Out of various parts of New York, New York, a new group with an old sound has emerged. Taking influences from groups like De La Soul, Digital Underground, The Firm, and most importantly the Wu-Tang Clan, The Collective comprises of six members with various styles. Delivering lyrics of free-associative (seemingly random) yet adept lyrics, the group has gained underground acclaim and hopes to become larger. Here are it's members:
2-iLL aka Illy tha Kidd (de facto leader):

Style: 2-iLL's is probably the most lyrically gifted of the group as well as the most versatile. His lyrics can be delivered at a rapid yet even pace, a slow smooth style, or a mid paced very aggressive style. His lyrics are more complex using compound rhymes and several syllables in each line causing his verses to seem elongated. He's featured in every song they make.
Influences: Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, 2pac, Eminem
Lyric: " My style is unauthorized, desensitized/not a single nigga could make sense of why, I spit my rhymes/ constantly, I spit my rhymes astonishing and haunting these/ niggas who figure that should be bigger but barely can be called an MC"
Dex aka Tha Professor,Rolo (2-ILL's older brother):

Age:26
Style: Dex's style is definitely the most mature. His lyrics are usually somehow slip in hints of social commentary or obscure metaphors. His flow is more complex than the rest of the group as well and the way he raps seems almost analytical (hence his nickname). He is usually a favorite among fans for his style and slightly nerdy look. He's also very intelligent and due to his extensive vocabulary which seems "almost on file" according to his brother, his other nickname is Rolo as in Rolodex. He is also on virtually every song made by The Collective.

Style: The youngest member of the group (called Naps for his crazy hair) is identified by his noticeably higher voice. His flow is erratic and usually fast and slightly catchy due to his funny sounding voice. His raps are the most random of the group seeming to come out of nowhere, however his lyrics are still held in high regard. He usually enjoys rapping shocking lyrics and gives of the idea that he is insane which he gets a kick out of. He is also known for his stage presence which shows him running all over the stage and dancing, basically having fun. He is only on a few songs as he is new however his verses usually stand out, showing his potential.
