Mars Volta sounds nothing like Metallica does it?

Creed sounds nothing like Ac/Dc does it?

This is what I mean, the music is not the same. It cant be described on paper or website it is only noticeable in the sound. Like Rock and Pop are different so are 80s Rock and 00s Rock. Thats not a bad thing entirely, but I was looking for some 00s bands who don't sound like 00s rock. I didn't mean for it to become a conversation on music theory.

So you're look for musical retreads... Well, Wolfmother, Airbourne, The Darkness (though they thankfully are no more), and I assume a bunch more but I don't pay any attention to these kinds of bands because I didn't like the originals and I sure as hell don't like their tributes.

I like Wolfmother and Airbourne (dont kill me) and I have never heard of the Darkness, so thanks for mentioning them. But yes, that is the basic idea.

How much will he regret that? I like them, but being fair. They have the fanbase of James Blunt and Deep Blue Something (in other words, they used to be seriously famous, and I'm amongst very few who didn't give up when fame did).

I don't think that kind of music is likely to be as big as it used to be but in terms of epic albums there's been loads of epic albums just not the same kind of music for example American Idiot.

Theyre a Spanish band, odds are you wont know them and maybe you'll like them, they went on guitar hero or something but they're overlooked by the kids playing it. Not quite a classic rock band, they're not groundbreaking either, yet they were extremely cool when I was more in that genre, they're still fun to listen, and I'll never forgive myself for missing their reunion concert.

Perhaps mid-era FATES WARNING would be to your liking? There they moved away from the more progressive US heavy metal they made in their ealier years, and made some stuff that's very different, but still extremely good. It's a tad more commercial than the earlier stuff, but I like it.


And for the record, I think most "retro" bands are horrendous. AIRBOURNE are okay (sorry Captain), but bands like WOLFMOTHER and THE SWORD plain out suck. Hipster crap.
