Frontman for Those Meddling Kids issued a statement today on his blog:

"Through the money we've made collectively on record sales alone I've decided to purchase Flying Boxcar Records from its owner, a close friend of mine, who wanted to retire from the business. So I'm proud to announce that I am the new owner of the company and plan to do more with it. I want to make it a record company that still takes bands and artists that are unique or have a progressive sound that can't really be defined by one genre. Call us an alternative or indie label as an umbrella term for the masses I guess. I couldn't be more excited about buying the label and are already in talks about signing our first band. I hope to keep this label going for a long time coming. Also being on your own label means more freedom from control by the bigger companies and producers. We want to bring that aspect with the artists we sign as well. We'll be willing to help produce in the studio if need be and are willing to be very hands on with the groups under our label. But we will step back and let them create on their own if that's how they want to run things. Overall, I couldn't be more excited about this endeavor and hope to do big things with it!"

Though there is a band talking with Johnny and TMK about signing on to the label there has still be now word on who the new artist is or their musical background. But stay tuned for more breaking news from the band as it develops!

Ronny: Sounds great guys. It's good to see labels with so different attitudes for the industry. It leaves something for everybody.
