ALIENS MUSIC VIDEO Development:
The video was filmed on November 8, 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona and directed by Jonas Akerlund. The shooting took place in a cooperating neighborhood near the mountains of phoenix, Arizona. The community was open minded about the concept and granted Daniel permission to shoot in one of the homes. The kitchen scene was shot inside a studio.
Random bit:
The character Daniel plays was actually having a dream about Aliens before he awakes. (The ones with the green heads).
Sypnosis:
The video is about 5 Minutes long, and extra sound effects are used for a vivid feel. Daniel plays a 29 year old Mexican male, who has altered his image to fit in. He is obsessed with fruit.
The video begins with the view of a nice house in a private rich neighborhood. The shot is bright and has saturated colors (you‘ll notice the baby blue house, pink-yellowish sky and the green grass). The scene cuts to Daniel sleeping on his bed. The shot is done in a “bird’s eye view“. He opens his eyelids and the music begins. He stands up and slides across to the floor to his dresser. Through the window you see mountains and beautiful landscape. Daniel is seen in his underwear, flaunting his “package“. Daniel dresses himself up very preppy, and his hair dyed blonde. Smiling all throughout, Daniel seems very robotic. He checks himself in the bathroom mirror after brushing and does a smooth dance, moving like an inexperienced dancer.
Finally he goes to the kitchen and takes out a blender along with some fruit; particularly a banana. Two tall Mexican men magically appear from behind him as if they weren’t already there. He takes out a knife and begins cutting the banana and the rest of the fruit. The two men clap, then smile carelessly playing their cuatros (guitars). That instrumentation however is kept silent. The sound of knife hitting against the counter (done in a fast pace) is put over the music. Daniel throws in the pieces of banana into the blender along with the other fruit and hits the blend button. A disco ball drops and the whole room is filled with club lights. The cheesy effect is purposely put, to reflect the lyrics and the composition of the song.
The next shot, is a mid low-horizontal shot from the outside of the home. After finishing the smoothies, he along with the other Mexicans place a table in the middle of the road. The neighbors seem annoyed and scared as they look through their windows. Daniel along with the other Mexicans cheerly hand out cups of smoothie to the children that pass by.
The shot zooms out as the music is ending, and four cop cars are seen in the distance going after the two Mexican guys, yet ignoring Daniel as if he was not part of the act. The scene fades out. The music video ends.
