Hey guys. If you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted an update in recent weeks. Don’t worry though; I’m just putting the final touches to Still Waters! Right now, I’m just finishing off the climax, the masterpiece of the album Blood Cold Motion Sequence. Even though it’s a prog rock song at heart, it has something for everyone. In fact, you can pretty much say that for the entire album. The single Frown Upon will be released soon.

After this, there are many projects I was planning on beginning. Obviously, we have the musical (with some guests in preparation...), plus many other ideas I have stored away. I might do a poll or some shit like that. I do think that I’ll have to release an EP or something before I start doing all this grandiose shit. I already have a couple of songs not on Still Waters that I’m happy with. Especially Bribe for the Ferryman, that’s one of the best riff’s I’ve ever come up with.

Because I love you lot so much, I’m attaching the info of another song, one of the heaviest on the album. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Soaked to the Bone (Heavy Metal/ Art Rock) (4:37)

Jason initiates the song with a slow, moody acoustic guitar riff, reminiscent of classical renaissance music. Quietly, a basic drum pattern and bassline are introduced to go alongside it. The first verse of the song is then sung in a sombre and low tone, and is barely comprehensible as it is mumbled. After that initial verse, a few seconds of a guitar solo over lush ambient noises happens before the song erupts into a much heavier riff that is exactly the same as the acoustic one, except played on majorly distorted guitars. It sounds like a mixture of grunge, Black Sabbath and Shoegaze, except more big, pompous and epic. It is one of the few genuinely heavy metal riffs on the whole album. Another verse then commences, except the vocals are sung hugely in an operatic style with slight screams in the background at the end of each line. This formula is repeated for the next verse. However, it then goes into the bridge/ solo. Once the last verse has been sung, it then changes speed form very slow in a polyrhythmic clusterfuck of guitars and drumming. It does this only for a few seconds, before going back to its original speed in a totally new riff, a bluesy one, complete with a solo to match. The solo is one of the longest on the album, and goes on for about a whole minute and a half. The last part of the song is just chanted over and over again in a mixture of what appears to be nursery rhyme and Gregorian monk style. The song ends by the last part fading out into fast-paced beautiful arpeggios which then are crowded by ambient noises until you can’t hear them. It fades into the next piece.

Look into the eyes of our dying sun,
We all sleep under the light,
Keep tossing and turning,
Good night, good night...

You heave and you puff,
You pant in your endeavour,
The water washes away,
The heart of this cadaver.

The clue is in the serum,
In the cure for mankind,
The pain is as soft as needles.
Sickened of these fuckers...

Dropping the bodies in the water,
Discard your love in the water,
Dropping your body like a martyr,
We are disciples of the water.
Dropping the bodies in the water,
Discard your love in the water,
Dropping your body like a martyr,
We are disciples of the water.
Dropping the bodies in the water,
Discard your love in the water,
Dropping your body like a martyr,
We are disciples of the water.

Stephanie Fierce: This is the kind of production I love to see from musicians. I'm really also liking you as a solo artist Jason Smith. I'm glad its going really well for you. I'm a fucking fan.

OOC: Nice job with the lyrics and the description. Never will forget that monstrous track by track description of yours by the way lol

Jason: Hell yes! Thank you so much Steph... it's things like that which keep me going.

OOC: Thanks! I'm planning on doing another track by track, but I'm just trying to think of ways to spice it up a little.
