Ladies and gentleman, I give you... HOT TIN ROOF.
Why the name? Nobody knows. It just sounded pretty cool. Blending blues with dirty rock n' roll and progressive tendencies, Hot Tin Roof are one to keep an eye on. Perhaps you're wondering what ZZ Top might sound like if they covered RUSH songs and were fronted by Glenn Hughes on vocals and guitar? If so, Hot Tin Roof are the answer to that question. Not to be missed...!
Lineup:
Justin Haze - Lead vocals, guitar
Dan West - Guitar, backing vox
Rod Street - Bass, backing vox
Zack Jury - Keys, backing vox
Reb Cross - Drums, pads
It all started when Justin Haze bumped into Dan West on a street corner in Brisbane. Dan, playing a battered old Strat and busking for his life. Justin, supposedly minding his own business... "I don't know what happened, I just sorta, tripped over him, y'know? I was having a bit of a crap time. Been off work. Had a beer (or two)." muses Justin. Dusting himself off, the two got chatting "He just said he used to sing in this blues band" remembers Dan, "I knew we were gonna get along just great. I wasn't working, just playing to earn a dollar or two to stay in the cheapest crap shack I could find every night". Dan, the notorious busker, had many connections with local musicians who had heard him playing "I never really thought about actually wanting to be in a band, I mean this street corner was always pretty comfy for me, got all the exposure I ever wanted and I didn't have to worry about Joe Bloggs and whatever he may have wanted me to do musically. It was just me and my guitar" muses Dan upon reflection "but that all changed when I met Justin, and he sang, we sorta got a little thing going one day, y'know? Later on I called up Roddy and said 'dude, I got this singer, he's fuckin' ace... wanna be in our band?'"
And so the story goes, thus Hot Tin Roof were born. They're currently lurking away somewhere in a basement in Brisbane, writing songs for their debut LP. Their first EP, titled "Sticks and Stones" is out soon [release date: TBA].

Synopsis:
Tear the World Apart
Justin: "This song emerged from our first jam as a band. I just don't know what I can say about it really, everyone who's heard it says it fuckin' rocks, I don't wanna sound too self-centred but I'm just proud of it and I think it's definitely one for the album as well. Reb just kicks the shit out of the drums, he put on such a good show, I think he was just relieved to be part of something new, something big, and Dan really plays his arse off on this one too!"
Sticks and Stones
Reb: "I'm kinda responsible for this. It was just a cool combo of words really, weren't it? Sticks and stones... Justin really goes all-out on this one. I love to listen to it. The raw power of the lyrics is the best thing about it, they're just so memorable!"
Trashcan [instrumental]
Dan: "We just played the shit outta our stuff, really. Simple as."
Distraction
Justin: "Really wanted to stick something a bit more laid back in there, and Distraction is just that, it's kinda something that burns out a bit, gives the illusion that we've run out of energy. We wrote it like a really shit song on purpose. Just because we can, y'know?"
Whippin' Up a Storm
Rod: "Just about the best EP closer you'll ever hear. I'm not going to give anything away... leaving it at that."
