The following press release has been issued by Bee's Knees Industries:
Bee's Knees Industries is proud to announce that Thick Chewy Crust's cover version of "Burn" (originally performed by The Cure) has been added to the Bee's Knees webstore and mail-order catalog. The track was recorded for Other Voices: A Tribute To The Cure which is being issued via Bee's Knees' L.A.-based sister label Armistice Recordings and features a wide array of artists from across the musical spectrum. Thick Chewy Crust's interpretation of "Burn" retains the dark, brooding tension of the original though it is otherwise unrecognizable save for the lyrics. "Burn" sees the band delving into the world of spoken-word ambience for the first time in their career. "Burn" can be purchased as a digital download for just $0.83 at http://www.beesknees.com/store.

"Burn" is also being issued as a 7-inch vinyl single, backed with previously unreleased versions of two Thick Chewy Crust songs: an entirely acoustic version of "Ode To The Haberdashers & Rapscallions" (the original version appeared on TCC's debut album The Non-Linear Broadcast) and a remix of the non-album single "Bin Laden Beard". The acoustic version of "Ode" is highlighted by the ethereal, dream pop vocal styling of Suenaga Birch and bristling, frenetic acoustic guitar work of Bobby Cairo. The remixed version of "Bin Laden Beard" comes courtesy of acclaimed Swedish electronic duo Lesbian Army.

"Burn" single track listing:
1. "Burn" (The Cure cover)
2. "Ode To The Haberdashers & Rapscallions" (acoustic version)
3. "Bin Laden Beard" (Zombies Walk Among Us remix by Lesbian Army)

Weeks prior to this announcement Bobby Cairo posted the following blog on Thick Chewy Crust's official website:
"It's official: Sue and I are covering The Cure! Our friend Demetrius Rockwilder who owns Armistice Recordings out in Los Angeles is putting together a Cure tribute album and has invited us to participate. We agreed but only after we insisted upon covering "Burn" which is a song from The Crow soundtrack. I love that entire soundtrack except for the Pantera track, which I found to be entirely disruptive to the proceedings. "Burn" is not the most famous Cure song but we believe it to be one of their finest. It evokes images of lust, passion and the willingness to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles in order to satiate a yearning desire to ravage one's lover. We don't plan on doing this as a straight up cover. That's boring and it would totally go against everything that we believe in. We're going to remake "Burn" in our own image while paying homage to the mood, atmosphere and spirit of the original."

In other Thick Chewy Crust related news the band's critically acclaimed debut album The Non-Linear Broadcast recently crossed the two million sales mark worldwide, making it the best selling release in the brief history of Bee's Knees Industries.

"The Non-Linear Broadcast" track listing:
1. Insidious Breed
2. Snooki Wanna Cookie?
3. Deconstructing The Obama Throne
4. Insert Angry, White, Anti-Immigrant Rant Here
5. Negation Of Productive & Enlightened Thought
6. Heavy Riffing Machine
7. Ode To The Haberdashers & Rapscallions
8. Joss Stone's Toes Look Like Skittles (And I Will Taste The Rainbow)
9. Nihilists Are Lovers Too
10. Thicker Than Soup (And You Can Have It On A Rope)

Sounds like: +

Bobby: That's one of the reasons why "Burn" stands out to me because it's a little less "emo" I guess you could say than The Cure's usual fare. I agree with you about "10:15 Saturday Night". That's a great tune from their debut album Three Imaginary Boys, which could also be considered their best album depending upon one's musical preferences. We were tempted to cover "Fire In Cairo" which is also from that first album because it's a great song and it would have served as a sort of double entendre with my surname being Cairo and all, but we felt that might prove self-serving and gratuitous. Ultimately we're happy with the choice that we made. Some music critics have accused of us committing "blasphemy" or alternately "butchering a classic" but these are the same critics that praise every new U2 and Coldplay album as if it's the Second Coming, so their opinions don't mean shit to me.
