The website has launched!!!! WHOOPEE!!!!! The following description has been compiled from wire reports, and various facts are disputed by various individuals-

The Band
Genres-Alternative Rock, Post-Punk Revival, Jazz-Fusion
Location-Yorkshire, U.K
Influences-The Beatles, Early Chicago, Public Image Ltd., Blondie, Gang of Four, Elvis Costello, The Strokes
Sound-A energetic post-punk revival sound, with noisy, feedback laden solos, and three-part harmony. Jazz compositions are mixed in as well(like Zepp did with acoustic songs) and free-jazz type instrumentals are easily inserted into rock songs. Rock songs may also have jazz-ish openings, and vice-versa. The Band also occasionally does classic sounding ballads, ala The Beatles and Rolling Stones. Members are also interested in other genres like Baroque Pop, Dream Pop, and folk music, but these are not incorporated into The Band's sound as of yet. They also admire ambitious contemporary bands like Radiohead and Arcade Fire, and hope to be respected as they are in the future. Lyrically, The Band primarily focuses on political songs, with some ironic/snide relational(but not neccesarily romantic) songs mixed in.

The Band-
Kim Black(21 years old,Lead Vocals, Bass, lyrics)-Barely five feet tall, with red hair, a face full of freckles, a washboard stomach, and a throaty, Lennon-esq voice, Kim Black gets alot of attention at gigs. Despite giving off a cocky, super-energetic presense at shows, Black generally dislikes attention and will leave the media stuff to her bandmates. Black's voice is regarded by listeners as a female version of John Lennon's, and as a bass player, she is without peer. She embodies The Band's, Preppie/British street fashion style of dress, and often wears retro John Lennon style sunglasses. Black has been rumored to be a man-eater in her private life.

John York(23 years old, Lead Guitar, multi-intrumentalist,music/lyrics)-He's not the best guitarist in the world, but his abusive guitar style brings energy to any song he plays. York is tall, with uncombed hair, and wears distinctive horn-rimmed glasses. He has almost total creative control, and is The Band's real frontman, giving all the interviews and starring in the videos. He makes his music for himself and himself alone, and is seen as extremely arrogant by many. York is also interested in acting, and would like to launch a career in art house films. He treats Black as his little sister, but some have speculated that there is more to their relationship than that.

Ian Black(25 years old, Rhythm Guitar, Backing/Occasional lead vocals) He shares his younger sister Kim's red hair and freckles. When he rarely sings lead, it is often in falsetta, and he can scat on the jazz songs. Upon meeting York for the first time, he got into a fist fight(and was beaten up) by him, but the two have later devoloped a love-hate friendship.

Edmund Pitt(26 Years old, Drums, backing vocals)The oldest member and a solid drummer, Pitt is the rock of The Band, and it's leader, along with York. He is its only married member, and his wife recently gave birth to their first child.

The old description of the EP, just to get everything in the same place-

The Band's soon to be realeased debut EP has received critical acclaim, being refered to as "an auspicious beginning for a potentialy genre-defining band", and "The best debut EP in years". It will be available in both CD and Vinyl, and as a digital download. So go buy it soon!!!!

Track listing/descriptions below. All music by John York. Lyrics noted with tracks

1.Maneater-3:38(lyrics by Kim Black)
2.Paranoia About Death and Heartbreak; Featuring Observations about Privacy, Sexuality in the Human Female, and Passages from Carl Jung's Psychology of the Unconscious"-5:04(lyrics by John York)
3.Our Sex Pistols Tribute-2:04(lyrics by John York)
4.Powerful Sounds-3:08(lyrics by John York)
5.The Wrestler-8:38(lyrics by John York and Kim Black)

1.Maneater-The tongue-in-cheek lyrics bowl down to Black telling various heartbroken men to get over her transgressions. The song is the most straight forward on the EP, after a minute long opening, A verse is repeated three times(with different lyrics) with slight musical changes each time. This is followed by a noisy York guitar solo, and the first verse being repeated again. The song's arrangement is a danceable Post-Punk type, and York's trumpet playing is overdubbed in the opening, giving the beginning a jazz vibe.

2.Paranoia About Death and Heartbreak; Featuring Observations about Privacy, Sexuality in the Female, and Passages from Carl Jung's Psychology of the Unconscious-The song opens to two minutes of York ad-libbing a guitar solo. Than, a verse beginns with Black singing about her fear of being poisoned in a restaurant. York, barely audible under the mix, can be heard speaking in a monotone voice, giving an extremely profane rebuttle to everything Black says, as well as reading from "Psychology of the Unconscious" at various points, and saying that women deserve to have private sexual lives. This is followed by an instrumental with an entirely different riff, and than another verse about Black fearing heartbreak. The song is minimal, with only Black's vocals and bass, and York's speaking and guiar. It is again in a Post-Punk style, with Black playing a retro bass line, throughout.

3.Our Sex Pistols Tribute-A SP sounding Punk rock song. In typical Punk tradition it is short, and has a simple song structure. The lyrics are basically about how great Jonny Rotten is, and how the Pistols old manager should be killed. Ian Black and Pitt provide backing vocals at the end of the song

4.Powerful Sounds-Being an Avant-guard track, this is the least mainstream song on the album. It's primary beat comes from feedback from various electronic appliances. Percussion comes from sampled sounds of various types of crashes. Black sings lead vocals, only describing what is happening in the sounds, while Ian/Pitt sing harmony. York plays the trumpet throughout the song as well.

5.The Wrestler-The EP's epic, this song's lyrics deal with more mature themes; it tells the story of a wrestler, and in the process critiques both old and new ideas about masculinity. It opens with a brief bass solo from Black, before drums, and sonic noise/low tuning sounds enter. The song goes through two verse/chorus cycles, in a traditional Post-Punk style once again, with the song building as it goes. There is then a long instrumental, featuring extensive soloing by both York and Black, as well as a drum solo by Pitt. Afterward, another verse is sung, but this time by Ian, as the Wrestler, followed by a final chorus. Black/Pitt provide backing vocals on the chorus's

Details for "The Question We All Want Answered"

The single features the title song, plus a B-side, and a rock version of TQWAWA.

The single is yet another commercial failure.

Song details-

The Question We All Want Answered-5:08-Written by John York-The songs lyrics are very abstract, it amounts to Black wondering where her relationship with another person is headed. The song is very Jazz Fusion oriented. It has about a minute opening, with drums, York on the trumpet, and some agressive guitar coming in and out. It then settles into it's main verse/chorus with trumpet, bass, drums, piano. Ian provides backing vocals on the chorus. There is then a long trumpet solo by York, with a bit of guitar from him at the end, followed by the chorus one final time.

Every Road Leads to Your Door-5:41:Music by York, lyrics by Kim Black-The songs lyrics are reminiscent of melo-dramatic classic rock balladry. The song opens with York on piano, with a few guitar blasts coming in. The first verse is just York on piano, before the chrous arrives, and the drums and bass enter. This continues in the second verse, with a few strings added in. In the second chorus, blaring British horns and a bit of guiar are added. There is then another horn solo by York, and a noise rock bridge, before the chorus is repeated twice as the song fades out.

Album Details-

Critical Response-The response is mixed. Some critics have been shocked that a new band could release a double Lp full of solid material for their debut and have praised The Band for it's ambition, calling them "utterly interesting". Others said that the album is overlong and pretentious, as well as "directionless". A music video has been realeased for "The Question We All Want Answered" it is simple, featuring them playing in a dark club, with the cameras focusing on Kim Black and John York.

Track Listing-
All Music by John York, except where noted. Lyrics in descriptions
Disc 1
1.Introduction- 0:38
2.Does Anybody Really Care?- 5:38
3.Only the Beginning- 7:56
4.My Washboard*- 4:04
5.Fascist Pigs- 3:41
6.Suite No. 1- 16:04
Disc 2
1.The Wrestler-8:38
2.An Interlude-6:44
3.The Question We All Want Answered-4:58
4.Collage-14:42
5.Suite No. 2-14:06

*written by the producer, George Greenwood

Descriptions-
Disc 1
1.Introuduction-lyrics by John York-The Band introducing itself. After a brief spoken intro by York, each of the other members sings briefly, with jangly guitars and a bass line in the background

2.Does Anybody Really Care-lyrics by John York-After a 3 minute, free-form piano opening played by York, the song goes into a Post-punk jazz Fusion arrangement. It cycles through a verse and chorus twice, and the final chorus is repeated with backing vocals by Pitt and Ian Black. The lyrics are York expressing his layed back view of life.

3.Only the Beginning-lyrics by John York-After an intro with York by himself on acoustic guitar, Ian comes in on Rythm guitar, Black on the bass, and Pitt on drums with York's trumpet overdubbed. 3 part harmonies on the chorus. The song goes through the verse-chorus three times before leaving it's medium tempo for a fast paced coda, which is abrubtly interupted for a Celtic-punk segement that lasts about a minute. The coda then continues, untill everything except the drums fades out. The song concludes with a drum solo. The lyrics are basic "wait and see what we'll do next" type stuff.

4.My Washboard-lyrics by Kim Black-The lyrics are Black bragging about how ripped and toned her stomach is. After a brief intro it goes through a verse and chorus three times, with an agressive York solo before the final chorus. This is a Post-punk song, with just the bass, guitars and drums

5.Fascist Pigs-lyrics by John York-The lyrics are an angry attempt to expose authoritarian practices in areas of government where one might not expect it to exist. The song is a Post-Punk arrangement like track four, and features bizzarre tunings and another agressive solo by York, as well as a Black bass solo backed up by sonic noise.

6.Suite No. 1-lyrics by John York-This is a suit, meaning a buch of short songs in a similiar style molded together. This is almost entirely acapella, except for piano and somber horn playing by York on one song. The lyrics tell a loose story about a man searching for a friend with whom he is disconnected. Sound affects that match the lyrics were created by feedback, and strangely tuned instruments.

Disc 2-
1.The Wrestler-see above

2.An Interlude-no lyrics-An ad-libbed guitar solo in the studio by York. It was not planned as being apart of the album, but it was so good that it was included.

3.The Question We All Want Answered-see above

4.Collage-no lyrics-A collage of sonic noise/feedback, with some electronic beats beneath the mix. Some avant-guard jazz is featured later in the song

5.Suite No. 2-Lyrics by John York and Kim Black-Another suite. It begins with a fade in of more sonic noise. It then segways into a fast-paced, harmony heavy, acoustic sequence, with an occasional blast of electric guitar. Following a melodic York solo, there is a long, somber jazz segment, before the conclusion where horns blast chaotically in a free-jazz style. The lyrics mostly focus on being unlikeable, and not having any friends, with a interlude during the acoustic segment for Kim to brag about how positively
smoldering she is, and the somber segment has political undertones.

OOC-Anyone want to review it?

Here's the Independent Press's interview w/ The Band's guitarist/frontman John York-

IP-Hello, John, how are you today?

JY-My matress was too firm

IP-Okay then, so, what's your band been up too.

JY-As I'd imagine you know, we just relaeased our first album and single. I guess it qualifies as a flop, but it's doing better than I expected. We've got the second single from it coming out, "Only the Beginning", we're excited about that because it is going to be realeased in the US as a promo single, marking our first real exposure there. We've been doing tons of touring, all the British schools, and a bunch of big punk clubs, and some smaller intimate stuff in indie bars.

IP-You've been downright hostile towards the mainstream music establishment, is there any major reason for that.

JY-Hostile Ohhhh, my. Look, I can't be bloody hostile to something I don't understand. Pop doesn't interest me anymore, there's nothing to grab me or capture my imagination. Nothing I hear anyway.

IP-So what DOES grab you and capture your imagination? Got a top album's list you can list off the top of your head?

JY-Let's see, No. 1's gotta be "Entertainment" by Gang of Four, if you want to understand everything I'm about, listen to that album. Two and three, would be The Bends and Ok Computer from Radiohead. Hmmm, I guess I'll round it out with Chicago's Prog,/Jazz Fusion debut, The Chicago Transit Authority, and you've gotta have a Beatles album, so Revolver.

IP-So, you've been linked romantically to everyone from a Russian tennis player, to your lead singer, to a Victoria's Secret model. Any of them true?

JY-They're all true. I'm a slut

IP-Seriously?

JY-maybe.

IP-Do you want to talk about it?

JY-No.

IP-Want to talk politics?

JY-Look, England always has, and probably always will have the same problems. New Labour was a joke, and when one party's in charge as long as the Tories were, they're not going to be responsible at all. Cameron's doing good work, but yes, everyone is still doomed. So I can still write depressing songs about that.

IP-To wrap up, in America there was a celebrity all star basketball game, and apparently Justin Beiber played fairly well in it. So could you beat Bieber at basketball?

JY-I couldn't beat anyone at basketball. I played rugby as a kid, and dabble in golf, but I've never held a basketball in my life. I'm not 100% sure who this kid is, but someone told me he was basically Damon Albarn with a bad haircut, so I could just beat the pussy up and that would be the end of it.

IP-Thank you for your time

JY-Whatever.

My Washboard will be realeased as the third single from England's Latest Attraction. A live version of the song will be included, plus another B-side-

Not What I Want-Music by John York, lyrics by Kim Black- 5:54-In another ballad, Black sensuously sings about her wanting to be her friend's lover. The emphasis is on the physical, Black's yearning appears to come from repressed lust. The song opens with a verse-chrous-verse-chorus structure. The verses have piano, plus drums/bass, York comes in on a rhythm guitar part on the chorus with harmony vocals, and is joined by horns on the second chorus. This is followed by a formal piano bit by York, followed by a final chrous. The song ends with an extended jazz segment, that includes York playing many brass parts, edited together to give the illusion of a wild jam session, possibly a subtle hint at the success of Black's quest.

"My Washboard" marks The Band's first success in the United States, as the song has reached no. 12 on the Modern Rock charts. It still hasn't made much of a splash in the UK, where album sales are highest.
