl be partyin' our arses off! YARR!"Edited by user 26 October 2010 05:46:26(UTC)
