OOC:Before I begin the RP I'd like to thank PANIC! and C4AJoh who I took influence from in your RP's.I actually went through almost 100 pages starting from 224 looking for PANIC's Live in London RP. Seeing as the Birdies are gonna be the last ones I figured I should try to rake in as many as possible like Best Live Act and Best Album which I've yet to win. Anyway, enjoy the read, this one's gonna be a bit longer and as always please comment if you read, a simple OOC comment would be great.

Pre-Show:
Backstage The Nimrods were all doing various activities.Kit was stretching, Davey was running through scales, Jimmy was drinking a beer, and Jaska and Jack were sharing a joint with some lucky fans. While to most this seems rather nonchalant, The Nimrods consider it almost ritualistic. After completing their various agendas, they had a talk with their tour manager. "OK guys,it's your first show in a VERY long time. We've been practicing for a month. Kit, you've been the highlight of this recent album, pulverize the audience with your drumming! Jimmy! I want every single word you say to have such conviction that the audience think s you're talking to them.Davey, you're the greatest bassist alive whether you like to admit it or not, no one can touch you, tonight you remember that and show them why you're the best! Jaska, Jack, you're pretty much just live musicians but that does NOT mean you're not a part of this band. You play tight, and you play hard! Now gentlemen, your band name is The Nimrods but that does NOT mean that you act like that on stage. You have fun but if you don't o a good first show then God dammit I'll personally fuck you up! Now get out there and show them why you're the biggest metal band on Earth!" After the pep-talk from their manager, the band appeared on the big screen in the arena.Kit grabbed his sticks while the rest of the band members got their instruments. You see them open the door to the stage and then the arena lights all go out. It's show time.

Performance:
There's a purple spotlight on Kit's drum kit while he begins to play. Very flashy stuff really, just to get the audience pumped. After a quick metal drum fill all the lights turn on and the band goes straight into the first song "Dichotomy of Man". Seeing as the song starts out on a very heavy fast note, the audience goes wild as Kit's technical drumming pummels them. While Kit is on the screen for his drumming, Jimmy and Davey are both going wild headbanging and playing their complex licks. As soon as Jimmy goes to the mic everything changes.

Jimmy's roar is so powerful that everyone in the arena is in shock. Once the verse occurs everyone begins to headbang in what appears to be in slow motion. Seeing as Davey doesn't have to do much at this point he simply shows off jumping around and hitting Kit's cymbals with his sticks. When the verse ends everyone stop playing and allowing Jack to hold one note on his keyboard. The crowd hears Jimmy say "Wait for it....." before finally letting out a terrifying scream while the music returns for the chorus. Jimmy's philosophical lyrics are actually understandable as he spouts them angrily.

"The poor are left below
The rich just watch them die
They're forced to live in agony
Which isn't justified."

After a sustained chord the song turns acoustic. During this part Kit's drumming is a true highlight as he showcases his jazz skills, throwing in several fills and double bass triplets. When the song turns almost middle eastern, Kit and Davey both go wild with Davey standing on his riser and then dropping to his knees like an 80's guitar hero. Finally when Jimmy's solo comes in he plays through it skillfully moving around as he plays and leaning over the audience on very difficult parts. As the song ends with it's brutal riffing the entire band headbangs in unison, finally it finishes on an abrupt note. This gives Jimmy the chance to speak to the audience once again.

"HELLO LOS FUCKING ANGELES!" He shouts. The crowd responds with cheers, finally their somewhat hometown heroes have returned. "It's good to be back, we'd like to thank all 20,000 of you for showing up here tonight!" the crowd cheers again. "We've got a great show for you guys, a good 2 hours or so of SONIC BRUTALITY!" the crowd screams cheering various names of the band. "This one is also off the new album, it's called ROTTING IN THE CRYPT!" Jimmy growls the title.

When the song begins the band begins to head bang together again with Jimmy and Jaska playing face to face as if almost dueling to see who can play the riff tighter. After about a minute and a half the band stops playing and Kit plays his iconic fill. After the fill Jimmy nearly vomits into the mic and his extremely guttural voice is barely understood. With Kit's blasting the song is extremely intense with members of the audience making a giant mosh pit and people in the front headbanging like crazy. On the breakdown everyone including the band starts headbanging slowly while Jimmy roars again with such intensity it's surprising he can speak. Jaska then plays an improvised and very technical solo over the last rhythm. Afterwords the band plays one simultaneous chord and then Jimmy lets out a scream lasting 30 seconds so piercing that the audience can only stare in awe.

The band instantly goes into the next song which is a cover of the song "Akeldama" by The Faceless. Jack speaks the electronic intro through a talk box with his keyboard. The rest of the song is an instrumental that allows the band to show off their skills, especially Kit who goes wild with the offbeat drumming and jazz fills. The atmospheric arpeggios sound so emotional the way that they're played by the band who all are in deep concentration. The solos are shared by Jimmy and Jaska who are praised by the audience for their skills. For the more chugging riffs the band members head bang rapidly as well as the audience. Davey's bass solo is different from that of the song and is longer but is equally amazing, after he plays it Jimmy shakes his hand and gives him a hug before they resume the rest of the song. Once it ends the crowd goes wild seeing as several Faceless fans love The Nimrods. Jimmy goes back to the mic to announce the next song and already looks tired.

"That ones a tough one! For those that don't know that one was by a band called The Faceless who are an amazing band also from Cali, check them out. Also cheers to my best mate Mr.Davey Matlock!" the crowd cheers for Davey who obviously looks happy."This next one is a bit more calm but you'll love it anyway. This one's called 'Hidden in the Mist'!"

During the epic beginning Kit's feet go wild, going very fast but remaining on time and on tempo. Jimmy stands on a riser to play the intro with Davey as it is slow and harmonized with the occasional keyboard note thrown in. Davey's sad lines greatly complement the guitars showing that he's got true skills even when playing something that isn't difficult. When Jimmy begins to sing the women in the crowd go wild, throwing bras on stage and screaming.
Several bras actually hitting the bad members, Davey being the band slut attempts to catch a few in his mouth. Jimmy's lyrics however are dark and sad.

"All has gone away, hidden in the mist
Scars that never fade, disappear in here
Go under the depths, don't apologize
Remorse is always there, feel it as you cry."

The gothic inspired lyrics strike sadness in the hearts of many.Jimmy's clean voice is very emotional and sad, sounding almost like he's crying. The audience then realize the song is about his dead wife and then realize that he is indeed weeping. While Davey plays his bass solo Jimmy and Jaska go backstage to get 7 strings and then return to play the clean parts. During Davey's bass solo he actually walked into the crowd and is standing on them as he plays. Once the clean is over Jimmy screams as hard as possible conveying his sadness as aggressively as possible.During his solo, Jimmy meets Davey on top of the audience as they play their trade-off solo trying to looks like total showoffs like back in their younger days.During the final groove Jimmy jumps on his back to play the chugging riffs while being crowd surfed back to the stage.

All of the band members except Kit go offstage at this point. A spotlight is put on Kit and cameras show him drumming from behind and his feet. His solo is very technical, using various beats that are syncopated an slow and heavy grooves. He then adds a little wank to it by playing various fills rapidly and then playing extremely fast blast beats. At one point Kit throws his sticks into the crowd and simply plays fast double bass while drinking and eating a sandwich. After playing parts of some popular Nimrods tunes Kit begins playing a very slow beat and the band members return with acoustics and stools to sit on.

The band begins to play "Winter's Lament" which is very sad and the audience just stares. Jimmy croons into the mic with his sad lyrics nearly making the audience cry.

"As the last leaves fall away
I wish for yesterday
When the autumn leaves would sway
I prepare for winter's day

Spring come take the cold
I no longer can bear the ice
The fury and all the could
Causes me to become a recluse"

Jimmy's lyrics of isolation and loneliness obviously stick out to the more misfit fans with their teenage angst. Jimmy's Spanish guitar solo is skillful and beautiful and he plays it standing up. While Davey plays his solo, Jimmy goes to get a beautiful black Fender Stratocaster and begins his "Comfortably Numb" inspired solo. He plays to the audience making odd guitar faces and the crowd begins to clap. He shows that though not always expressed, Jimmy is definitely an amazing guitarist. Once the song is over Jimmy takes the opportunity to go to the mic again.

"This next song will be a cover of the song 'God Called in Sick today" by AFI. We're playing it for those who died because of the DBM massacre. I won't say who caused this but they're also dead and to be completely honest, I don't believe in hell but if it's real I really hope that's where they are. Many innocent people died because of such a tragic event including my wife, I give condolences to the families of the people who pass and for the fans of these musicians.Rest in peace all of you, this one's for DBM."

Jimmy puts down his guitar for this song and sings sadly.Grabbing the microphone and walking toward the crowd Jimmy is seen obviously tearing up once again. As he approaches a small riser in front of the crowd he screams the chorus as loud as he can along with the crowd.

"I can't help my laughter as they cries
My soul brings tears to angelic eyes"

Jimmy sings loudly and strongly with the audience for the next verse and when the chorus resumes he thrashes around the stage jumping and headbanging, giving emotion to every word that he shouts. At the end of the song he dives into the crowd, finally leaving after a brief moment with the fans. He says "RIP DBM" before leaving the stage to get another guitar.

While Jimmy is gone, the remaining band members decide to jam together. Jaska shows his skillful mastery of the guitar, equal to Jimmy while Davey and Kit showcase their abilities as the most dominating rhythm section in music today. As Jimmy returns he also plays with them and solos with Jack who is quite an amazing keyboardist even though he's not very high in the spotlight. After the jam the band goes right into the next song "Arise and Live"

Jimmy wrote this song as a way to cope with deaths. He believed he needed to "Arise and Live" so that he could move on. It was also a reason for him to quit drugs as he wanted to rise above them. Davey's lurching bass work under the acoustics is quite amazing with his fretless slides dominating, showing his versatility and skill. Jimmy's lyrics are once again sad though uplifting.

"Live through this
It's always there
Move on anyway
No need to stare
Don't stay in the past
Or you'll be corrupted
Stay in clear sight
Keep vision unobstructed."

When the distorted parts come in the band members all stand on their risers, showing how they tower above their normal levels, rising to the challenge or what have you. When Jimmy screams his screams become even more emotional showing his true care for his well being as much as he seems like he doesn't.The ending harmonies are amazing, showing the band's amazing skills as songwriters. As the last notes fade, the audience erupts in screams and cheers. Only a few acts could bring the audience to such an ovation, The Nimrods truly feeling thankful for such fans.

The band members leave except for Jimmy who does a quick solo, showing his talents which he usually doesn't do. He plays various genres, compiling them into a cohesive solo using jazz, metal, and classical music. He walks into the crowd and continues his solo, being stared at like some sort of rock God. At the end he walks back to the stage to announce the penultimate piece.

"This one is the title track of the album, and a piece we consider perfect. This one is our Redemption. we hoped it would bring us back to you the fans and seeing this turnout it truly has. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for being so supportive and staying true to us. Even here I can see some people who were with us when we were just a punk band which truly touches me.Thank you all. This one's called "Redemption".

The band returns to the stage, playing the well know harmonized riffs. The audience can see the faces of the band members showing true passion and appreciation. Kit's speed is unmatched, playing fast and skillfully and throwing in over the top jazz fills reminiscent of those on Atheist's Elements album.Davey's lurching bass is quite the spectacle as the audience watches his hand slide up and down the fretboard like some odd man wanking off. When the heavier riffs come in with Kit blasting and Davey's fingers dancing around, Jimmy's powerful growls penetrate throughout the arena. The clean part is so melancholy yet beautiful, Jimmy's fingers making odd shapes for the chords.Kit's polyrhythms and jazz drumming amaze the audience with plenty of skills and subtle fills.Jimmy's acoustics pick up in speed while Davey's bass lines remain slow which adds diversity.Jimmy's solo amazes the entire arena and even band members, showing emotion, skill, and all out soul.At the end of the solo clapping begins and the verse resumes. Jimmy's gothic wail is rather spectacular as well under the dissonant chord which punish the audience.Technical riffs soon appear, fingers flying around and Kit's hands nearly a blur showing unbreakable technique. Once the final verse comes in, Jimmy's low growls are terrifying spouting evil lyrics such as

"Blasphemy is necessary for fun to begin
To revel in the glory of an evil redemption"

The final acoustic part is beautiful and gradually slows down. Emulating the fade out effect on the album. The last few notes are played slowly and dramatically as the masterpiece ends. The fans have been clapping the entire time and the band members all bow. After this, Jimmy takes the mic one final time after putting away his guitar.

"This one is a song that I think truly represents me. It's a cover of the man that made me want to get into the music business. This one is by the one and only, Mr.Iggy Pop! It's called 'The Passenger'".

The crowd cheers as Jaska plays the opening riffs and Jimmy strips down completely naked and begins to sing.He sings the song full of emotion meaning every lyric describing isolation and simply driving around. At the chorus Jimmy holds the mic to the audience to sing the "La la's". At the bridge of the song Jimmy is nearly screaming the words and stomping his small feet. Once the last verse is sang the band members play a final chord and Jimmy screams holding the mic above him.Jimmy then throws his clothes into the audience along with the rest of the band and says a polite "Thank you" before leaving along with the rest of the band.

Post Show:
The band members all lounge around naked talking to various media folks.
Jimmy:I think it was a great show guys, great job really.
Davey lights a cigarette and they all pass around Jack Daniels and Absolut Vodka, their favorite drinks. The camera man from some station tries to ask about the show but the band is so psyched from the show that they don't answer and are all giggly. They then push the camera man out of the dressing room (or undressing room) and all have a toast to a great show. Hence one of the most tremendous comeback shows and the best gig The Nimrods have ever done.

OOC: This was a really great roleplay, you can tell you put a hell of a lot of effort into this roleplay. I'm suprised you were influenced by one of my roleplays but yours is without doubt a better roleplay. Like I say it was pretty amazing, well done and I'd be pretty suprised if not many people comment on it.

OOC: Yeah, you did an awesome job. As C4AJoh said, I can tell you put a hell of a lot of work into it. It's honestly one of the best live roleplays I've ever seen.

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

(OOC: Really the Live in London RP? That was probably the first live roleplay I made and I hated it, but glad it at least inspired someone. This was a really great live RP, one of the best I've seen since the whole Battle of the Bands thing, earlier this year. I probably won't get a chance to make a Live RP before the next Birdies because I got too much shit going on as it is, but I'll most likely try and go after the Best Album. :p)

(OOC: Lol. Thanks, I never really even though people remembered my live RP's with PANIC! since, one I haven't roleplayed them in such a longtime and two my live RP's in general are very seldom in-between one another. I just write one up when there is an event I have to make one for or just when an idea for a good one pops up in my head, I don't force them out because if I did they would be abysmal.)

OOC:Then I'll just have to take you out lol. Thank you very much by the way, honestly from you is where I really wanted to hear it.

OOC:Oh I see, I do them to improve myself. I'm really working myself for my comeback. I've got 2 track by tracks left and an interview.

OOC: Really nice RP as everyone said. It's been a long time since I seen a lot of people in the forum complementing each other this way and I think almost everyone does great job when it comes to Live RP's. Sometimes the best RP's never get any comments because either they are too long and detailed or people are double standard. But yeah. Nice RP!

OOC:Thanks! I' glad RP is being used more, maybe it's another Golden Age like during the end of the old game before the server crash.

OOC: Really well written, one of the best that I've read in a while! I agree with what Steph said, it's nice to see that people are paying attention to really good RPs lately. I remember when the roleplay section was a bit of a ghost town for a bit but it seems to be picking up a bit now which is good! :)

OOC:Yup! Makes me nostalgic, RPs are getting better and better as well, from everyone.

OOC: Dammit, this is putting all sorts of holes in my plans for Junkhead's debut album. Anyways, fan-fucking-tastic job Ryland, that's quite an insane rp you got there. I love you whole realistic flow about it, you managed to get enough detail in that it seems real, but you didn't overload it. Cheers!

Ooc: just seeing this for the first time, nice work man! Reminds me of the sorts of RPs I used to like to do for Blood Of Wecz, really long and really detailed. Well played.
