You got to admire Rel's perseverance. Not too many people would be candid enough to talk about their issues with the the police the same day armed federal agents showed up at their home expecting to find narcotics. They were disappointed to find nothing.
Today, the YRMG rapper not only released a statement, but he went into the studio to record a song about his predicament. .
The track "I Love U" is a mellow, mid-tempo ballad with a subtle drum undercurrent. In the song, he doesn't make any excuses for his inpending jail time, but instead focuses on what he has learned from the ordeal..
"Everything the FEDS done took is like it never went anywhere," he rapped, and begins to explain how the hard reality has forced him to work even harder..
"They kicked my door in/So now I gotta I kicked yo door in/This money. Take it man you can have it/I make it, I gets more than the average," he rhymed in another lyric..
He even said he does not want people to feel sorry for him..
"Hey shawty keep all the sympathy/ I'm a grown man don't worry bout me" he rapped..
He views his situation as an opportunity for a new beginning. "I'm feeling like Drake when he signed to Young Money," he added..
Last Tuesday, DEA representatives showed up to his home in Atlanta. Rel claims that computers, recording equipment, jewelry, were stolen and destroyed at his house by the police "This is a huge wake up call for all entertainers to stay out of trouble. They are just waiting for us to slip up" he said in a statement released Tuesday..
Six hours after the incident, Rel recorded two songs, including "I Love U."
