R&B newcomer Trell recently sat down with us. Here talked about rapper Rel's being jailed, his creative process, and he the future.

I’ve heard good things about your mixtape, but I gotta tell you I haven’t heard it for myself yet.
The mixtape has been very well recieved by the fans. I'm glad that my hard work is finally paying off.

The name of your album is “The New King Of R&B” just describe the why it’s called that because that's an bold statement from an young artist.
I felt that it was an void in the R&B game. Nobody is really holding it down from the men. At first, I was considered the "Prince Of R&B". Rel told me though I'm going to be the "King". So I just ran with it and intend on being just that.

You’ve been getting a buzz with some singles off your mixtape. Is this going to be a long-running series?
I don't know who long its going to be. Really, that depends on the fans. If they keep wanting more then I will continue to give it to them.

Did you do some writing on Rel’s album?
I wrote the track "She Know,She Bad". Orignally, the song was mine but Rel had came to one of my sessions and hear it. So he wrote two verse and I an verse & also sung the hook. The record became so crazy in Atlanta that Rel just apporached me and said he needed the track on his album. So he paid me for the song and that was that. Other than that song I didn't do any writing on his album

Do you write all of your songs?
Yeah. Im an songwriter at heart. I love writing music.

How many songs are on for your album?
It will be between 12-14 track. I've already recorded 20 something songs and this is just the early stages of recording.

What’s on plate right now?
I'm just working. I'm in the studio now working on my debut album. Oh yeah. I'm currently looking for an deal.

Are you signed to YRMG?
Yup but I want to obtain an venture deal between an major label and YRMG. Me and Rel already talked about it. He thinks it will be best.

How’s the mood around YRMG now that Rel is incarcerated.
It seems just so unreal but at the same time everyone has buckled down. We're more focus than ever. We have to be because the center peice of our operation is gone. So we all have to work extra hard.

Another YRMG artist that’s been making noise recently is Monte Carlos. Why do you think fans are finally embracing him?
My cousin Monte Carlos? Yeah. He's gaining newfound fame seems like everthing is falling in place. He's putting out quality music and its connects with the fans.

How important is it to be involved in the larger R&B conversation?
Very. I want to be considered in that catergory. Ya know..the best. I want my name to come up when you think of the best R&B singers. Thats why I work so hard because I want it.

Let's wrap this up, tell us about your upcoming projects coming up?
Well. I'm working an album and a couple mixtapes. The mixtapes will be out soon. I plan on touring. So I have an lot.

Thanks for your time Trell, we appreciate you giving us the chance to interview you. Everybody at Roling Stone would like to wish you the best of luck in the future man

Thanks. I appreciate that alot man.

Occ:Name change (From L'Jai to now Trell)
