It had been a fun night last night at The Failboat And Flugelhorn in Melbourne. Sophie-at-the-bar, Rosie Brassesco's landlady, was a bit - OK, a lot mad, but she always made people laugh with her conspiracy theories. She had particularly liked heckling Bri, claiming that she was 'another Kathryn, this'll be as easy as Justine for her'. Bri's style was a lot more delicate than Kathryn's used to be - much more like Rosie's own. Rosie was always precise, to the point, careful; she used to be a tattoo artist, and you have to be careful in that job, otherwise you'll screw up someone's skin. Kathryn made mistakes, broke strings, and broke fingers - then put the sounds into the songs, and made it something unique and brilliant. Nobody could be quite the same as Kathryn Meadows - but they hadn't hired the girls to replace Kathryn. They wanted them to put their own stamp on 'Black Lotus', plus hopefully jam at some new songs, try out some different styles of music.
It had been the ultimate girls' night out. Eight very different women, nine counting Sophie, just talking and drinking and dancing and having a good time. But now, it was time to get to work. Rosie was of course there earliest. She couldn't imagine getting out of bed any later than 6am, even in the holidays. Also, she liked to be there early, to have a little time to herself - try out a riff she'd been working on, mess around with the amps, or just sit there in peace with a piece of paper to write down new ideas. Rosie and Roxy shared lyric-writing duties, so she often used this time to write down new words.
While tuning up her bass, she was thinking about how this would work, or not. Radio Vine she didn't know much about. She'd liked her song 'Color Me' - especially, as when it was released, she was still colouring people in for a living! - and liked her zany attitude to life, but wondered if she was a one-trick pony. Yasmine Storme, hmm. Genetics mattered (Rosie was the only current member of TMB without a musician sibling), and Yasmine's father and sisters were extremely talented. Would she be like the four Firecracker siblings who were musicians, or the one who was known as 'the dud'? Kelly K was another one with a musician sibling, but more one to step on the toes of than actual genes - and that or not, Rosie loved Kelly's enthusiasm and interest in The Mind Bandits. She thought that she was just the right person for the job. Bri Kildare? Experience and talent, and tons of it - she would find Kathryn's lines easier than anyone else would - though the possibility of stirring up drama was there. Her husband was safely over the other side of the country, but her sister-in-law would be in the studio.
Whatever might happen, Rosie hoped that it would be good vibes. She strummed a few notes while waiting for the next person to arrive.((OOC : This is the studio RP for bikz, Famouss7x7 and Moquel, though anyone is welcome to pop in .... add what you want. Doesn't have to be much.)) Edited by user 18 December 2010 09:32:37(UTC)
