Out of various parts of New York, New York, a new group with an old sound has emerged. Taking influences from groups like De La Soul, Digital Underground, The Firm, and most importantly the Wu-Tang Clan, The Collective comprises of six members with various styles. Delivering lyrics of free-associative (seemingly random) yet adept lyrics, the group has gained underground acclaim and hopes to become larger. Here are it's members:

2-iLL aka Illy tha Kidd (de facto leader):
UserPostedImage
Age:23
Style: 2-iLL's is probably the most lyrically gifted of the group as well as the most versatile. His lyrics can be delivered at a rapid yet even pace, a slow smooth style, or a mid paced very aggressive style. His lyrics are more complex using compound rhymes and several syllables in each line causing his verses to seem elongated. He's featured in every song they make.

Influences: Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, 2pac, Eminem

Lyric: " My style is unauthorized, desensitized/not a single nigga could make sense of why, I spit my rhymes/ constantly, I spit my rhymes astonishing and haunting these/ niggas who figure that should be bigger but barely can be called an MC"

Dex aka Tha Professor,Rolo (2-ILL's older brother):
UserPostedImage
Age:26
Style: Dex's style is definitely the most mature. His lyrics are usually somehow slip in hints of social commentary or obscure metaphors. His flow is more complex than the rest of the group as well and the way he raps seems almost analytical (hence his nickname). He is usually a favorite among fans for his style and slightly nerdy look. He's also very intelligent and due to his extensive vocabulary which seems "almost on file" according to his brother, his other nickname is Rolo as in Rolodex. He is also on virtually every song made by The Collective.

Influences:Immortal Technique, GZA, RZA, Chuck D

Lyric: "Never thought success would be my outcome, word to Malcom, used to fuck around with powder I'm not talking talcum/ Pops said I'd be a stupid-ass negro, I believed but mama had a different plan fo' me though. I woulda been on the corner from 9 to 5, recognize that I don't fantasize, that's right I'm not tellin lies, shit like this what's makes mom cry"

Jay-C aka Tha Captain (Ill's best friend)
UserPostedImage
Age: 23
Style: James Cook (hence the nickname) aka Jay-C is the largest member of the group weight-wise. His husky and deep voice mixed with his slow rumbling flow match up to this. His rapping is called "turtle style" by iLL as he plods along slowly and steadily over the beat. His rhymes consist of his favorite things, weed, women, and just having a good time.He is on most songs, usually being in the first verse.

Influences:Raekwon, The Notorious B.I.G, Curren$y, 2pac

Lyric: "I've been the captain ever since I started rappin'. Puttin shit down as infant in my diaper crappin'/Haha, the bitches love me sippin on bubbly, smokin' this bubble-g (bubble gum kush) sn-double o-p/no one can put it down like me I'm the master tortoise, I stay on my feet, other niggas depend on porsches/ wondering what forces, made me how I am but just know, no one puts it down like El cap-ee-tan"

Bo aka Naps
UserPostedImage
Age: 19

Style: The youngest member of the group (called Naps for his crazy hair) is identified by his noticeably higher voice. His flow is erratic and usually fast and slightly catchy due to his funny sounding voice. His raps are the most random of the group seeming to come out of nowhere, however his lyrics are still held in high regard. He usually enjoys rapping shocking lyrics and gives of the idea that he is insane which he gets a kick out of. He is also known for his stage presence which shows him running all over the stage and dancing, basically having fun. He is only on a few songs as he is new however his verses usually stand out, showing his potential.

Influences: Ol' Dirty Bastard, Bizzy Bone, Lil Wayne (he's made fun of for this), Early Eminem

Lyric: "Hello, it's me again! I can contend until the end of this/ 12 twelve round, title bout. See me in the streets and the people shout/ because no one puts it down like N-A-P to the S, you know for 9 months your daughter has a really nice chest/ IM THE BEST, slighty crazy, 3 pounds of weed got my mind all hazy! AH! *gibberish*"

El Rey aka Da Don
UserPostedImage
Age: 21

Style: Rey's lyrics usually talk about the ghetto, gang banging, things like that. He however is very lyrically gifted and almost as versatile as 2-iLL. He is the only non-black member of the group (he is el-salvadorian) but still says the word "nigga" frequently. His lyrics are delivered with a high intensity almost yelling usually however he is capable of other flows. Due to high high ranking gang status he is known as "Da Don" as a former member of MS-13.
He's usually only on the more hardcore songs.

Influences: Nas, AZ, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killa

Lyric: "The eyes of a nigga got bigger, as I pulled the trigger/ slug to the brain makes him closer to god. Used to thing it's cool to gangbang but nigga it's not/ Bullet in the chest, nothings ever felt that hot/ Hot metal coming out of a cold steel chamber, take another life to get rid o' my anger/ 21 now, my life's already in danger, sinned so many times now I'm just waiting for my savior"

Mars aka Rasta (Bo's brother older brother)
UserPostedImage
Age:24

Style: Mars met Ill in high school after moving with his family to new york from Jamaica. His style is defined by his low, accented, voice as well as his rhythmic flow. His lyrics are versatile though still usually delivered in a Jamaican style. He is featured on about as many songs as his brother.

Influences: Bob Marley, Damian Marley, 2Pac, Krayzie Bone

Lyric: "As me let di riddim in, hittin me like ritalin/ neva tot a rasta would eva do a nigga in/ peace is love yah but me full of da anger, stay away from rasta if you no wanna be endangered/A rude boy yah but me nice to da ladies, di critics and da cynics man not one of dem can phase me. No nigga eva tame me, jes I am di mon/ I grab my pen and paper and take rips from di bong/ so was goin' on, let's get stupid drunk, you kickin it wit rasta mon I am di bomb!"

The group plans to release their next online mixtape very soon and are going to be interviewed by datpiff dot com (hip hop website). They also have issued a challenge to any other rapper to try to battle any member of the group (except bikz because that just got ugly lol), as according to Dex; "Hip hop right now is dead in the mainstream as far I we can see, I beg any one of these fake niggas to try to step up. I BEG them".

OOC:Comment please, took me a while to make

OOC: I felt like I reached the end of the road with The Nimrods. I might make some sort of progressive black metal band later along the road but I felt like with a rock/metal band I went as far as I could. With rap rping I can make rhymes and each person has their own style and things like that, I find it funner.

Today during an interview, 2iLL and partner in crime Jay-C of the collective expressed their distaste in rapper Rel and his affiliates. According to 2iLL
"I'm not tryin' to hate on a man making his money but Rel can't spit for shit. It's rappers like him who delay the positive progression of hip hop, his shit is the same stuff over and over again." Jay-C expressed his hatred of rapper Doc
"He's horrible, I heard his freestyle recently, horrible shit. His rhymes are tired as hell and I could freestyle better than him in my sleep. Hell most dudes I know can."

They offered a challenge to Rel, The Doc, and any of their affiliates to try and rap against them, posting their lyrics. 2iLL, Jay-C, and Bo of the collective have all displayed extraordinary skills in freestyling and have done battles all over New York.

OOC:Bump like shit lol

We've been gone for a while but for those who care we've got new shit coming soon! Jay-C and I are working on a mixtape which will come out on April 20th which is yet to be titled and we'll be posting songs from it very soon so look out! Also our youngest member Bo comes out with his first mixtape called "Fools Day" on April 4th. We'd also say that if any of these young pussy rappers like Doc want to battle we're still up for it and ready to go. 'Till then

2-iLL: We accept the challenge and the promotion, Bo's leaking a few tracks of his tape today since it's April Fool's day but we still need a cover and whatnot.

Jay-C:Hell we'll even let you pick who you wanna battle.

Part of a track-by-track of my new mixtape Fool's Day has been made. Check it out! I think it's kinda unique and it's really inspired by like Ol Dirty Bastard and other influences but mainly him. If you like heavy but kinda catchy and almost scary hip hop you gotta check dis shit out
