What do you think about them? Some metal fans say they aren't metal. Some say they too rock or rap for metal and vise versa.I personally consider them a good band, not anymore but Slipknot and Iowa were angrier than most of the shit coming out at the time. The biggest album during the Iowa days was Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory the best selling Nu Metal album of all time selling 15 million copies.I think out of any Nu Metal band Slipknot is the most "Metal" or was, now they aren't.However I don't know how this isn't metal.

Blastbeats,aggressive vocals,aggressive riffs,aggressive bass,and the most simplistic chorus in history.It just straight heavy.Sure they have a sample,keyboardist,and 3 drummers,but they're heavier than most Metalcore shit.

I really don't see how most people don't like them. I've always liked them since their self-titled album. Now their new album there is maybe like 3 or 4 songs off of it I will go back to listen to but I still think they are a pretty good band.

I was a big fan once, although I grew out of them shortly after Iowa. I recently ripped those two albums out of curiosity, and I must say I find the self-titled quite enjoyable still. I even still remember that whole "Saved, you're such a slave" part in Liberate off by heart. Iowa doesn't do much for me, although the title track is still unbelievably awesome.

I've been a loyal maggot for about 6-7 years now. It started with Duality and took off from there. I don't really get how people cannot consider them metal. If they aren't metal than what are they? They're too extreme to be rock or rap.
I have never considered Slipknot nu-metal with the exception of their first album. I think of them as alternative metal.

ONly parts of the first album were really even nu metal but imo it's the heaviest album they have.

Well that's clearly dependant on your definition of heavy, because by all common standards, Iowa is much much much heavier.

Well I think in certain parts self titled is but I guess overall Iowa would be the heaviest,I thought it was a good improvement too, they weren't bad but they got even better.

I happen to Love slipknot for several reasons

Corey Taylors Lyrical Talent is simple amazing hes lyrics go so in depth its quite amazing..the vocabulary this man has.

I love the percussion not only is it unique but they pull it off so well

all of these men are very talented and most have been in several diffrent bands or are still in some.

people might complain there not heavy enough orn ot metal enough..and some complain that there going softer or there not what they use to be

but the fact remains slipknot alters there music not for profit or for anyone else but themselfs sure they make lots of money..but just because you make lots of money doenst make you a sellout they stick to orginal thoughts and ideas and are constantly trying to find new creative ways to write there music and the fact that they are very loyal to there fans and they do what bands are meant to do they go and they entertain there fans and they never dissapoint every time you go to a slipknot show its a experience like no other any maggot thats been to one would agree with me i personnaly have been a fan of them since i first heard there self entitled album and every album sence because every album brings its own sence of creativity and uniqueness.

this person is most definitely a maggot

I actually happen to agree with you here. He has a monthly column in the magazine Rocksound, which I usually get, and it's always a good read. It's not like all the other stuff you read in the majority of music magazines that still come out now, it's in depth.

As far as their music goes, I completely despise them - but there's no surprise there really :P

Going with what Elliot said, I respect Corey Taylor moreso as a person for the fact he actually has a free and thinking mind more than most others.

Other than that, as I've said before, I don't care much for the band.

Man, I remember my friends buying their selftitled CD when it came out. I thought it was shite. But then again, I still think they're shite.

When I first heared Slipknot, I thought, "Yah know? They're okay. Not something I would just turn on just to hear."

Now, I'm a fucking Maggot. I love 'em, my fav band, in fact. \m/ ^___^ \m/

I don't know if less heavy is the term I want to use, but they have definitely gotten more uniform over the spread of their albums. The mate feed kill repeat, (Before they were slipknot) and selftitled albums really had some chaotic beats going, mathcore, with some really interesting jazz stuff smashed in. But the more recent albums seem to be mellowing out, getting more like stonesour. I used to listen to them, but I've moved on I think, nothing wrong with them though.

You should probably like his acoustic solo album he has coming out in the semi-near future then, just a heads up.
