Many people know Matt Urie as the guitarist/backing vocalist for the young band Suburban Sunrise. Or you've never heard of him before in your life and your thinking "Fuck this guy I don't give a fuck who the hell he is." But for those of you who think he is just a spoiled little brat we are here to show you how life is for him at home and to talk with him about life, love, and how being on the road has changed him. My name is Will Ion and im going to be moving in with Matt Urie and the rest of the Suburban Sunrise band for a week to see how there life works. So today we are heading down to the nice warm beaches of San Diego to meet Matt at his beach house which he rents with fellow band members Nick Johnson and Nicole Woods.

DAY 1 of 5
As I rang the door bell and Matt answered the door I expected to see a full time party and dirty house. Instead I saw a nice clean house and only Nick sitting on the couch watching TV and waiting for breakfast.

Matt: Hey are you the guy?
Will: Ya im Will
Matt: I'm Matt nice to meet you man

After we introduced ourselves and shook hands he welcomed me to come inside

Nick: Is this the guy that is going to be staying with us?
Matt: Ya man. Will this is Nick. Nick this is Will.

Nick and I shook hands and as I take a seat on the couch its one of those moments when you can just cut the awkward tension with a knife.

Will: So what were you guys doing before I showed up?
Nick: Well I actually just woke up. Matt's always up at like 8 but I was just sitting here watching TV and waiting for Matt to hurry up and make damn breakfast
Will: Where did Matt go?
Nick: Um probably up stairs to get Nicole. Here, come with me Ill show you where you will be staying so you can put all your shit down.

Nick and I both got up and began to walk up stairs.

Nick: Matt where the fuck are you man?
Matt: In my room man. I broke my lamp.
Nick: Are you bleeding?
Matt: Ya I cut my foot
Nick: Yes! Thank god

Nick showed me to my room and as I looked out the window and I had a perfect view of the ocean and could see all the boats and surfers. As I looked out the window I started to see why people would think that the guys in Suburban Sunrise are just a bunch of spoiled kids. I honestly began to think the same thing. The three of them aren't even 25 yet and are living the glory life and have absolutely no care in the world. They live on the beach, make music, and get to sleep in as late as they want and get to go on month long road trips with their best friends. Now all I needed to do was see if those rumors are true or if there is more to these three then meets the eye.

Matt: Hey Will come on down I have breakfast.
Will: Um where's Nicole at?
Matt: She is still sleeping. She will usually sleep in for awhile but as soon as she smells the food she'll be down here.

Almost as soon as he said that I heard a door open up stairs. About 5 minutes later I saw a 5'2 girl that looks like she does not want to be awake come down the stairs

Nicole: Matt who the hell is this guy
Matt: This is that guy Will I told about that is going to be staying with us this week.
Nicole: O hey man im Nicole. Sorry if im in a bitchy mood I'm just tiered.
Will: I'm Will don't worry about it

After meeting Nicole for the first time I could kinda see where people would begin to get the whole spoiled rich kid look on the three. It was about 5 at night and I still haven't had any time to talk to Matt. As the day went on I started to feel more like an outsider then a friend of them

Nick: Matt! Nicole and I are going downtown to hang out for a couple hours we'll be back later
Matt: Alright man later

After they left Matt asked me if I wanted to go chill at the beach. We went down to the beach right below his house.

Will: So Matt how did you get to this point in your life?
Matt: What do you mean?
Will: San Diego beach house. Like the extravagant house right on the beach with the great view
Matt: This was actually the house I grew up in. I lived here until I was about 10 then my parents got a divorce and I moved in with my mom.
Will: What happened to your dad?
Matt: He disowned me. After they spit up they had 50/50 custody over my little brother, sister, and I and I ended up quiting baseball which was like his passion to pursue my music and be able to focus on my band. After I quit he had it with my and told me to get out of the house and get the fuck out of his life. So I left moved in with my mom and was able to focus on my band.
Will: How were you able to get the house back then?
Matt: My dad moved out of the house about a year after he and my mom split. Once SS finally was able to get on the "board" and we actually got some money in I saw that the house had a for sale sign on it. I talked to the owner and they wanted alot of money for it. I mean ALOT of money. I was able to talk with the owner and we agreed on letting me rent the house but I still pretty much didnt have enough money. I was able to talk Nick and Nicole into renting it with me and then we all just moved in together.
Will: Is it weird having to live with people that you pretty much all ready spend your whole life with?
Matt: Yes and no. Its more hard then weird for me. There are sometimes I just really really want to be able to bring a girl home and be able to have a nice dinner and watch a movie with her by ourselves but you never really get that privacy when there is always someone right there next to you. Its good because im never alone and im always with my best friends forever.

We talked for about 3 more ours just about living in San Diego until about 10 pm

Matt: I'm getting pretty tiered man I think im going to hit the sack
Will: Same here man Ill talk to you tomorrow

As Matt and I went into our rooms I could tell that Matt has alot on his mind and really doesn't have much privacy and time to himself



OOC: Just something new I thought I would try like a "World Of Jenks" type show or something ya know. Just let me know what you guys think ;)
