“We want to create something totally different from what we’ve ever done before. I mean, we’re never gonna be able to create another Price to Pay, but we’re going to try and impress our fans out there with this. I know a lot of them will be reluctant since the passing of Scott and they will only think we’re trying to milk some more money, but we’re not. We are making this for you. The tentative title of the album is Mortem Regis, which of course, is Latin for The Dead King. A couple of titles for the album are The Leveller and Deicidal Maniac. When we go on tour with Mind and Infinite, we might show you a couple of them. We’re not gonna give too much away at this point, but we can say that we’re going to be going in a more “djent-y” direction. If you haven’t heard of djent, it’s a brilliant type of metal music, innovated by bands such as Meshuggah and Textures. Check it out.

Anyway, back on topic, the album will be produced by our friend Jason Smith, also known as the lead singer of Mind. The band’s been friends with him for a quite a while now and we would love to have the chance of him producing this record. I’m sure that this record will benefit from this immensely. Also, we’re looking at busting the symphonies out on a couple of the more “epic” tracks. Basically, the album will contrast from straight forward, heavy-as-fuck death metal and the epic, slow, still heavy-as-fuck symphonic metal compositions.

We began the writing process as soon as I was initiated into the band and I think that first session turned out to be one of the most constructive. We came out with some really strong songs which gave us a new sense of hope. As I’ve said before, trying to keep up with the level of Scott will be pretty hard, but I’m gonna give it my best shot.
